On the lakefront pedestrian street.
An adult and a child, each holding an ice cream.
Ji Yun's gaze followed the bustling crowd, occasionally scanning the surroundings.
This was the familiar Lan City, yet there seemed to be many changes.
Ji Yun couldn't quite put his finger on it, but everything felt renewed and more cultured. Small statues, scenic platforms, and pavilions that one would only expect to find in the history books of Lan City were now interspersed within the busy downtown, standing alongside the cross-era skyscrapers without any sense of incongruity.
"What do you think? Isn't it beautiful?" Xiao Qiu Mu, eating her vanilla-flavored ice cream, said with some pride, "This is my dad's doing. Without him, the city would've been washed away by the great flood!"
Ji Yun also took a bite of his blueberry-flavored ice cream, although he didn't know why he had chosen that flavor.
"Is there anything else I should be aware of?" Ji Yun asked earnestly.
