5 4 months later

during these next two months Rex spent with Professor oak, he learned a lot about the habits, natures of pokemon and their differing personalities not influenced by their species. This was all very helpful for the team that Rex had in mind for the Indigo League. He chose specific pokemon for their typing and to be more diverse and increase coverage. they are relatively easy to find in the wild but are very strong when they evolve which was necessary in order to swiftly win the title.

Rex had been training his Machop in hand to hand combat as well as physical training to increase all his stats. he also started to teach him several moves.

as the days went by he grew stronger.

Rex 'seems training is going well he's stats are rising higher thanks to the diet and training I implemented specifically to him.'

Rex ' it's also good that ice punch, thunder punch and fire punch are finally registered, me and Machop have been working on them for the last week and it finally paid off with his level up. i priorities those moves since his ability iron fist increases the power of punching moves by 20%'

Rex 'as for light screen I taught it to him about 2 weeks ago roughly since his special attack is really low getting close would be detrimental against a special attacker. at least this way he'll take 50% less damage and reach the opponent.'

Rex looked up and headed inside where he saw Gary and Professor oak chatting.

Gary turned to see who it was and immediately recognised Rex.

Gary had met Rex 2 months ago and ever since he saw how strong Machop was when he battled the occasional wild pokemon near the lab he started to see Rex as a sort of Idol, the golden standard.

Gary would also be followed by a certain black-haired youth with a red hat and blue jeans when he came to visit Rex. That's right, it is the notorious Ash Ketchum the bringer of bad luck. Rex would stay way when he could in case Ash's bad luck rubbed off on him. Ash had such bad luck during the anime it's a wonder he didn't die in a ditch somewhere along the way.

most of the time though, Rex was busy taking care of the pokemon sent to professor oak by trainers. the good thing was that the grounds had been terraformed to suit the pokemon of all types, from rock to sand, grasslands to lakes, it had it all. this kept him busy most of the time which depending on how you see it can be a good thing since it kept him away from Ash.

before long another 2 months went by and it was finally the day that Rex finishes his crash course especially made for him at the request of professor oak to the school. on this day Rex could be seen training with Machop throwing one punch after another, leg kicks after leg kick in an impressive sequence without stopping. at this point, hours had gone by and they were soon reaching their limits, Rex fell first before Machop followed shortly after.

he had learned a few things from trainer school although to his surprise most of it was very basic. the only thing that was useful to him was some inspiration for new ways to use moves and videos on the elite 4 which broadened his horizons. he now knew that he would not be able to beat them if he did not gain more experience. and the best way to do that was through gyms, making him all the more excited to challenge them.

wiping the sweat off his forehead Rex looked at Machop with a smile.

Rex "that's it for today Machop you have done really good you finally have a good grasp on the hand to hand combat technique I taught you. Tomorrow we will finally be leaving for our journey. my trainer's licence should be arriving soon and I'll wait until tomorrow morning to grab it before we set off." he said

Machop "MACHOPPPP" he shouted jumping up and down happily after hearing Rex, He had wanted to travel the world and fight new and strong pokemon and grow even stronger just like his master promised. and the day has arrived, he couldn't wait. he would pay attention when Rex was in trainer school and saw the elite 4 and their pokemon which shocked Machop a lot.

The most shocking thing was Bruno and His machamp which blew him away. he wanted to surpass that machamp. he wanted to become the strongest machamp there was, and after 4 months of training, Machop started to believe that his master may just be able to give him that. after all, he was already way bigger than other Machops which goes to show how strong he has gotten.

thinking thus far Machop made his way over to Rex.

Rex "Machop return!" he said pulling out a Pokeball and pointing it at Machop before finally heading back into the lab.

inside he could see professor oak tinkering with a Pokedex before noticing Rex.

Oak "ah! I see you're done with your training, I expect the ID to arrive soon do you want it today or wait until tomorrow?" he asked

Rex "tomorrow, I'm not planning to go anywhere just yet, ill wait until after tomorrow mornings training to pick it up before leaving." he said waving before heading to bed.
