Creating the Plot Part 1

When creating the plot, many factors have to be taken into consideration.

When you start creating the plot, you have to already have the endgame in mind. How will this novel end? And I'm not just saying will this novel be a happy ending. I'm saying what is the final and greatest conflict the main character has faced since the very beginning of the novel.

What is the main character's goal? Do they want to build an empire of peace or become the strongest person in the world? This goal should remain present until the very end of the novel. Small goals can be made anytime within the novel like trying to become stronger than someone else. for example, Aang from Avatar wanted to learn all four bending arts and bring world peace!

What is the main characters biggest obstacle to achieving this goal? Is it their lack of knowledge? If so then how can he obtain said knowledge? (Through hard work, don't suddenly give him an infinite amount of knowledge... That will just defeat the purpose of having an obstacle thus making the novel boring). Take Saitama from One Punch Man for example. He wanted to become a hero so he trained and trained. Now he did but what was his biggest obstacle? He's too strong! No one can match up to him, his life has become boring and the author made his boring life funny to his readers. Even the all-powerful Saitama had a downfall!

What is going to be in the arcs? Now, you don't have to claw away at the main characters obstacle like a dog tearing at your door. You can slowly nitpick it by trying to create minor goals for the main character. For example, if the main character wants to become the strongest person in the world, then make a tournament arc where he can improve his strength! Or if the protagonist wants to build the biggest company in the world, then work on how they will get their first product out and into the market!

Jot these ideas down! Don't create them in paragraphs! It's easier to read and even easier to understand.

See you in the next part :)
