IS THIS A RIP OFF?!

I glanced at the screen, bleary-eyed. I was exhausted, but finally, all of my hard work had paid off! Rubbing my hands together and cackling, I glanced around my dark apartment. "Finally! I got the limited edition of Cultivate New World Online!!!" I hugged the box to herself, "this is awesome. I can't wait to get in here and cultivate to the top of the food chain!" I imagined myself standing at an enormous mountain peak with the world at my feed. "I SHALL BE INVINCIBLE, YAY!"

I calmed myself with a cough and clearing my throat. "But first, let's get this installed. I can't believe I was able to get the last version off that guy."

A flashback showed a shady character in a trench coat that screamed 'I snatch people off the streets for a living'. "Hey you, you looking for that game? I don't have the hardware for this; how about I just give it to you?"

It had been a dream! Thanks to my part-time job, I had missed the deadline. I glanced down at my wheelchair and sighed into my arms as the computer loaded. "I wish I could cultivate and heal myself." I clicked on the program and watched the bootup screen. "I wish…I wish I could become as powerful as the an Immortal of the Heavenly Realm. Then…then I'll never have to feel pain again."

A blink and a noise that sounded like a gong rang out in the room. "Whoa! Haha, I have the volume up too loud apparently!" Rubbing the back of my neck, I reached for the mouse and realized a sizeable ornate photo with two questions on the screen.

But…I couldn't exit the screen. "Ugh, did I get ripped off!?" I cried, smacking the computer; in doing so— I clicked the YES. A large swatch of light exploded from the floor beneath me, and before I could react, I was dragged into darkness.

A voice reached out to me as I fell, "you shall struggle more than most— as your body is not suitable for our world..but with dedication, you too can become a heavenly being!"
