Shadow seemed to understand the mix of emotions that flooded my brain when I heard that scream. He picked up the pace and led us deeper into the woods. I could feel my heart beating faster, could feel the muscles in my legs tightening.

Setting my mouth in a grim line I mentally prepared myself for the worst. But what I saw was beyond any mental image I could prepare myself for.

He was being pulled apart by all limbs like one of those medival torture devices on steroids. There were five of them all at his head, arms, and legs respectively. Their jaws tugging as if he was the world's biggest chew toy. His arms and legs were hanging on by just several muscle tissue. Blood was pulling underneath him as well as splattered across several trees. The Fox Deer at his head was taking his time holding him as he was screaming with bloody tears falling down his cheeks.

I could barely hold in the bile that was rising in my throat, it was covering up the scream that was bubbling up in my chest. I was frozen in fear.

Altia came up beside us and nuzzled me, then she grabbed the back of my nape and took me off Shadow and set me down by her feet. Shadow took off and launched himself at the Fox Deer holding the male hellcats head knocking him away. He fiercely started to rip into the dark Fox Deer with a vengeance.

The herd split up and started attacking the other four that held his arms, and legs. The dark Fox Deer were over run, they quickly succumbed and were no more.

Altia nudged me with her paw. I looked up to find the dark ones dead and the male hellcat lying in his blood. I got shakily up on my feet and stumbled over to him. I don't know if I could heal him but I'm going to try. Bending down I layed my hands upon his torn and tattered body and concentrated my mana to circulate through my body to my hands.

The greenish glow from my hands lit up the darkness in an earthereal light. The wounds started to glow and slowly knit together. It was slow too slow. Shadow leaned his head against my shoulder.

His limbs were almost attached together, his neck was back in place and his flesh tone was coming back. He looked like he was about to open his eyes at any moment. I nearly jumped in surprise when he actually did.

He looked surprised, then scared because he saw Shadow resting his head on my shoulder. Before he could freak out I put my finger to his lips to shush him.

"Your safe now, I healed you. My mate and his herd helped save you. The Fox Deer are not what you think, things are more complex than what we were led to believe. Trust me when I say that the ones here are the ones who are here to help us."

He looked around him in disbelief noting how the herd had us circled protectively. He then looked at me again before passing out saying quietly before lossing consciousness,

"Okay chiefs daughter, but please explain later."
