Chapter 22 - Training

Written By Curiostyx

~〈The Wyrm, In Larry's Hole〉~

The Wyrm's meditation was suddenly interrupted when his Minion abruptly entered the burrow...

"Huff... Huff... Click-Clack! (Finish, Master!)" The out-of-breath Minion stated as his form fell to the floor with an audible thud.

'Did Running level up?' The Master asked his Minion.

"C-Cro... (N-No...)" The Minobster simply responded.

'Then get back in the field, soldier!' The Wyrm shouted with the intensity of a Drill Instructor.

Larry made a defeated expression as he went back to the large field. With that, the Wyrm returned to his meditation.

The Wyrm finally realized the importance of training as today, he had trained himself and Larry in various wacky ways.

『The Skill ~Meditation LV 1~ has been acquired.』

'Oh, finally...' The moment that Skill got solidified in his Soul, his mental sense immediately expanded.

Since MP recovered through mental serenity, he felt that he should make use of what those self-help Gurus from his previous life had been spouting; Meditation.

It not only helped with his MP recovery rate, but it was also a way for him to wind down and fully realize his emotions in a healthy manner...

If he were to meet up with Natsume in this new life of his, he would definitely recommend it to the guy.

Oh yeah, he was also level 9 now...

The Wyrm stuffed a Belgram tentacle into his mouth as he looked to his side, there lay a dozen or so Monster corpses.

With the new Skill Points he got, he made up his mind to purchase Light Magic, which cost 500 Points, leaving him with 600 remaining.

One had to remember that the Wyrm lacked any kind of Night Vision Skill, he had been completely utilizing the Stratum's ambient light produced by its lava for sight.

But such a method wouldn't work in areas devoid of fire and magma... He suspected that the other parts of the Dungeon shouldn't be so fire-focused.

It also eased his mind. The only other Magic he had was Heretic Magic, and he had noticed that after every Heretic Spell, he would always behave rather strangely...

Perhaps those mysterious Ruler Skills weren't the only abilities that had unmentioned side effects...

The Light element was always associated with the force of good in the fantasy genre, so the Wyrm brought it to combat the mental corruption of Heretic Magic

And Light Magic's first Spell was Illuminate, just what the Wyrm was looking for!

A palm-sized sphere of bright light manifested in the Wyrm's hand as he finished creating the Spell Circuit... This ought to be useful.

Strangely enough, the ball of light wasn't just some spiritual lamp, it was an actual corporeal object!

The ball of light had a texture similar to refined marble... He could use this to bash someone's head in!

After about 20-25 minutes, the ball dissipated back to Magical Power, vanishing the Spell Circuit in the process.

However, as the Magic Power flowed in the air, the Wyrm immediately tried to take back control of the departing energy.

There was nothing in Magic Power Operation's description that stated it could only control the MP inside the body... A loophole just waiting to be exploited.

A mental strain washed over the Wyrm's consciousness as he attempted the herculean task of manipulating external Magic, burning his own internal MP reserves to assist and hasten the process.

Eventually, he conceptualized the image of a colorless sphere and attempted to manipulate the MP into that shape, and then...

Failure.

Immediately, he tried again and again, putting his new Parallel Thinking Skill to work as all of his combined concentration focused on the new task...

Failure.

'What's the problem here...' He racked all his brains for the answer.

He didn't know, but he knew attempting the same thing over and over again expecting change was the very definition of insanity, so he changed his method.

But by then, the Magic had already fully dissipated... So he made another Light Ball but stopped halfway through.

"Grr..." The Wyrm released a soft growl as his very mind was being slowly torn apart by the pressure.

The Magic flowed closer and closer until it met with his hands. With a flash of light, his hands became reinforced in pure power.

『The Skill ~Magic Power Attack LV 1~ has been acquired.』

『The Skills ~Magic Perception~ and ~Magic Power Operation~ have leveled up several times.』

『The Skill ~Concentration~ has leveled up several times. Max LV reached.』

『The Skill ~Thought Acceleration LV 1~ has been derived and acquired.』

"Gh..." He finally exhaled as the reinforcement shattered back to Magical Power.

'Damn, my MP almost ran out because of that...' Luckily, the Author gave him the corresponding Skill just in time.

Immediately, the Wyrm realized that he had muttered those words in less than a second, way faster than his average thinking speed...

He then made a complex algebra equation that Oka-sensei had taught his class just before his untimely death from that explosion.

He solved the equation in under 2 minutes...

'What a useful Skill... My Magic Casting speed will surely soar with this!!!' The Wyrm realized.

'But then I would need a larger MP pool to support the faster casting...' He muttered under his breath.

『Would you like to purchase the Skill ~Magic Mass LV 1~ for 300 Skill Points?』

'Does it increase the MP pool?' He asked the Voice.

『Considerably so.』

'Then what are you waiting for!!!' He shouted at the Goddess.

『The Skill ~Magic Mass LV 1~ has been acquired. 300 Skill Points deducted from Bank.』

Immediately, the Wyrm appraised himself to check out how much his MP had increased.

But he was then surprised by just how much it increased... 1.

'You said it was a lot!!!' The Wyrm shouted angrily at the System.

It didn't respond.

However, in the next half second, the Wyrm shoved that complaint back up his ass as he made a sensible conclusion.

'It's just level 1... I shouldn't judge it yet...' To make sure, he appraised the Skill.

Apparently, it increased his MP pool by the number of Skill levels. That meant at LV 1, he simply gained 1, while in LV 10, he would get 10...

Honestly, the Wyrm was tired of complaining, so he let the matter go this time.

"Clack-Chrip!!! (Master, Running level up!!!)." The Minobster shouted as his form fell down the burrow yet again, this time covered in crustacean sweat.

'Great, now's time to hunt your extended family! Larry, lead the way!' The Wyrm ordered with an oddly cheerful tone.

"HuUuh!?" Poor Larry didn't even have time to rest as he was dragged by the Wyrm from his own home and was forced to lead the Monster into hir brothers...

Poor, Poor Larry.

"Do you guys like the new cover?" -Remark.

After this Fic is over, I'm thinking of making a Tensura fic with the King of Thieves, Ganondorf as the Protagonist... The REAL Ganon, not some jap kid in his body or whatever.
