Snowbird

"I laugh with no humor again, I don't notice that Crynn starts to scoot farther away from the bars separating us. I don't notice the bars start to crunch into themselves like a strong, invisible force is squeezing them together jerkily. I don't notice the crackle of the speakers, alerting anyone in the hall that the guards are listening in. I don't notice the wild way my hands are moving through the air, I don't notice the hysterical pitch my voice has reached, I don't notice the crazy gleam in my eyes. I wouldn't though, I'm too caught up in my emotions." Raylee Damini is the world's first Heavie, someone who can control the stubborn force of Gravity. Though it comes with a price. The Interrogation

Crynn's friends left a while ago but my brother stuck around to go over everything with me.

"Crynn. It's late, go home! Snowbird and I will get the information about the uniforms okay? I'll see you tomorrow, make sure you plan with your friends outside too, okay? We can't look suspicious."

Crynn nods his head and gives me a hug before walking out. I float my cell door over to the opening in the wall and manipulate it back to its original condition. I do my business and get ready for a cold night of sleeping on cement.

The next morning they ship me down to Snowbird's cell again, just as I predicted.

"Snowbird!" I whisper as soon as the guards are gone, "Are there any cameras or bugs in here?" She shakes her head with a scowl,

"I don't think so, I get dressed here! They don't want to watch other peoples-" She swallows hard, "deaths. So whatever you need to say, say it."

"So my brother and his friends agreed to bring you along as well, just don't touch them, they're kind of freaked out about your powers."

"You told them about my powers?!"

"Well, I didn't want them to think they could hold your hand!" Snowbird grabs her white hair and tugs while groaning,

"Is there anything else you wanted to say?"

"When a guard comes in here, we need to get information out of him or her. After that do you think you could…?" I drag my thumb across my neck silently. Snowbird bites her lip and nods.

"Okay," She whispers.

Snowbird and I are drawing when the door alarm goes off, signaling for Snowbird to put herself in the cage. She looks at me for reassurance, I nod my head at her. Once she is secured in the cage, a single Blazie woman enters. She has a scar on one of her ears. She stalks over to me and grabs my arm. I Magnetize the doorframe to the door and it slams shut. The woman turns around, while she's distracted I manipulate her gravity so she's floating, then slam her onto the floor and crush her so she can't get up. She starts grunting and straining but nothing happens, her facial expression gives way to panic.

"Don't shout," I growl menacingly, "Or I'll release her." I point to Snowbird who's still confined. The Blazie sneers at me,

"You're lying, you can't release her! You're not a Rockie." I crunch the bars slightly with gravity, the Blazie's face pales and I smirk at her.

"Wanna bet?" I hear Snowbird groan,

"Ray-Ray! Stop showing off and get to the point!"

"Right. What's your name?" I ask the guard, she glares at me so I increase the pressure.

"Digit Ashbel," She gasps, I pause, where have I heard that last name before?

"Where do the guards keep their uniforms?"

"On the first floor! In the breakroom!" I smile and nod,

"Thank you for your cooperation," I reach up and crush the bars surrounding Snowbird.

"How about a high five?" Digit starts to gasp and struggle but barely moves. Snowbird steps away from the wall and puts her small hand on Digit's forearm. She opens her mouth to scream so I wedge a piece of metal from Snowbird's cage in between her teeth. I watch as Digit's body goes limp and her hair leaks of its bright orange color and turns into an inky black. Snowbird's white hair has turned bright orange instead. When she's done, I look around the room at the busted metal and sigh,

"What are we going to tell the other guards when they come?" Snowbird cracks her knuckles,

"Leave it to me," I look at her hair then the metal.

"Do you think you could melt it?" She shakes her head,

"No, Digit's powers aren't powerful enough. Crush it into tiny pieces then hide it somewhere, I'm going to work up some tears." I get to work crushing the metal while wondering what Snowbird means.

I've crushed the metal into microscopic pieces then magnetized them to the ceiling. Snowbird is kneeling on the ground by Digit's body whimpering with tears spilling onto the floor. I decide to play along and back into a corner with fake fear in my eyes. Soon enough, three new guards come banging on Snowbird's door. They see me cowering in a corner and Snowbird weeping over a dead guard. She looks at them,

"I didn't mean to!" She sobbed, "The cage never appeared, and then she walked too close to me and my arm touched hers. It was an accident!"

One of the guards glances back at the other two,

"Jax isn't going to be happy with his Rockies. Were they on break?"

I let out a pretend whimper and they turn to me.

"I'll get the Faulty Sparkie out of here. Torque! Phase! Keep your eyes on Snowbird, I'll send down a cleanup crew."

"Yes Calvin."

Snowbird continues to cry while Calvin drags me out of the room. I do my best to contain my smile.
