Chapter 6

Only the sound of the utensils clinking against the plate could be heard as Kiefer, Jacob, and Jacob's mom, Chie, ate together in the dining area.

Kiefer threw a glance at Jacob, who was quietly yet happily eating his meal.

'How is he not feeling awkward after what happened earlier?' the alpha thought as he looked at his plate and continued eating.

"O-Oh my! Kiefer's cooking still tastes the best," Chie said as she smiled at Kiefer.

'What happened between them? They look so awkward. Did they finally do it?' she thought as she looked at Kiefer and Jacob.

"I agree," Jacob nodded as he put his utensils down after finishing his meal.

"Thanks," Kiefer smiled at them, his eyes smiling along with his lips. "There's still a lot so please help yourselves," he continued, still smiling.

"Of course, duh?" Jacob said as he got himself a second plate of the meal.

'Jacob is acting normal. I should do the same. I made it awkward earlier by reacting to the meaningless words he said,' Kiefer thought as he watched Jacob stuff his face with food again.

After the omega swallowed his food, he looked at his mom and said, "So, Mom, why was there a box of condoms on the tray earlier?"

Kiefer, who was already peacefully eating his food and finally acting normally, almost choked on his food upon hearing what Jacob said.

"W-What..." Kiefer kept coughing, unable to even say another word. He immediately grabbed the glass of water in front of him and took a few sips from it just to flush the food down.

"Weren't you guys gonna sleep with each other?" Chie said with a clueless look on her face. "I gave those to you so you won't get pregnant. You have to practice safe sex, dearies," she continued as she looked at the two of them.

Kiefer, who was still taking little sips from the glass, was now choking on the water. He kept coughing and coughing, making Jacob and Chie look at him.

"You okay, dude?" Jacob asked as he tilted his head a bit.

Kiefer coughed some more, and when he was finally finished, it was then when he finally managed to talk properly.

"Of course, I'm not!" he answered with a flushed face, both from feeling embarrassed and from coughing so much.

"Mommy Chie, it's not like that! What I meant by sleeping with Jacob was just 'sleeping' with him. You know, the zzzz thing where we close our eyes and rest?" Kiefer said as the color of his face slowly turned back to normal.

"How could you misunderstand it like that, Mom? That was very unnecessary," Jacob said and sighed.

"Oh? Is that so?" Chie apologetically smiled. "I'm so sorry, my bad," she continued. "I thought you guys already started dating, that's why I did that," she said as she gave them an apologetic smile.

"We're not, though?" Jacob said as he looked at his mom blankly. "We're just friends," he shrugged.

'Just friends, huh?' Chie thought as her eyes traveled towards Kiefer.

The alpha was quiet and was just listening to their conversation without saying anything.

'You say you two are just friends, but you're covered with his pheromones, son. Friends aren't like that, Jakey,' she thought as a small smile curved on her lips.

"Is that so? My bad again," she giggled as she looked at Jacob.

'Right... Jacob and I are friends. We're childhood friends and best friends,' Kiefer thought as he stared at his plate.

"Don't do something like that again, Mom. Look at Kiefer. The little kid looks so uncomfortable," Jacob said and pursed his lips while looking at Kiefer with pity.

"Hey, who are you calling a little kid? We're literally the same age and we were even born on the same day," Kiefer jotted his eyes up and frowned at him.

"Well, I was born first," Jacob shrugged as he smugly smiled at Kiefer. "Yeah, by an hour," the alpha rolled his eyes.

'I guess they're still both kids at heart and mind. They don't even know they're both covered in each other's pheromones,' Chie thought as she smiled while watching the two argue. 'I do hope they'd soon realize they like each other, though,' she thought.

"Come on, boys. Don't fight in front of the food," she scolded them. "You can fight all you want later after you finish eating," she continued and laughed.

"We're gonna continue this later," Kiefer said while jokingly glaring at Jacob. "You're so dead," the omega replied as he jokingly glared back at him.

After they finished eating, the two boys cleaned the table and washed the dishes.

Jacob, who was already finished with his task, looked at Kiefer, who was drying the plates by wiping them with a dish towel.

"Can I shower first? I feel so icky," the omega said while looking at him. "Sure, go ahead. I'll head up after I finish doing this," Kiefer said without looking at him.

"Alright," Jacob said and walked away right away since he could already feel his body feeling a bit sticky.

As he headed upstairs, what his mom said earlier flashed in his head.

'She thought we're dating, huh... Why does everybody think we're dating, anyway? We clearly just have a platonic relationship,' Jacob thought as he took the last step of the stairs.

He went into his room and immediately went inside the bathroom. He removed his clothes quickly and threw them into the laundry basket.

The coldness of the water touching his skin as he turned the shower on gave him relief.

'Ah... This is what I've been wanting to feel,' he thought as he closed his eyes and tilted his head up so the shower would hit his face directly.

Jacob then started washing his hair and then next was his body.

After taking a quick shower, he wiped his body with a towel and then wrapped the lower half of his body with it.

Turning the knob of the bathroom door, he pushed it open. Right as the door opened, Kiefer, who was standing two meters away from the bathroom door, became frozen on his feet.

What stood before the alpha was an omega who was just wearing a towel, fresh from the shower.

With water dripping from Jacob's hair, Kiefer's eyes were first directed to his face and then eventually down to his body.

As he looked at him longer, Kiefer realized the situation they were in.

'Ah, shit.'
