145 21.3R A Brief Respite

To my surprise, Lise actually looked up at me in defiance. She had already managed to escape my headpat hold, and had even moved herself closer to Anna as if she was taking her side on this.

Then again, what did I expect? "Is this really necessary?"

"Absolutely," Anna deadpanned, her expression looking absolute as she stared at me. "I refuse to let you strain yourself when we've already proven that your injuries are more than how they appear."

I actually winced at that. True enough, I had more than just a few broken ribs and a nasty gash on my side. I had a ton of internal bleeding as well. And while Anna did her best to treat me as best she could, the way she sealed my gash shut had pretty much forced us to let my body do its thing instead.

"Well, I'm pretty sure I'm fine now," I rebutted. "I'm even moving around, right?"
