It was painful. Something told me that I should eat the pain so it won't hurt me. I asked it how. Something told me that Oomans made pain. If I ate Oomans like I ate friends, then Oomans will disappear like friends.
Something is very clever. But how should I eat Oomans?
Something told me to sleep. But if I slept, won't Oomans stop me from doing that? Friends went to sleep and we ate sleeping friends. I was unable to sleep like friends.
So, Something sang me a lullaby. It was a sad lullaby. I didn't understand the song. I felt sleepy. Something did nice to me and gave me a 'kiss' on my face. It told me a kiss was a good thing.
I cried as I slept. I felt happy.
.........
There was only one man outside the cell. It was the new guy. He was amusing himself with a metal puzzle he got as a gift.
Suddenly, he felt something ominous behind him. He was on his feet in a jiffy and held a remote. Why was the child so quiet? It usually giggled or made sounds with its hands or feet.
The room was not well lit. The man never really had trouble with the poor lighting before. But right now, at this very moment, he couldn't see further than the entrance of the cell and the thick bars.
He pressed a button on the remote. It sent a jolt of electricity through the collar on the child's neck.
There was still no sound.
He had a horrible premonition and began to wildly press all the buttons that had various effects. One of the buttons was an alarm.
He was about to call for help, but he didn't make it past the exit of the room. The ground cracked and his body was crushed. He died instantly.
The bars of the cell turned and bent and snapped. The alarms had already begun blaring.
Form within the darkness of the cell, soft footfalls sounded as a thin and malnourished child emerged. His walk was unsteady like a newly born calf's. He stumbled and held on to a bar that hadn't snapped.
His limbs trembled with the exertion of using his limbs like that for the first time in his seven years of living. It was exceedingly agonizing.
His mouth parted and he panted, gulping in mouthfuls of air. His heart hammered against his tiny ribcage and his chest heaved. His grip on the bar loosened and he slid down a little.
It took him a few minutes before he stabilised but his body was covered with perspiration. The cold air cooled him down further and he shivered.
A number of hurried footsteps were heard coming towards his location. Heavily armed men trickled into the room with weapons at the ready. Some carried tranquilizers and had already shot them at him as they entered.
The darts didn't reach him. they were flung away along with everything near him by a shockwave with him at the epicentre. The whole place was brought to ruins.
The shockwaves extended around him and spread far and wide destroying everything in its path.
The Child was sleeping throughout it all. His sleep had brought chaos.
