Sitting around we finished the twelve slice pizza that we surrounded at a circular bar table. I eventually stayed silent chewing my fourth slice as Soul and Maliq bonded over their favorite rapper. I was okay once they stopped comparing wheezy to ovo.

“So how’s school, and didn’t you have a game or something?”

“Schools, whatever. Kinda boring.” “Been hanging in the library more. Cause… you know.” He shrugged.

“No what?” Soul continued sipping his drink.

I nodded automatically understanding. Thanking god in my head that he listened even when I wasn’t around. Or course mom being mom made sure she was strict on who he was hanging around but of course being in school kids have the option to listen or not.

“There’s the guys that they don’t want me hanging out with. They go to the other school but hang around mine a lot.”
