4 Speaking with Jor-El

"Sorry for the wait!" I stated excitedly.

"Clark, that was less than a minute. It's fine." Jonathan said.

"Ok. Let's get this show on the road." I said.

I walked to the spaceship and put the key in the octagonal-shaped slot. The ship started to hum and light up. It rose from the ground, hovering there as if waiting for something. Then, it sent out a scanning light before opening the spacecraft. I gently took the weird hard drive-looking thing that was the memory banks for the spacecraft (called The Heart). I placed the Heart in the slot of the interior of the spacecraft and another light-up sequence happened. I waited for the sequence to finish before speaking.

"Jor-El. Artificial Intelligence program. Ship containing the sentience of my father Jor-El. Are you there? This is Kal-El of Krypton."

The ship lit up again and answered, "Yes, my son."

"Jor-El...Father...I'm here with my adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent. I've explained about the destruction of our home planet, Krypton, and about my destiny to help guide the people of Earth as a beacon of hope, representing the sigil of our clan, the House of El. I need to begin my training soon. But before we get into that discussion, can you please do me a favor and heal Martha Kent? She is unable to conceive children, which is one of the reasons they were generous enough to take me in and give me a loving home. They've taken very good care of me, and provided everything I've ever needed or asked for - taught me right from wrong, instilling values that will serve me for the rest of my life. Can you please do something for them in return? I know this ship is equipped with technology to heal Martha Kent's reproductive system or other ailments. Can you heal Martha as a reward for the care she has given your son all these years?"

A few moments passed before the ship responded, "Yes, my son. Martha Kent. Step forward."

She walked closer to the ship as it lit up and a bright light extended out and illuminated Martha for a while before powering down.

"I don't feel any different. Maybe less tired?" Martha said.

"You will be able to conceive children from this moment forward. Thank you for taking care of my son."

A bright smile appeared on my parents' faces and Jonathan responded, "You don't need to thank us. Clark is the best thing that ever happened to us."

The ship didn't respond so Clark jumped in by saying, "Jor-El, I have had visions of the future due to a mystical warrior by the name of Dr. Fate. He is commanded by an entity called Nabu who is a Lord of Order. I'm not sure how much you know about magic, but I guarantee you it does exist and I'm aware of my destiny as a protector of Earth. My hero name will be Superman, and I will be celebrated as a heroic figure that will save the planet time and time again. I've just learned to fly and am experimenting with my other abilities. Before I start my official training, I need to acquire the artifacts scattered across the globe in order to build the crystal fortress that contains the collected information of Krypton. When I build it, I will spend time in the fortress for you to download information into my brain over these next months. I'm aware it will likely take much longer for all of the information to be downloaded, but I need to take it slowly. In order to secure my civilian identity and better serve the people of Earth, I must continue to go to classes, obtaining my Earth education while I undergo my Kryptonian education. As I'm a person of two worlds, I require education from both worlds. Do you agree with this sentiment, father?"

A few moments pass before the ship responds, "I am delighted to hear you embrace your destiny without any words from myself. Of course, I will assist you with gathering the artifacts."

I responded, "Wait. Before we do that, I need to ensure my cells are filled with sufficient solar energy in order to make my flight around the world possible. There are at least three locations where the artifacts are. Father, as an expert on many things including Kryptonian physiology, is it possible for me to leave the atmosphere to get more direct sunlight to saturate my cells?"

"Yes, Kal-El. You should be able to leave the atmosphere. If you've already begun your flight training, you should be able to achieve sufficient velocity before leaving this planet's atmosphere. But a word of caution: Do not go too close to the sun until you acquire enough solar radiation to strengthen your body. Based on my scans, you are 13 years of age, correct?"

"Yes, Jor-El." I answered.

"Then, you are likely too young to go further than directly orbiting this planet. That is assuming you've only taken in indirect sunlight over the years. If you spent many hours in a climate with direct sun exposure every day and were closer to the equator, you may have enough, but let's be cautious and take things slowly." Jor-El stated.

"I agree, Jor-El. I will now disrobe into something that will give my skin more exposure to the direct sun and will spend some time above Earth's atmosphere before returning to you this evening. Is that alright, father?"

"Yes, my son." Jor-El answered.

"Can you please eject the key so I can put it away for safe keeping with my parents? I will return this evening so we can begin our journey for the artifacts." I queried.

"Affirmative." Jor-El responded. The ship started powering down, closing up, and ejected the key. I took the key and gave it to my mother.
