The whole thing with Derek had affected Emily more than she had initially thought. When she had first come home, she had been able to get the fact that she was angry but what she had not anticipated was how long that anger would last. As it turned out, the anger was the long lasting type.

Every single time she thought that it was handled. The anger seemed to find something else to reignite it and then she was off again. Feeling like a volcano ready to explode at any moment.

After spending a few minutes shadow boxing, she had collapsed onto the couch, thinking that her anger was now under control. But then she had thought back to Derek and the self-assured way in which he had asked her to sleep with him, and her rage had come back full force.
