“Soon. It’s almost time to go.”
“Why? Did you already book somewhere else? I thought you got tickets at random!”
“Hey, I do. It’s okay! I just can’t stay forever. Did you want me to move here?”
River pressed his mouth closed tightly.
“I mean, even if I did stay, obviously some things need to change,” Luke continued.
‘Why are you even bringing this up if you’re not leaving yet?” River got out of the car, powerwalking toward the restaurant. Luke hurried to catch up to him and explain.
“Because I think you need to get out. I think you’re done in this town. Don’t you want to leave?”
“What the hell? Everything’s here: my house, my friends, my car. My parents are only four hours away!”
“How often do they visit?”
“Like twice a year! And my cat’s here! I’m not leaving her.”
Luke started laughing. “We bring Jupiter of course.”
