Bar Fight, Part: 2

☆"Previously outside the bar"☆

[Be careful out there. By the looks of this bar, they might have high end demon security patrolling around the outsides so keep your eyes open and watch each other's backs, got it?] Sophie's voice echoed through my head.

[Yes, ma'am.] I responded just like the rest of the team but my mind drifted as to what could be happening in there.

                      {Those demons had better keep their filthy hands off her or so help me…. Wait, what's wrong with me?} I thought to myself, {I need to focus, otherwise this whole operation could be blown. Besides, she's the Black Rose. I'm sure she can handle herself. Yet, why am I feeling this way?}

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see Mia by my side, "Alex-san, did you not hear? We have been given orders and are expected to…"

"I heard what she said, Mia." I half snapped at her, "My mind was linked just like everyone else on this team."

She glared at me then said, "It is not wise to snap at a highly trained ninja assassin."

Just then a throwing star hit the tree I was leaning on, barely missing my head by an inch, "I'd remember that if I were you."

I rolled my eyes. Why is it that ninjas always think of themselves so highly?

I shouldered my axe then turned to the rest of the gang. I pointed to Abby and Danny, and then motioned for them to take the high grounds overlooking the bar's main entrance. They got the hint without me even saying a word (hopefully the rest will catch on) and took off silently into the shadows. Next, I pointed to Mia and signed for her to take to the trees near the backdoor of the bar. She nods then blends into the shadows and disappears.

Then I pointed to Jacob and signaled for him to follow me.

"What about me?" I heard Izzy say in a hushed worried tone.

I had to think quickly about what to do with her. She hasn't exactly proven herself useful as of yet but maybe she can be our eye in the sky. I mean she can fly straight… right?

"Ok, you stay here and be our eye in the sky." I said in a hushed voice, "Got it?"

She smiles a big grin then sprouts her wings and flies high into the nearest tree. With that done, I signaled for Jacob to once again follow me.

=======================

Jacob and I decided on staking out in the shadow of the forest a few feet away from the bar's entrance.

"Hey, Alex, what do you think is going on in there?" Jacob asked.

                     "I dunno." I shrugged.

It was quiet around here… too quiet. For a place that's supposed to have high end demon security, this place was totally unguarded. Kind of like someone planned this. I grabbed my calling crystal, which was a raw cut yellow topaz, and called out to Mia.

                      [Mia, do you copy?]

[Loud and clear, what's the problem?]

[It's too quiet out here.] I surveyed the area one more time and noticed that not one person has been out here since Sophie went in…. in fact I think the ones that were outside went inside when Sophie went in.

[You're right. I've even noticed we haven't even come across a single security guard… demon or human.]

I had to think on my feet. Sophie could have walked right into a trap and might not even know it 'till it's too late. My heart started to beat faster and I could hear the blood pumping in my ear. Ok… I needed to calm down. I'm of no use if I panic and over some stupid reason too.

[Mia, quickly list your special abilities to me… now!] I ordered.

I sensed she was a bit shocked by my mental tone but nonetheless she listed them, [swords mastery, cat-like reflexes, invisibility…]

[Whoa, wait a minute… invisibility? You didn't mention that in the briefing.]

[It's a last resort only.] I don't know what was eating her but now was not the time to ask.

[Ok, whatever. Do you have any cleansing mist style smoke bombs?] I asked.

                       [Yea, why?]

☆ "[Touch me and you die.]"☆

My eyes widened. That was Sophie's voice that just rang through my head. It sounded like she was in trouble. I must be calm and think this through.

[Mia, go to a window and wait for Sophie to give the signal before throwing in the cleansing mist bomb. Then hurry to the front entrance to meet the rest of us, ok?]

   [Understood.]

"Jacob," I walked over and nudged my friend on the shoulder, bringing him back to reality.

                    "Yea, dude?"

"Contact the others and tell them to hurry down to the entrance. We storm the bar on my signal."

"Yes Mister Alex, sir." He said as he did a sloppy salute and then started to giggle like an idiot.

I smacked my forehead at my friend's sheer stupidity, "Jacob, have you been dipping into the pixie dust again?"

He pinches his index finger and thumb so close together but leaves just a tiny bit of space (meaning he did dip into the pixie dust…. again!).

"Are you insane?!?!" I hissed, "We are on a mission and you had to bring your stash with you?!"

"What stash?" I turned to see Abby and Danny standing right behind me.

☆"[Oh crap.]"☆ I heard Sophie say in my head.

"Listen guys, we haven't got much time." I changed the subject quickly, "Any minute now a cleansing bomb is gonna go off and that will be our signal to storm the place, got it?"

They both nodded then took positions by the entrance. These kids took their work very seriously… you just had to give them props on how they did as they were told and didn't ask questions. These kids were like mini soldiers.

[Guys, NOW!] Sophie's voice filled my head, followed by me hearing a window break and people coughing inside.

I readied my axe and stepped over to the door. It was time to kick some serious demon tail. I looked over at Jacob and he had one of the fiercest looks I have ever seen on him. I smirk at him then take a breath and kick open the bar door.
