the reason I wanted this project with riverlands is because I want my soldiers to get used to marash lands and to facilitate more trade. I've gotten permission for a trade post for every city I build road to. but it's not going to be the small market that they think it will be. I've already had a culture of building beautyful and practical things in my army, if I don't give them any new project that culture might be suppressed.

in the year since my conquest of three heads, I've set stricter standards for promotion to silver chevron(rank 4), regarding infrastructure and the best way to learn is by building it. these missions provide great opportunity for new recruits to learn infrastructure while also allowing me to showcase their prowess in both building things and destroying them.

Elia and Jenna are back from myr with an important guest, Archmaester marwyn. he was one of only Archmaester who gave any thought to magic. he had already learnt a lot from his journey through the world and was recently gifted a company of 50 bed slaves by a merchant at lys after curing a perticular poison. he of course freed them when he planned to come to Westeros to bring them here as free humans due to the law here. still they continued following him, even as free people and entertained his bed often. after learning of his presence at lys, I asked Elia and Jenna to meet him there and invite him to dragonstone on my behalf.

I told him that if he has any experience in magic I would love to learn it. after all my magical education up until this point has only been self taught through observation of others performing their magic. only magic I've actually been taught is potion making from the wood witch in winter town.

he is delighted to be able to guide me. he is very passionate about magic but lacks shear talent for it. seeing me light up the cave of dragon glass he hopes to live his magical dreams vicariously through me. as acknowledgment of coming under his tutelage, i give him a Valyrian steel ring with dragon glass inlayed into it for a quarter of its circumference. I,Elia and jenna have a similar ring. it's use is to detect magical usage and in a pinch,it can work as a scrying tool like dragon glass candle, but weaker. the dragon glass inlayed quarter is faced inwards so as to hide it if the fist is closed.

I tell him that this is the only magic I could develop on my own after my dragon dreams. he told me that he would love to explore the world of arcane with me learning as much from me as he will teach me. with his experience and mine, we could probably understand the very nature of magic if we put enough effort in it. he told me of his knowledge of magic users in essos and how they helped him become a better medic.

his medicin is a mix of that if a hedge wizard and an Archmaester, mixing the faith/herbs/magic based healing with science and compleat knowledge of human body. this allowed him to gain favour of many magic users as a scholar and knowing that he was unable to perform any high level magic, they opened up about their practice, and with him giving his own insight into the matter, even sometimes improving their own magic practice.

I told him my army's rank structure and my plan to introduce another rank, rank 6 ( 3 silver chevron). asking Elia to pass something to me, I show it to him, a dog tag. on the tag were her name and her military ranks and Id number assigned to each troop and the date of her enlistment. blood type is yet to be discovered and I'm not a doctor, otherwise it would be there as well.

I then turned around the tag to show it covered in 6 welded chevrons covering the whole dog tag while the last and biggest Chevron has has a mirrored signature, witheach Chevron representing her mastery in different subject, .

the top 2 (1st and 2nd)Chevron is to be same for every member of Maw, iron Chevron,1st representing some basic understanding of Warcraft, representing that they are capable of it and understand it enough to participate. second iron Chevron is to signify them as capable of advanced weapons maneuvers and tactics, hence higher warfare that they will get at rank 2. after all if a soldier doesn't know a tactic, how will they follow it.

the 3rd Chevron can be either silver or bronze, bronze signifying them as either capable of basic scouting and basic navigation using stars, while single silver Chevron represents them capable of first aid and basic understanding of health and nutrition. most soldiers were trained in both, but almost all had a preference for and higher mastery of one over the other. on ships this represented their roles as either navigators , medics and cooks.

4th Chevron made of black(wrought) iron. measters use it for ravenry but bridges and eiffel tower were made from it in modern times, so it represents construction for my army. it also represented that the individual is capable of basic engineering to help lead/supervise construction projects, but still not compleatly capable of creating their own designs and blueprints. this was requirment for rank 4. on ships this marked their role as shipwrights and often vice captain of the ships.

5th Chevron is yellow gold representing trade and commerce. this was required for rank of captian, rank 5. this also, through the expensive metal, represented how valuable they are to me.

the 6 the Chevron was a special one. this was because there was no more space for more chevrons after it, but still left some blank space

, so it was closed at the bottom, filling out the blank space, with a mirrored personal signature of the owner of dog tag. due to its biggest size it also represented advanced mastery rather than basic understanding. each individual rank 5 soldier can specialise in any field and get a corresponding metal Chevron. the 6 th Chevron was equall to forging a chain at citadel. the mirrored signature was to be able to use this tag as a stamp for confidential letters.

this particular one in my hand had the 6th Chevron

made of pewter. it represents Elia's mastery of water works and plumbing. she and Jenna had gone to myr because citadel didn't accept female scholars, and myr was a place famous for learning,a gathering place for artist and scholars alike.

I explained this to marwyn in hopes that he will help me find ways for my army to earn the 6th Chevron. they can gain any knowledge they want after paying for it at myr, but I want to test that knowledge before granting them the 6th Chevron. he himself had forged many chains even outside of higher mysteries and knows other scholars in Westeros and outside ,to help me examine if the applicant for 6th rank is truly deserving of it. of course the courses they learn provide legitimate certificates, but my captain's are getting rich enough to be able to buy those instead of earning them

only Elia and Jenna have dog tags right now and are only ones to hold 6th rank at the moment and even that's not officially announced. these dog tags are prototypes based on which others will be made for all rank 1 and above Maws. with Elia having a pewter alloy, representing her mastery over water and jenna having a green metal alloy made from copper patina representing her mastery of botany and herbs

their 6th Chevron actually have wave like pattern due to alloying their metals with Valyrian steel. this is because they both of them can perform magic related to their fields. I had already told them of my magic while sitting inside a lit fire pit , which failed to burn me, fire doesn't hurt the dragon after all. with me pumping magic into their blood every time we had sex and guiding them with magic, I was able to discover that they had special affinity to specific type of magic.

it made sense to me though with Elia having affinity for water magic while jenna with plant related because of their ancestry. Elia is descendant of Rhoynar ,famous for their water magic and Jenna's family having blood relation with old house of Gardeners(old ruling house of reach) who were said to have blood of the children of the forest in them.

their affinity is why they chose their specific specialization to understand them more ,to be able to utilise them more. Elia can basically water bend while jenna is basically a pale poison ivy . they made much subtler magics as well, that can give them passive boost while making it not look like they are performing magic.
