Skill Forge: Broken Extra Character

Amidst the eerie silence of an unfamiliar hall, a cacophony of confused voices rose, mingling in a chorus of bewilderment. "Where are we?" "What happened?" "I thought I died!" Each utterance hung in the air, a testament to the collective disbelief gripping the room. As the haze of confusion lifted, disjointed memories surfaced, fragments of lives cut short by tragedy. "I remember... I was stabbed..." ventured one voice, echoed by another's affirmation of a similar fate. "I... I died in a plane crash," muttered a third, only to be met with a stunned agreement from a fellow survivor. Amidst the chaos of bewildered voices, one man stood apart, his expression a mask of contemplation amidst the turmoil. As his companions recounted their brushes with death, his mind churned with questions, each more confounding than the last. "I got shot... I remember it vividly," he murmured to himself, his voice barely audible above the din. "So how am I still here?" The enigma of their shared resurrection gnawed at him, compelling him to seek answers in the depths of his memories. With each revelation of a paired demise—a male and female, bound by the same tragic fate—a flicker of recognition ignited within him. "This... this seems familiar," he mused, the pieces of a puzzle slowly coalescing in his mind. But the picture remained incomplete, obscured by the fog of uncertainty that shrouded their surroundings. As the words "pairs, pairs, pairs" echoed in his mind like a cryptic mantra, a sudden realization struck him with the force of a revelation. "It can't be... don't tell me..." he whispered, his voice trembling with disbelief. With a sense of urgency, he began to scan his surroundings, searching for any sign or clue that could confirm his suspicions. Then, as if guided by an unseen force, his gaze shifted upwards, and there, bathed in an ethereal light, stood an angelic figure with golden apparel, its gaze fixed upon him with a warm smile. The sight took his breath away, filling him with a mixture of awe and trepidation. The man's heart raced as faced a real angel, his mind struggling to comprehend the surreal encounter unfolding before him. The angel's words, spoken with an air of amusement, only deepened the enigma shrouding their meeting. "I never expected anyone to notice me," the angel remarked, a hint of playfulness in its voice. "I was concealing my presence to let everyone fully calm down, but to think someone noticed me. Just who are you?" Ethan's disbelief and confusion intensified at the angel's question. "Eh... Ethan Rivers," he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper. As Aurelia, the angel, finally revealed himself to the bewildered assembly, a hush fell over the room, each soul drawn in by his radiant presence and commanding aura. Ethan's gaze lingered on Aurelia. "Greetings, lost souls," Aurelia declared, his voice resonating with a majestic power that seemed to fill the very air around them. "I am Aurelia, and I shall be your guide to your new life." As Aurelia extended his arms in a gesture of welcome, Ethan felt a surge of rage and hesitation, "This it bad, really bad."

Chapter 9: New Siblings

As they proceeded into the church, Jett couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for his exceptionally high luck stat. 'Yes,' he thought to himself, 'thank you, maxed out luck.' With his nerves slightly calmed, he addressed his father. "It's alright, father. Let's just get it over with."

"Right this way, everyone," the priest beckoned, leading them through the lavishly decorated main hall to where the high priest conducted sermons. There, they found a crystal orb awaiting them.

"Do you accept God's guidance?" the priest asked, directing his question to Jett.

Jett turned back as if seeking approval from his parents, only to catch them shedding tears. 'What's with those two?' he wondered silently. However, he noticed Nerissa nodding excessively, as though trying to cheer him on.

"Place your hand on the crystal," the priest instructed.

Jett complied, placing his hand on the crystal surface. Instantly, his stats were displayed, but he had already manipulated them to his liking beforehand. He anticipated some kind of response, but there was nothing. Perplexed, he turned back to see everyone looking at his stats intently. 'Huh? What's going on?' he wondered. 'I'm pretty sure I...' He checked his stats and realized his mistake. 'Crap, I messed up.'

In his haste, Jett had made three critical errors. First, he retained the rare [Magic Swordsman] class, which was highly unusual for a child to have as this was an evolutionary class that only appears for those who master magic and swordsmanship. Secondly, all his stats were set at 5, an average that wasn't typical, as children usually started at 1 and couldn't access experience points until after the awakening ceremony. Lastly, he had no skills. Originally, he was supposed to retain any skills granted during the awakening, but he had become too carried away to notice. These discrepancies were events none of them had ever encountered or heard of before. 'What do I do now?' Jett panicked, realizing the gravity of his mistake.

This was what his stats looked like.

"Haha, wonderful. The Gods gave you an amazing class and some stats instead of skills. Do not worry, my boy. You have me and your mother, and you're the son of a Lord. If it's skills, then there's no problem. My son will definitely rise to the top one day."

Everyone looked at Jerry in disbelief, including the priest. They all wore the same expression of uncertainty: unsure if he was just crazy or too much of an optimist.

Indeed, what Jerry said was a bit ignorant, he wasn't wrong. Even if Jett didn't get a single skill, the problem could be easily resolved, as there were still plenty of ways to acquire skills in this world.

But a new worry came to Jett's mind. "I hope this priest knows how to keep his mouth shut."

Meanwhile, the priest maintained a composed demeanor despite the unexpected turn of events. "Indeed, young master Jett possesses great potential," he said diplomatically. "With the support of your esteemed parents and the blessings of the gods, there is no doubt that he will achieve great things."

Jett's mother, Eva, nodded in agreement, although her expression betrayed a hint of concern. "Yes, our son is destined for greatness," she said, forcing a smile.

Nerissa, Jett's newly discovered sister, remained silent, her thoughts veiled behind a facade of indifference. She observed the situation with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.

On the ride back home, Jett couldn't help but notice Nerissa staring intently at him.

"What's the matter, big sis? You're not planning to assassinate me with another hug, right?" Jett joked, hiding behind Eva.

Nerissa couldn't hold it in any longer. "Magic Swordsman? My little brother is so amazing, it's so cute. Come give big sis a hug," she said, moving closer to Jett, who tried to dodge her, causing a ruckus in the carriage.

Jerry and Eva smiled as they watched their kids. "We truly are blessed with a wonderful family," Jerry said, breaking the silence.

"I agree," Eva concurred, her smile reflecting the warmth of the moment.

A feast was held in honor of Jett's new step into the real world. "Cheers" and other festive sounds could be heard everywhere. Everyone had grown to like the young master. Most times he would go out of his way to help them without needing any form of compensation. He wasn't a troublemaker, and he was well-mannered.

"The Gods blessed him with that class because of his nature," someone yelled, attributing Jett's character to divine favor. "You see, child, this is why you should strive to be a good boy every time," another cautioned her child. Jett had become a role model in the blink of an eye.

Amidst the unwanted attention, Jett had his own mission: avoid his sister at all costs, enjoy the food, and finally get a taste of this world's booze. All he was allowed to drink were juices. Of course, no one would willingly give a 6-year-old alcohol, meaning he had to snatch one while remaining undetected.

Jett activated his skill,[ Tactical Mirage], to deceive the eyes of vigilant adults. However, he found it lacking in tracking his sister's movements amidst the crowded feast. Remembering the skill he picked from the selection process with Aurelia, he thought to himself, "This is why I hate having too many skills. It gets harder to keep track." Then he got an idea: merge it with [Tactical Mirage]. He found a table to hide under and decided to merge them.

"Alright, I'll merge [Tactical Mirage] with

"Hmm, I didn't get a new skill? It just added another attribute to my Previous one, but I lost a skill," Jett muttered, disappointed with the outcome.

He realized that while he gained an additional attribute for Tactical Mirage, he lost the Search skill in the process.

He felt frustrated by the uselessness of the Search attribute in his current situation.

Just as he was contemplating his next move, he felt a familiar vibe that scared him. Slowly turning, he saw Nerissa staring at him with a wicked smile. "There you are, little brother," she said as she grabbed hold of him, forcing him to partake in the event alongside her and ruining any chance of him getting any booze.

At midnight, as the celebration was reaching it's climax. Jett found himself at the tall Bell tower in the center of Lagia, seeking solitude. However, upon arriving, he was surprised to find Nerissa already there. 'Wow, so much for infinite luck,' he sighed inwardly. He stood quietly, observing her, but Nerissa seemed lost in thought and hadn't noticed his presence.

As he moved closer to get a better look at her face, he was captivated by her beauty, amplified by the moonlight. This sight stirred up memories of Ember, causing him to feel even more lost in thought.

"Isn't it beautiful?" Nerissa asked, acknowledging Jett's presence.

"You knew I was here?" Jett inquired.

"Well, you're a long way from being able to sneak up on me," she teased, turning back to take in the view. "This place has changed a lot from the last time I saw it," she continued. "You were right though."

"Right about what?" Jett asked.

"Me leaving because Lagia was too boring," Nerissa explained. "I left because I wanted the thrill, I love an adventure. There's a whole different world out there just waiting to be explored, monsters to take down, even treasures to find. But to do that, I need to get stronger, better. That's why I left. I wanted freedom, yeah it sounds selfish But... I'm sure mother and father understand."

"I think I understand. You decided to walk your own path. Nothing wrong with that," Jett replied.

"Oh? How old are you? You seem awfully calm about it. I thought you'd be furious or something," Nerissa joked.

"I am a bit pissed off, but I do understand. Truly," Jett admitted.

"What did they do to you? You seem too mature for your age," Nerissa said, inspecting his head playfully.

"Cut it out," they both joked, bonding over the moment.

Later, a thought crossed Jett's mind. 'Hmm, she said she was a C-ranked adventurer? That's impossible, she's not even 20 yet.' He pondered, 'What skills does she have anyway?'
