2. The boss called for you

Derek left just as the words left his mouth, leaving Charlotte and Aurora dumbstruck.

Get...Get who?

Aurora's felt choked by his words. She felt a huge lump in her throat which made it difficult for her to breathe. This monster wanted to... wanted to take her away?

"No, no please don't take her away!! Please leave my daughter alone! Please, I'd die if anything happens to her!!" Charlotte pleaded to the men who were roughly trying to pry Aurora from her grip. "I said leave her alone! I'm going to pay the money. Just don't harm my daughter!"

Charlotte's voice was breaking, her throat felt dry and her voice could barely be heard. She had been crying since these people came into their house. But they weren't even listening to her. Her worst fear was about to materialise.

Her daughter! Her sunshine! They were going to hurt her. No way! She wouldn't let that happen.

She held on to her daughter tightly, but it looked like her strength no way matched that of these strong, bulky men. Soon, Aurora was in their grip.

One of them swang her over his shoulder, like she was some weightless bag of cotton wool.

"Let me go! Please let me go!! Mom!!! Please help me. Please!!" Aurora cried while hitting the back of the bulky man with her fists. But she wasn't even sure if he felt the impact, because she felt like she was hitting a hard rock. Her hands started aching and she stopped hitting him, but her tears couldn't stop.

She was thrown into a black van and the door closed behind her. It was completely dark inside, except for the little streak of light coming through the small opening of the two doors.

She heard the revving of the engine and reality dawned on her. She was being taken away! By...by that scary man! Oh no!!

She quickly rose up and started hitting the door.

"Please let me out. Let me go!! Mom!! Please don't kill my mom. Please. Let her go!! Mom!!"

Aurora heard faint cries from a distance. Her mother was crying incessantly. But it looked like the van was moving further away from her, so her voice was meeting silence as the seconds went by till she couldn't hear her voice.

Fear, pain, anger... She was feeling all sort of emotions all at once. Why did this have to happen to her? Why did her father have to work with this man? Huh? Who would want to work for such a dangerous looking man?

And for what reason would he take such a huge sum of money from him? So that was it? Her life was just going to end in shambles? Her whole family was going to be wiped off just like that?

She slammed on the cold floor of the van and cried her heart out. She cried till her throat hurt. Her eyes were hurting but her tears were incessant. She was feeling so much pain.

Her mother was surely going to die if something happened to her. Charlotte was very weak at heart, just like herself. So she knew her mother now was almost on the verge of breaking down.

She was afraid of what might happen to her. She would be devastated if something bad happened to her. She didn't want to lose her mother this soon. She had already lost her father, who died just a few days ago. If she lost her mother too she was surely going to go mad.

She prayed silently that the men should at least spare their lives. Even if they torture them, they would be happy as long as they had their lives.

Her thoughts were interrupted when the van came to a halt. Her heart slammed against her chest, anticipating what was going to happen next.

Soon she heard the door creaking and it was opened. One of the men got in and grabbed her by the arm and dragged her out of the van.

As soon as she was out, another man ceased her other arm and they both dragged her towards a desolate building. Aurora felt so nervous she nearly peed in her pants. Where were they taking her? Were they going to kill her?

And looking at this place, she could be killed and disposed of easily without any trace. So this was how her life was going to end? Tears started pooling in her eyes and they freely fell down her flushed cheeks.

Something dawned on her and she quickly looked around.

"Wh-where's my mom?" She asked but no one responded. She was thinking maybe her mother was put into another van following her. But then she remembered there was only one van. So where was she? "What did you do to her?! Please where's my mother??!!"

The men kept looking ahead, like they were deaf. They kept moving till they got to a strong metal gate and waited. Another man, bulkier than all those men, came from behind and unlocked the door with his fingerprint.

He looked really scary with such huge, bulky and tattooed body. He had tattoos on almost all his body. Well, except maybe his legs, which were covered, but she highly doubted that. Because right from his face down to his neck and all over his arms, he was clothed in tattos. Scary ones at that.

Aurora was dragged into the building. And what she saw surprised her. The interior of the building was nothing to expect from the way the outside looked.

The inside was tastefully furnished with marble tiles and expensive curtains. She couldn't help but sweep her gaze across the hall. Everything screamed luxury in there, and she felt a bit out of place. But that was nothing interesting right now.

"We're inside now, boss." The bulkiest man said through the airpods in his ears, which kicked Aurora from her thoughts. He was probably talking to Mr. Dangerous Man. "Yes boss." He said again and gestured the other men to follow him with Aurora.

She felt nervous as they dragged her through a corridor, descended some flight of stairs and ended up in an underground floor. She was dragged into one room and roughly thrown into it, causing the skin on the left side of her thigh to graze painfully on the hard floor.

"Argh!!" She hissed in pain as her hand went over there. She pulled her skirt down and she saw her skin scratched and bruised severely. She gritted her teeth in pain as she dragged herself to one corner of the room.

There was no window. And the room was lit by a single dim light bulb. There was an air conditioner, which was in full blast. The room felt extremely cold and she shivered.

She moved far away from the a.c. where she would not feel the extreme coldness. She looked around for something like a blanket to cover herself, and that was when she saw a small, narrow bed at the far end of the room.

She dragged herself to it and laid down. Thankfully, there was a blanket. She tightly covered herself from head to toe, coiling herself up like a baby, and closed her eyes.

Tears started pouring again. How did her life end up in such chaos? She was happily living with her parents just a week ago. This life was indeed unfair. She cried and cried and cried until she succumbed to sleep.

She woke up to a sudden rush of cold air around her body. The blanket had been yanked off her body by someone. She quickly snapped her eyes open and saw the bulkiest guy looking down at her with anger written on his face.

'This guy, what did I do now?' Aurora thought as she sat up on the bed. She couldn't tell how long she had slept, and she didnt know if night had already fallen or not. She didn't even have her phone on her.

"The boss called for you. You need to come with me immediately."

"The...boss?" Aurora asked with a shaky voice. She felt nervous once again.

'Oh my God, is it time already? Is he going to finish me up now?' She nervously thought as she looked over to the guy, who was now walking to the door. He didn't even bother to answer her.

Okay, it was an obvious question but couldn't he have, at least, acknowledged that he heard her? Why did everybody seem so angry?

She stood up, forgetting the bruise on her waist until she attempted taking a step when she felt the sharp pain again.

"Sss!!" She hissed painfully and limped her way to the door.

"Hurry up! You can't keep the boss waiting!" Bulkiest guy's voice echoed in the corridor.

What was wrong with this guy? Was he, like, blind or something? Could he not see her limping? Aurora thought as she hastened her steps painfully till they got to a flight of stairs.

The guy took quick steps and was soon midway when he turned. Aurora, by now, was struggling to take her steps because of the pain she felt on the whole of her left side. She tightly held onto the rail for support as she took one careful step at a time.

Bulkiest guy was now furious. This lady... Did she think the boss had all day? The boss had added "immediately" to his instructions. Did she want him to get punished for delaying in bringing her?

He charged towards her and took her free hand in his and attempted to drag her up the stairs when Aurora angrily yanked her hand from his.

"Don't pull me! Can't you see I'm..." The rest of her words got stuck in her mouth when a dirty slap landed on her face.
