His arms went around my waist and pulled me close. He opened his legs, letting me settle in. I pulled back and we stared into each other’s eyes for a moment. Nick reached up and tucked a lock of hair behindmy ear.
“You’re so beautiful, Evan.”
I blushed and tried to look away, but he cupped my chin and held my head in place.
“Seriously, didn’t you notice how much time I was always trying to spend with you? How I tried to find a reason to stay behind when it was time for me to go home? It killed me to leave you.” He licked his lips and leaned up to kiss me softly.
I tried to remember all the times he’d been over, replaying them to see if I could find any hint of whathe was admitting, but I really couldn’t. I shook my head. “I think I was so caught up in trying to not let you see how much I liked you that I was oblivious to everything.”
