ORIN

ORIN - Ever since the Fhusiaran Federation signed the infamous Garnrock Treaty, their uptight relationship with the neighboring Darkwolf Empire seemed to deteriorate with each passing day. Tension would rise, people went out on the streets with makeshift signs shooing away the Imperial influence, and especially on the distant mining colony of Furala, close to the metropolian homeplanet of Fhusiar itself and even closer to the border of Darkwolf territory, several riots had forced the pro-Empire diplomats to move planets and never look back. Even President Arkenlach, the current anchor and leader of the proud, Kiandros people, knew that his prosperous domain was at risk of being attacked and conquered by the turf-hungry canines; so, he came up with a plan that was even less favored among the common rabble that had despised the earlier cooperation. Instead of sending Currs to make up for the mess his people'd made or allowing yet another batch of ambassadors to settle down in the Capital District of Fhusiar, he send meat. The flesh of the young and fearless.

And Orin Elzn Vkerrion, half-brother to Zaide Fros Vkerrion and the most gifted gunsmith of the whole Daywaker District, just happened to be among the wave of young men that were to serve the Darkwolf Empire. It wasn't something he was particularly happy with, mostly because he had to leave behind his disqualified friends, his spectacular job as a freelance mercenary and his girlfriend Pham, who were all to remain on the grimy dustball known as Fhusiar. Still, there was a bright side to it all; both him and his brother knew how to handle themselves, which made the probability of them dying early or being used to throw before the wolves a lot less probable. So, here they were; the fresh-faced outsiders covered in smears of condensed smog, eyes wide with surprise as they walked down a very slick, clear hallway, on their way to the first rendezvous with their unit. Never before the brothers had seen such bright, clean floors and walls, no, they were more familiar with hard architecture, dark skies and dirty skyscrapers. A grittier, shadier life; quite the opposite to what they'd expected, the pair of recruits had been pampered from the moment they arrived at the mothership, or at least treated better than most of their employers did. For the both of them, who'd respectively seen a lot of shit happen - Zaide in particular -, it all seemed like a pompous, totally random scene in an awfully odd and bad flick. Almost alienating.
