"You're right. I wanted you to hear it from him, but we're not in a position to withhold information from each other... Matheus's adoptive father... was killed by one of the 12 Aviccis... more specifically, by Manias... the curse of madness." 

"Adoptive father?" 

"Yes, his name was Gabriel," said Gloria. "You visited his house, right? So, you must have met his daughter, Maria." 

"They're not blood siblings?" 

"Not at all, Maria is Mérida and Gabriel's daughter. In fact, Matheus was already somewhat of a son to him even before the couple met." 

"Who exactly was he anyway?" Asked Li. 

"Gabriel was a demon hunter. He was a member of a church branch created specifically for hunting and annihilation," explained Gloria. "It sounds simple, but he was strong, not just strong but famous. They say his skills were comparable to a vice lord and that he had the potential to become as strong as a lord in a few years."
