Vince wakes up with his phone still in hand. It takes him a few moments to realize he actually slept through a whole night.
He doesn't get it. It's been more than a day already and his string still hasn't tightened. Not even a little.
He knows he can't get his hopes up. When his soulmate decides to sleep with someone again, probably by tonight, he'll suffocate and show the doctors he has to be kept here. He sighs, stretching his arms and sitting up.
"Good morning, Mr. Taylor."
He looks beside him and sees the doctor, taking notes as he checks the machine monitoring Vince's heartbeat and breathing patterns.
"Good morning, sir. You can call me Vince." He smiles shyly.
"You seem to be in a good mood today." The doctor cheers. "How are you feeling?"
Vince blushes, his grip on the phone tightening. Memories of yesterday flash through his mind, and he feels as if Jack's voice somehow recorded itself inside his soul.
