Chapter 5: Loki Familia Assemble!

- Finn Deimne –

In the Twilight Manor's dimly lit conference room, the atmosphere was tense yet charged with anticipation. The seven key figures of the Loki Familia, known as the pillars, were gathered around the circular table. Each of them exuded a distinct aura, reflecting their roles and personalities within the Familia.

At the conference table, the founding trio of the Familia—Riveria Ljos Alf, Finn Deimne, and Gareth Landrock—occupied their positions as the top executives. Their collective experience was a beacon of guidance for the Familia's younger members.

Completing the assembly were Ais Wallenstein, a formidable swordswoman; Tiona and Tione Hiryute, the twin amazoness; and Bete Loga, the tsundere lone wolf. All four were esteemed executives of the Familia, contributing their skills to the group's strength.

Among them was their deity and namesake, Loki, who also attended the meeting with her presence, offering wisdom and insights.

As Finn, the Familia's captain, began discussing the upcoming dungeon expedition in partnership with the Hephaestus Familia, the room hummed with anticipation. "In five days, we shall venture into the dungeon alongside the Hephaestus Familia, led by Tsubaki. Our second-string members will join us, aiming to gain experience in the lower levels," Finn announced, referring to the report before him.

With a call for recommendations, Gareth raised his hand to address the assembly. "I propose we include Raul in the expedition. It's an opportunity to mould him into the greatest vanguard of the Familia before my retirement."

Riveria, the vice-captain, chimed in with a suggestion. "Let's also bring Anakitty Autumn and Alicia Forestlight. Their compatible teamwork could also be honed."

Gareth and Finn, in harmony, accepted the proposal with simultaneous agreement.

Finn nodded, a faint smile gracing his lips. "Good, then it's settled. Now, about the rest of the second-string members who won't be joining us on this expedition..." he paused, gauging the room's reaction.

However, Gareth expressed concern about leaving out certain members. "What of the others from the second string? Won't they feel left out?"

Finn's expression turned solemn, his gaze distant. "True, but we can't deny the dungeon's unpredictability. Some members must remain behind, and we must consider our home base."

As Finn's words carried a weight of sombre realism, the room fell briefly silent, absorbing the reminder of the dungeon's dangers.

"…"

Finn redirected the discussion, suggesting a proactive approach for those staying behind. "To address shortages of materials from our resident alchemist, Amelia. We can assign them to gather valuable resources. The Green Snake Leaf shortage and other rare monster drops could be managed this way."

Attention then shifted to the Familia's other tasks. Finn turned his attention to the rest of the executive, who couldn't participate. "Bete, you should see Tsubaki before we leave. She finished your weapon and asked me to send you in."

Bete grunted in agreement while drawing reactions of resignation from others. Finn smiled as he was familiar enough with the boy's habit. However, when Finn turned his head to the three troublemakers, his heart dropped slightly, and a sudden migraine surfaced.

The atmosphere shifted when Finn's gaze fell upon the trio of notorious troublemakers. Their expressions mirrored the waves of emotions crashing over them from relief to dread. Finn delivered the news with a smile, noting their debts had increased due to their newly repaired gear.

The three adventurers shared uneasy glances, their earlier enthusiasm replaced with discouragement.

"Urk.."

"Ark…"

"…"

The three girls began to doubt life and felt that being an adventurer was not as prosperous as they thought.

Content that the meeting's main agenda had been covered, Finn turned to Loki. "Do you have any additional input, Loki?"

Loki's answer was a playful dismissal. "You've handled things splendidly, Finn. And oh, Dian Cecht requires our presence for a task."

Finn nodded, acknowledging the new task, preparing to adjourn the meeting. However, Riveria's sudden interruption paused the proceedings.

"Finn, before we conclude," Riveria interjected, her gaze steady. "The girls and I have been discussing something that we believe will greatly benefit the Familia. It concerns a certain individual that recently arrived in Orario."

- Loki Familia -

Finn Deimne, currently serving as the Captain of the Loki Familia, attentively absorbed the information Riveria conveyed. Her report delved into the situation, focusing on the enigmatic figure, Suel. The seriousness in her tone indicated the potential significance of this encounter for the Familia's growth and the intricate dynamics of Orario.

Riveria's assessment was crystal clear; Suel's presence had the potential to create seismic ripples through the city. His penchant for mischief and disruption was notorious, but at least his interests seemed rooted in commerce rather than chaos.

Finn took a moment to process the details and acknowledged Riveria's efforts. "Thank you, Riveria, for diligently sharing this information with us. Your swift action in gathering these details is commendable."

Riveria nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips to acknowledge Finn's gratitude.

As the elixirs were presented, Finn, Gareth, and Loki each approached the situation from their unique perspectives. Loki expressed her surprise at the elixirs' mortal origins in her usual mischievous manner.

Gareth's interest was palpable as he examined the Elixir of Iron. As the stalwart shield of the Familia, any method to enhance his protective capabilities was met with enthusiasm.

Loki's comment prompted Finn's mind to wander. "It's indeed impressive that mortals could craft such potent elixirs. Riveria, let's ensure Amelia receives one of each. Her alchemical skills have hit a plateau recently, and these elixirs might offer her the insights she needs."

Finn's intention was clear – Amelia might glean valuable knowledge to advance her alchemical expertise by studying these elixirs. While he respected her abilities, the brews presented a challenge that perhaps no one in Orario could easily surmount.

Gareth, his excitement palpable, chimed in. "Indeed, these elixirs could potentially elevate our combat effectiveness. The Elixir of Iron, especially, could enhance my role as the shield of the Familia."

Loki leaned back, contemplating the situation. "It's intriguing how a single encounter can lead to such unexpected opportunities."

Finn's gaze turned to Riveria. "Riveria, you said about him coming at our manor, correct?"

The topic centred on Suel's appearance at their manor to collect payment for martial arts techniques sold to Tione and Tiona. These techniques came at an astonishing price of 100,000,000 Valis each, prompting both astonishment and skepticism from the room's occupants.

Finn's loyal comrade, Gareth, raised an eyebrow at the hefty price. "Such an exorbitant sum for martial arts techniques? Are they truly worth that much?"

Tiona and Tione, the twins who had invested in these techniques, defended their decision. "Gareth, we assure you, the techniques are worth every Valis!"

Bete, ever the provocateur, couldn't resist the opportunity to taunt. "Scammed, if you ask me. Who'd willingly spend that much on some ridiculous techniques?"

Tiona snapped back, her voice laced with disdain. "Hold your dog mouth, Bete! You wouldn't understand their worth if it slapped you."

Bete scoffed in return. "As if I wanted to learn some lame-ass martial arts skill! You got scammed, kid."

As tensions rose, Finn intervened, gesturing for calm. He silently acquiesced with Bete, even if he was rude about it. Before Loki recruited him and came to Orario, he was trained in a monastery aimed to learn martial arts, and he knew the limit of mortals. So, he was a little skeptical of the boastful voice of Tiona.

He received the scrolls containing the techniques, his intention to assess their authenticity evident. As he reviewed the techniques, his demeanour shifted, a wry smile on his lips.

The room's occupants awaited his judgment, sensing a twist in the situation. "It seems, Bete, you might have been too hasty in your judgment," Finn remarked, eliciting stunned expressions from his audience.

Finn's revelation that the techniques were genuine caught them off guard. Gareth, in disbelief, questioned, "You mean to say that these techniques are real?"

Finn's eyes glinted with excitement. "Indeed, they are old friends. They hold significant potential for our Familia's growth."

Bete's disbelief gave way to indignation as he prepared to seize the scroll from Finn. Tiona swiftly intervened, her satisfaction evident. "See, mutt? Maybe you should think twice before barking."

Bete's face turned green as if he ate shit, and he soon regretted opening his mouth to simply antagonize Tiona.

Gareth, the mediator, interjected humorously. "Enough, you two. Let's focus on the positive. These techniques could be great for our growth."

Finn, his enthusiasm uncontained, addressed the twins with hope. "Tione, Tiona, could you share these techniques with the rest of the Familia? Imagine the progress we could achieve if everyone had access."

Tione readily accepted while Tiona hesitated. Finn, understanding her concerns, offered a solution. "Tiona, don't worry. The Familia will cover the expenses, and you'll have first access to the scrolls."

With their concerns eased, the Twins agreed to share their newfound knowledge. The room's atmosphere lightened, and a sense of unity reestablished.

Riveria's gaze shifted to the scrolls, a plan forming in her mind. "Finn, we should consider acquiring the remaining four techniques. They could prove invaluable."

Finn concurred, turning to Loki for the necessary resources. Loki's permission was swift, and Finn's thoughts wandered to Ais, observing her silence throughout the meeting.

Finn directed his query to Ais, inquiring about the nameless blade, the Asauchi. Ais handed him the sword, and Finn examined it closely, finding nothing extraordinary. He couldn't find anything that would attract him. It felt like an ordinary sword that could be found anywhere in Orario.

"How do you feel about this sword, Ais?" inquired Finn with some doubt about her feelings towards the sword. Ais hesitated but ultimately replied, "Good."

"… Good?"

"Yes, good."

"I felt a faint link between me and this sword…"

"Hohoho, is that the symbiotic link mentioned by the guidebook?" said Loki aloud as she looked through the book brought by Ais.

"Loki?"

"No wonder this guy would sell this amazing blade at such a low price… Cultivating the soul is no easy feat for a mortal. It's not even exaggerated to say quasi-impossible."

"If you can't awaken the Asauchi into a Zanpakuto, then the asauchi is practically a common sword that can be found anywhere in the city."

Finn's curiosity piqued. He skimmed through the book, fascinated by the concept of awakening a Zanpakuto. Loki explained that Suel's seemingly low price was due to the rarity of successfully awakening an Asauchi into a Zanpakuto.

"But even then! Isn't the price a little ridiculous?" complained Finn with a wry smile.

"I think so too, but I understand where this Suel comes from."

Finn sighed as he licked his dry lips. "Zanpakuto, what a powerful artifact…"

As Finn absorbed this newfound knowledge, he sighed, contemplating the potential power of such artifacts. He refrained from acquiring one, recognizing the time and dedication required.

His priority remained as the Familia's leader and tactician, but he acknowledged the potential in their midst. With these thoughts, the meeting concluded, leaving the Loki Familia with new insights and opportunities to pursue in the ever-unpredictable city of Orario.

- Suel –

Suel and Zald approached the Twilight Manor, greeted by the vigilant gatekeepers who barred their path. The first guard, spear at the ready, attempted to be aggressive to Suel and Zald. "Halt! This is the residence of the Loki Familia! State your business!"

Suel cleared his throat and responded with calm authority, "I am Suel, here to collect payment from Tiona Hiryute and Tione Hiryute. I possess a contract signed under the oversight of the vice-captain, Riveria Ljos Alf."

The gatekeepers fell into silence, their expressions shifting to professionalism as they verified the presented contract. One of the guards signalled the other to leave the gate for further proof.

The only gatekeeper left bowed in apology. "I'm sorry, gentlemen. I didn't know about it."

"Don't worry, you are only doing your job," Suel said as he waved the man's concern. He didn't blame them; they were too weak to do something to him and Zald.

Suel and Zald didn't wait too long as they noticed the commotion from the manor. Their attention was drawn to a growing crowd as they saw the entire executive of the Loki Familia, led by their deity, Loki.

'Interesting…' thought Suel as he observed everyone fearlessly, including their god Loki.

The man at the forefront, whom Suel assumed was Finn Deimne, approached with a welcoming demeanour. "Greetings, you must be the merchant, Suel. I am Finn Deimne, Captain of the Loki Familia."

"A pleasure to meet you, Finn. I am indeed Suel."

Finn extended his understanding of the situation. "We have been informed about your visit. We also want to purchase the remaining Rokushiki techniques, except for the seventh one."

Suel's surprise was met with a willingness to accommodate such fierce customers. "Certainly, you're welcome to examine them before deciding."

Suel presented the four scrolls. Finn's excitement was evident as he signalled his comrades to ready the payment. Bags filled with Valis were prepared under the watchful eyes of Garreth and Bete.

"Would you like assistance transporting these?" Finn asked with a smile.

Suel waved his hand dismissively, causing the bags to vanish—a demonstration that astounded everyone nearby.

Finn acknowledged the mystique with a wry grin. "Truly intriguing."

Satisfied with the transaction, Suel and Zald made to depart, but Loki interjected, introducing an unexpected topic—the pricing of the Asauchi.

Suel regarded Loki with suspicion, his curiosity piqued by this unanticipated subject. "Is there a particular reason for this topic, Loki?"

Loki's reply was earnest, conveying her intention. "I hope you might consider raising the value of the Asauchi."

Suel's initial surprise evolved into a cautious skepticism. "And why would this matter to you, Loki?"

Loki's explanation unfolded, her words heavy with a sense of concern. "I'm driven by a desire to curb the spread of these enchanted weapons throughout Orario. While humanity holds immense potential, they are also vulnerable to their own ambitions, and therein lies the potential for unforeseen consequences."

"I'm wary of the possibility of many individuals wielding such potent magical implements within Orario. This could lead to a grave crisis if mortals grow too audacious. I also wish to prevent another era of darkness from befalling the mortal realm," Loki stated with a gravity that underscored her words.

Suel responded with a subtle note of curiosity. "However, as a goddess, you should be able to grasp the essence of my intentions. Nurturing a mortal's soul is a complex endeavour, even with my assistance. There's a chance that certain individuals might not even awaken their Zanpakuto before their destined time arrives. In such cases, those Asauchi would remain nothing more than ordinary swords."

Loki countered, her tone gently challenging. "Are you perhaps underestimating or forgetting the potential of humanity, Suel? Have you overlooked the countless heroes who have risen and achieved great glory? We deities descended from the heavens not solely out of boredom but out of genuine fascination for humanity. We wanted to be present, to bear witness to mortals' accomplishments and see them craft their own legends. While your concerns about the Asauchi's immediate utility or the rarity of awakenings may hold merit now, what about the years to come? The next decade? Or even centuries down the line?"

"All they require is hope, and these weapons provide just that. Everyone, including us deities, is driven by desire. How about mortals? They are among the most self-centered and desire-fueled beings in this realm. Sooner or later, they will ascend to the peak of the world," Loki concluded solemnly as her words lingered in the air.

"Almost forgot how I found my place in the guild... How I became a travelling merchant amidst them," Suel mused, a tinge of nostalgia colouring his thoughts. He had momentarily lost touch with his mortal roots, perhaps influenced by his years of traversing diverse realms as a merchant.

"And we mortals start at the very bottom, and who's to say how far can we ascend?" Suel's words added, his voice stronger and filled with conviction.

"That's the potential of humanity," Suel mumbled, speechless. His body trembled slightly, prompting cautious glances from those around him who feared they might have upset him.

However…

"Kuh, hahaha! HAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Suel's laughter erupted unexpectedly, reverberating with a joyous resonance. He laughed with abandon, his amusement a testament to Loki's affirmation of his decision to embrace this world.

Loki, perplexed by his reaction, received a pouch tossed her way. "Consider it a gift, Loki. It's a bottomless storage pouch that can hold anything non-living. Thank you for the lesson."

As Loki caught the pouch, Suel spoke with a newfound clarity. "Until we meet again, Loki Familia."

"Wait!" shouted Loki as she held the pouch with some disbelief.

With those words, Suel and Zald departed, leaving behind a group that an unexpected exchange of perspectives and gifts had enlightened.

"Till we meet again, Loki Familia."

I received a lot of love from you guys, and thank you for the reviews!

I really appreciate them o7
