A New Lead

He watches me for a few moments before he looks back to the book in his hand. He completely forgets everything else as he sees the markings and quickly opens the book. He scans the first page and a smile slowly stretches across his attractive face.

After he flips the second page I sigh and give up. I walk over and demand to see MY book. His smile grows and he shows me the book as he continues to read but I quickly find a problem... it was written in the weird markings... like the ones on his arm.

"Can you read this?" I ask and he slowly nods. I blink a few times but he completely ignores me as he loses himself in the book. I sigh and step away rubbing my face. "What does it say?" I ask in annoyance but he just puts up a finger asking me to wait.

I throw my arms up and turn around in annoyance. "Chip, is there anything else like the book in this room? Besides the fireplace..." Chip beeps as he begins scanning everything I look at and I do my best to ignore Alec but when I said fireplace his head whips up and looks at it with awe.

I sigh yet again and go back to looking at everything in the room but Chip says "Other than the book and the fireplace, nothing else has the same or similar markings. Are these markings another language?" Chip asks in my ear and I say "From what Alec just said, yes."

Chip beeps and says "Then I will begin searching for it online and see if I can find anything." I nod and say "Thank you." I look back to Alec and find him watching me with a small smile. "What?" I ask and watch as his smile grows.

"I always wondered who you were working with and how you were so good at what you do but it somehow all makes sense now. With Chip, you have the ultimate AI at your fingertips. Giving you access to anything and anyone with electronics." I give him a strained smile but it only causes him to chuckle so I just go back to glaring at him.

This time he begins laughing so I give up and sit on the floor bringing out my cell phone to kill time. My phone is connected to the computers back home so I was able to check in on everything even when I'm away. I pull up the searches I started before and smile when I see I finally have a lead. It's not much but it was something.

His laughter completely dies off when he sees me smiling at the phone. Alec frowns and walks over to see what she's doing but when he sees the screen all he can see is a black screen with a ton of writing all over the screen and it keeps moving at a ridiculous speed.

She indeed made Chip but she is a fully capable hacker... I watch as she brings up her keyboard and begins typing away. After a few moments, the codes across the screen begin to change and move quicker. What was she doing?

Her smile grows as she says "Trace them Chip... and don't stop no matter what. I'd like to see how far they run this time." She nods her small head and I see an evil light flash across her eyes causing my insides to turn. She was so damn beautiful it hurts at times and this book...

I look back to the book and then back to the woman sitting on the floor. What was her connection to all this? I look around the room again but other than seeing it was obviously a study of some kind I had no idea where this was... How was she connected and where was this? Why did it feel like I accidentally stepped somewhere I shouldn't have...
