Silent Darkness

A boy who leads a normal life living and caring for his family suddenly hears a voice at school, a voice from a god from a higher world looking down on his world. This spells chaos and destruction for Earth and all of humanity; a plea for help. The help of a hero or a messiah, one who will banish these fake gods and relish as the real ‘God’. An Opportunity! I also upload this Web Novel on a Website called “Royal Road.com” Attention: This Web Novel is currently on a hiatus. I am going to try my best to stack enough chapters until I get to the point where I can confidently post chapters, while being able to write at a determined pace.

Chapter 5 - Abandoned at Sea

"Captain… there's a ship approaching the island we're on right now!"

"What… that just doesn't make sense," I said with boiling anger in my veins, wondering whether it was friend or foe, or a mixture of both.

"Everyone… lineup for battle!"

"Yes sir," The crew mates had answered with bloodlust.

After another few moments of anticipation and anxiousness, the ship approached us.

In another few minutes they had finally arrived at this island.

"Are you here to get rid of those damn pirates, or are you here to side with those hooligans?" "State your answer quickly," I ordered.

"My, quite feisty, aren't  you old friends," the man said from within the ship.

As the man in question left the ship, all of my soldiers prepared for battle with rifles, swords, and and stick or sharp object they could find.

But that wouldn't matter in the slightest.

As the men and women shot their rifles, time stopped for an instant, and that's when I saw it.

The man in question was no ordinary man. No, he was a god, an old friend and new foe.

He was the god of souls; Kokkaku.

Dressed in silver lined clothing, with a dark shade of black imprinted on his bow tie, a fancy and exquisite top hat.

He was one of the strongest.

An overwhelming aura of shining silver surrounded him, and a overly cocky smirk on his face showed it all.

He was truly a god; someone of no man's equal, an omnipotent being in this world.

I was scared shitless.

"Wow such foul manners, coming from such a vile man," Kokkaku stated as he chuckled under his breath.

"Why would someone of your caliber be here," I said in desperation of an accurate reply.

"I was sent here obviously dumbass," he said as he started to clap at my stupidity.

"But why…"

"Because your a wanted man, "Nusuma," Kokkaku said as he started to walk towards me.

"But I'm innocent."

"You don't get it… they want your "alter ego" abilities for themselves," he said, revealing secret information so casually to a "criminal" or man in question.

"So that's what this is about, they want my alter ego, well… they're going to have to come and steal it if they want it so badly to put a bounty on my head," I said pissed off at the thought of my higher ups wanting my power.

"Well… I don't think I can accept your request, "young master", you're going to need a better answer than that if you want to survive."

"I'm not going to give up the authority over my powers to a power hungry organization, just to become fodder in the long run of business."

"I gave you two chances to keep your innocence in the "Seinaru", Nusuma."

In less than a second later he had his long, silver blade of many centuries at my jugular.

He was seriously ready to kill me.

Without hesitation I dodged the fatal attack from his soul sealing blade, and parried with a sharp kick to the center of the blade.

Then began to circle Kokkaku and tried to outspeed him at my best, but was unable to achieve that.

After failing to outspeed my opponent I let my mind drift, to think of a way that I could possibly defeat a "Transcendent" god in combat.

Unable to think of a good strategy to beating him, I had to keep dodging his huge sword of many abilities and hoping that he doesn't hit any vital organs.

Then I had decided to use my trump card; a sought after ability.

I parried Kokkaku's blade again and jumped back, far enough away that he couldn't reach me instantly with his blade and said…

…RAGNAROK!

A dark shade of pitch black encompassed my body and I felt the rate at which my heart beat increased to be exponential, but felt like I was on top of the world.

"So this is the so-called, world shattering power that the Seinaru is interested in, so much that they want you dead as a dog," he said condescendingly to me, as if I was nothing but a cow in a butcher's shop.

Continually I could feel my power increasing by the second, and could feel the domain of darkness surrounding the entire island of forests and mountainsides, it… it was magical.

I felt like this was the pinnacle of power, a true peak in abilities. I had only acquired this ability less than a decade ago, but have never had a real reason to use this version of "Death".

I felt as if Kokaku had become the cow at a meat shop, and that I was the butcher ready to slaughter. I felt truly extraordinary, possibly even powerful enough to scratch "him".

After creating these nonsensical conundrum of inexplicable emotions in my brain, I felt at ease. And that everything would be alright.

No one would get hurt or killed today…

I thought.

As soon as I felt like I was at the peak, I lunged at Kokkaku with a roaring fist of mythical blackness at his chest at point blank range and precision.

As I was less than a second away from incapacitating him I felt a sharp hurling pain, like stepping on lava caressing my lungs.

It was him

At that instant I saw in the crowd a very familiar man in a dark suit and royal tie.

He was on the ship the entire time until now.

It was Ensui.

He was testing me all along. I had failed him and was no longer useful.

The last thing I heard before being sealed by Kokkaku was…

"Wow Nusuma you really do have a frightening alter ego," he said with an impressed but not satisfied look on his face.

Then I looked down to see what he was referring to and saw it.

I had completely destroyed the island, and my fellow crew mates, but hadn't put a scratch on either Kokkaku nor did I on Ensui.
