Side Story Hero

*** Important Notice: I have decided to make a few changes to the story to round out the characters. The main plot points will remain the same. I am also removing/ combining some chapters. Alex is your average 16 year old girl except for one problem, she is a walking disaster. She has no coordination, stumbling through her daily life attempting to avoid the destruction of anything and everything around her. Koa is an Elf Warrior of the High Guard. However, his black hair, something only seen in Dark Elves, has caused distrust. In order to prove himself, Koa agrees to embark on a journey to retrieve the three Mysteries of Power, starting with a book. They have nothing to do with each other. Then the two collide (quite literally), and everything changes, for both of them. Suddenly Alex finds herself in a different world stuck with an elf on an adventure of a lifetime. Except Alex is an accident on two legs and Koa has no time to save the world from evil. He’s too busy trying to save it from Alex.

Chapter 12

Alex could hear someone calling to her through the fog. She tried to follow the sound, but it seemed to be coming from everywhere. "Koa? Where are you? Koa! " Alex called out to the familiar voice. Finally, shehe noticed a light shining through the fog. It seemed to be growing larger and larger and the voice became clearer and louder. Alex started running toward the light, "I'm coming!" She yelled out as the light swallowed her.

Alex slowly opened her eyes to find a pair of violet eyes looking back at her.

"Alex! Oh, thank god. " Dylon leaned down and threw his arms around Alex. Alex was too weak to fight him off and too confused to really care. Finally Dylon let go and pulled back. He reached out and brushed away her damp hair. "I was so worried. When you just collapsed... thank god you're okay."

"Where's Koa?" Her voice was barely audible. Dylon handed her a water bottle and helped her to sit up. She drank greedily before repeating herself.

"Where's Koa?" Alex repeated herself.

"... He left." Was all Dylon said. Alex noticed is expression darkened.

I was sure it was Koa that was calling to me. Alex thought to herself. For some reason she felt disappointed. Did she just want it to be Koa? If so, why? She looked back to Dylon who appeared to not be happy at all.

"Do you like him?" Dylon's voice sounded unhappy catching Alex off guard.

"Huh? I just met the guy. " Alex was defensive, which surprised even herself.

"He's not good for you." Dylon said matter of factory.

"What do you mean he's not good for me. And why do you care? " Her voice, though still scratchy became louder. Why the hell am I getting upset? Alex asked herself, confused about her own emotions but unable to control them.

"I don't want you around him." Dylon's voice was cold, as were his eyes. It almost sounded like he was ordering her rather than warning her. It scared Alex.

Suddenly Dylon was smiling warmly at her again. "I'm just worried about you, Alex. The guy just looks like trouble. " Dylon's voice had returned to its usual gentle tone she was used to hearing. She felt herself relax slightly.

"So, um, I was going to ask you earlier if maybe you wanted to go to the theatre this weekend?" Dylon's cheeks turned pink but he kept eye contact.

Alex stared back her jaw hanging open, an awkward silence building between the two. Of course Alex's brain was currently in overdrive so the awkwardness were more Dylon than Alex. Meanwhile, Alex's brain was busy trying to decipher what was just said. "Wait, did Dylon Smith just ask me out on a date? Like a date, date? No, that's not... I must be still asleep or something. " Alex decided this was obviously a very convincing fantasy and pinched her on the cheek.

"Ow!" Alex being Alex pinched herself just a little too hard and yelped.

"Whoa!" Dylon had nearly fallen out of his seat due to the surprising yelp. Naturally, he was expecting a more standard response such as "Yes, I'd love to" or "No, but thanks for asking."

After regaining is a position he turned his attention back to Alex. "So, is that a yes?"

Alex could now feel the heat rising to her cheeks, but she managed a nod.

"Sweet!" Dylon had a huge smile on his face. He actually grabbed Alex by the shoulders and hugged her. "This is awesome! You won't regret it."

Somewhere in the excitement Dylon had put his number into Alex's phone and vice versa. He mentioned the play was on Saturday andthenn he would text her the details. Just has the end of lunch bell rang Dylon left for class.

Alex had a smile on her face. She had to admit she was excited and nervous. However, there was one other feeling she couldn't put a name to. Her mind returned to how cold and possessive Dylon was when he mentioned Koa. Something just didn't feel right. Alex shook her head. She probably imagined it. Besides, this was Dylon Smith, Monarch Secondary's Prince Charming.

"Yeah," Alex said to herself, "this is fine. No, it's awesom. ." She smiled as she left thenurse'ss office.
