The Gift Box

It's a month to the annual awakening ceremony. The students in Kais Academy were seen busy studying their books, reading facts, for their various courses, all around the school.

Only one person was seen with his phone obviously flirting with a girl on WeChat.

Shujin was about to ask the girl on his phone '' Will you be free tomorrow for a date? '' when a voice appeared out of nowhere.

'' Shujin! Aren't you a disgrace to our Kais Academy? I hope you won't bother attending the awakening ceremony or even bother for the awakening. You might not even awaken anything. '' Aoki mocked him while his friends laughed.

Shujin immediately got annoyed. This brat was always getting on his toes just because he had an impressive grade. He couldn't bear his anger and directly confronted him.

'' You shameless dog! How many times have I've warned you to stop barking in front of me! Your saliva is contaminating my face... please get away from me! '' Shujin didn't show mercy.

'' You... you! I'll deal with you! Guys beat him up! '' Aoki ordered his lackeys who gathered to deal with Shujin.

Later that day, Shujin was seen at the sick bay with a healer taking care of his injuries.

'' Sigh... Shujin, how long do you plan on being a badmouth? Look what it has caused you. '' The healer sighed while Shujin rolled his eyes.

'' I was only defending myself. I can't stand it when people are mocking me! Just because his grades are better than mine doesn't mean he can disrespect me. I can easily surpass his grade if I want to... ''

'' Then do it Shujin, do it! How long do you plan to live like this, not taking your studies seriously? The awakening ceremony is a month from now. What you do in there will either make a name for you are make you lose face. You can't seriously be behaving like this. '' The healer sighed again after treating Shujin's injuries.

'' You have to rest for at least 5 days to get back to your normal health since your body system is still too weak. '' Hikari informed him signaling him to leave.

'' What?! 5 days? How can my system be so weak? Please do something! I have girls to go on dates with! '' Shujin almost went crazy.

'' How perverted can you be to not care about your health?! You had dislocated your arms, nose, and your waist. You had internal bleeding because your arteries were injured. Your skull was broken almost causing concussion. I have helped treated these and you are complaining because I said you should rest for 5 days? Well, you can continue going on dates but I'll promise you that I won't heal you till you graduate from this school! '' Healer Hikari said angrily and Shujin sighed.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

'' Come in. '' Hikari said.

A young boy came in and sat near Shujin.

'' How are you feeling? '' Aito asked.

'' I'm good. What happened with Aoki? ''

'' Is that the only thing you are concerned about? You should have enough rest and prepare for the awakening ceremony! '' Aito rolled his eyes.

The duo got up whit Aito helping Shujin up and the both of them left with Aito thanking the healer.

It was already closure so they packed their bags and left for Shujin's house.

'' Sigh... I really want to become stronger so I can beat the crap out of Aoki and his lackeys. '' Shujin sighed.

'' Well, I'm not trying to discourage you or something but that guy is from a well known magic family in this city. I have no doubt that he'll awaken an element with his bloodline and knowledge.

But you... you neither have the bloodline or knowledge. I suggest that you study really hard and increase your mental strength for the awakening because that's what the tutors can't help you with. '' Aito sighed.

He saw him off to his house and helped him to his room. Shujin's mother happened to be at home.

'' Shujin! Aito! You are both welcomed. Why is Shujin looking so pale, Aito? '' Shujin's mother who happened to be doing some laundry asked worriedly.

'' He got an accident ma. '' Aito sighed . '' I'll just help him to his room. ''

After helping Shujin to his room, Aito left but not without scolding Shujin for his nonchalant behavior towards his future.

Shujin on the other hand fell deep in thought. He was not made for this! Why would his mother force him to study magic anyway? couldn't he just be like other humans who could go to normal schools and become CEO's, models, actors or even singers? Magic just wasn't for him. He'd rather date girls and befriend them than doing what his heart didn't carry.

Just then a knock accompanied by a voice interrupted his thoughts.

'' Shujin! '' His mother called opening the door. She was holding a wooden box.

'' Shujin! Please seat up. I need to tell you something. '' His mother said sitting by the edge of the bed. Shujin looked at his mother and sighed.

Finally sitting up, he asked.

'' What is it Hahaoya? What are you holding? ''

'' Sigh... I'm supposed to give you this after your awakening ceremony but I just can't help giving you this now. Your father left this for you before he died. He said I should give you during your middle high school or preferably after the awakening ceremony. You should open it to see what's in it. '' Mrs Hashimoto said handling him the box.

He opened it and found out there was a gift pack tied with a ribbon. Underneath the ribbon was a letter. He opened the letter...
