2 The First Day At Matsugaya Senior High

A few days passed and I was registered at Aisha's school called Matsugaya Senior High. It was a pretty big school made up of different classes such as class A-1, A-2, A-3, B-1, B-2 and so on and so forth. Because of my grades I made at Phoenix Wildcat High in Arizona, I was able to make it to class A-1. Aisha and I walked to class together and the teacher saw me and asked me to wait outside. I nodded and Aisha walked in the class then the teacher stepped out.

"You must be new here today?" The man asked and pushed up his glasses. "We only wear uniform on uniform day."

"My mistake." I bowed.

"Oh? Your Japanese is very fluent." The man smiled and held out his hand. "My name is Mr. Hoshida. Pleased to meet you."

"Motosaki Izuna." I said and shook his hand.

He nodded and walked into class and I followed. Everyone stopped talking and their attention was on me. I looked at everyone in the class.

"Good morning class, I hope you had a great summer break. Today we have a transfer student from Arizona in the United States. Would you please introduce yourself for the class." Mr. Hoshida looked at me.

"Yes, my name is Motosaki Izuna. I am a Japanese-American. It is a pleasure to meet you all today." I bowed then stood up straight.

The class murmured as they didn't expect my Japanese to be so good. Aisha smiled at me and gave a slight thumbs up.

"You can take your seat that's beside Rebecca. Would you raise your hand Rebecca?" Mr. Hoshida asked.

The girl who was in the fourth seat in the back row raised her hand. She had long blonde hair and brown eyes. She had a more mature body type for her age. I nodded and walked towards the seat I was assigned to and sat down beside Rebecca. She looked at me and smiled.

"My name is Rebecca Haruna. It's nice to meet you." Rebecca said.

"It's nice to meet you as well." I looked at her and smiled at her.

"Alright class, today we will just be doing a slight review of last year's lessons to see if you still--"

The door swung open and a girl with long black hair and lavender eyes walked into class. She looked at Mr. Hoshida and he looked at her.

"I'm sorry for coming into class late, the train wouldn't start so I ran here." The girl said.

"Ahh I heard about the train, well it's fine. You are excused, take your seat and get ready to review." Mr. Hoshida said.

"Hai." She nodded and hurried to her seat.

Mr. Hoshida began teaching the class. Since I was new I didn't know what he was talking about completely, but I understood the concept. Rebecca let me copy her notes down in my notebook. After I was finished, I handed her notebook back to her. Mr. Hoshida's voice was rather soothing and made it easier to learn. Most of the teachers in America sounded like they had their soul ripped away from them, but I don't blame them. Schools in America have plenty of delinquency activities, but here every student is quiet and makes it easy to learn, even though there were some slackers they didn't prohibit learning for everyone. The bell rang for lunch and everyone closed their notebooks and got up.

"Make sure to make it back on time." Mr. Hoshida said.

"Saki-kun!" Aisha sat in the seat next to me and scooted her desk over and smiled. "Thank you for making our bento boxes."

"Ahh, Motosaki made lunch for you two?" Rebecca came over to sit with us.

"Mhm!" Aisha nodded and took out her bento box. "Rice with meat and veggies!"

"Are those...squid shapped hotdogs?" Rebecca pointed and smiled.

"Yep! His mom would always make it for us, she said it's a habit since she was in the cooking club in Japan." Aisha said.

I took out my bento box and sat it on the desk and opened it. Rebecca did the same then the class door swung open.

"The best girl is finally out of class!" A voice sounded then I looked over and saw a petite girl with short brown hair in two pigtails walk in the class.

"Emma, there's no need to come in like that." Rebecca laughed a bit.

"Re-bec-ca!" Emma skipped towards our table and sat down then saw me. "Eh? A boy is joining the group?"

"No need for that attitude now." Rebecca said. "This is Motosaki, a transfer student from America."

"Hey." I raised my hand slightly.

"He speaks Japanese also? Well new guy is sure smart." Emma said.

"You would also be in Class A-1 if you weren't such a slacker." Rebecca said.

"Emma and Rebecca are very close, they've known each other since they were in kindergarten." Aisha smiled.

I nodded. I could feel the connection between the two. It was something like fire and ice, Rebecca was the ice because she was the calm and collected girl and Emma was more of the fire aspect because of her animated personality. I noticed the girl who came in late was eating by herself. I stood up and went towards her and Aisha watched.

"Hey there." I tapped her shoulder and smiled.

"Mmm?" She looked at me with the chopsticks in her mouth then took it out. She swallowed what was in her mouth then spoke. "I haven't seen you before, what's your name?"

"My name is Motosaki Izuna, a transfer student." I said.

"A transfer? I've heard about you, you're basically the talk of the school right now. We don't normally get any transfers around. My name is Otsuki Nagagami, it's nice to meet you." Otsuki smiled at me.

"Why don't you join us for lunch instead of eating alone." I suggested.

"Mmm." She nodded and I went back to where I was sitting and Otsuki pulled up a chair and sat with us.

"I'm surprised you convinced Otsuki to join us." Aisha smiled. "She normally always wants to be alone, but we always invite her out since she is our friend."

"Knowing you, you probably didn't try hard enough." I pinched Aisha's cheek.

"H-Hey! I do try hard!" Aisha blushed.

"How long have you known Aisha?" Rebecca asked.

"Practically since birth. Her mom and my mom were close friends since they were in school." I said and let go of Aisha's cheek.

Otsuki ate her lunch quietly as we talked. I looked at Otsuki and she looked at me and tilted her head. I smiled and she looked back down at her bento box. We all ate our lunch and chatted for a bit. Mr. Hoshida looked at our table and smiled, he knew I'd fit in at this school just fine.

"Being in class A-2 isn't so bad. I had B's and an A. Being in Class A means I'm super smart. I just don't apply myself because school is boring." Emma lean back on her chair a bit with the front two legs off the floor.

"And you don't see a problem with not showing your full potential?" Rebecca asked.

"I surely don't." I placed my hands behind my head. "I was a huge slacker in my sophomore and junior year."

"See new boy gets it." Emma said.

"My name is Motosaki." I said.

"Whatever, besides most of the knowledge you learn in school is never applied in a real life situation." Emma said.

"Math." Rebecca said.

"Mainly addition and subtraction, rarely any multiplication and division." Emma said.

"English!" Rebecca said.

"Rebecca, you can barely speak English." Emma said.

[If I wrote this novel in Japanese none of you would know what the hell was being said...]

"Science!" Rebecca looked nervous.

"You're so lucky your face isn't punchable." Emma said.

"...History..?" Rebecca lowered her head.

"Really..? When in a real life situation are you gonna use History? You're getting mugged on the street so you're gonna hit them with hard facts about History? Yeah that'll surely make them wanna stop." Emma said.

"Actually, you need some form of English in the real world. English is quickly becoming a universal language taken that we get more and more foreigners in Japan now." Otsuki said.

"Yeah that is true." Aisha said.

"Agreed." Rebecca nodded.

"Hmph!" Emma crossed her arms. "Fine you win this one, but I don't see a need for the unnecessary subjects like science and history. When are you ever gonna talk about Quantum Physics or Quantum Mechanics ever?"

I rose an eyebrow and looked at Emma. Although she did make a good point, her bratty attitude just makes me wanna disagree with her on purpose. She looked at me.

"What? You know I'm right, it says so on your face!" Emma said.

"Nah, imma have to disagree on that one chief." I said.

"Wha--" Emma looked at me surprised.

"Oh don't mind him, he's just teasing." Aisha laughed.

The bell chimed and lunch time was over. We set the desks back in their normal positions and went back to our assigned seats and Emma went back to her class. Soon, everyone got back to class and the teacher put his glasses on and stood up, ready to teach his lessons again.

The last hours of school passed and the bell chimed then everyone packed up and I stood up and tossed my bag over my shoulder and waited by the door for Aisha. She looked at me and smiled. Rebecca stood up and bowed towards me and walked out the class then met up with Emma and they walked home together. I looked around for Otsuki, but she was already gone. Aisha skipped towards me and smiled. When it's just two, we spoke English.

"Ready to go?" Aisha asked.

"Yeah, let's roll." I smiled and walked out the class then Aisha followed and we walked down the halls together.

"So how was your first day?" Aisha asked and bumped her hip against mine, playfully.

"It was cool." I said and chuckled.

"Just cool, you barely could contain yourself from exploding with excitement. You're a quick friend maker also." Aisha smiled.

"I just have a chill personality. It isn't hard for me to make friends at all." I said.

"Yeah yeah." Aisha laughed.

We walked down the stairs to the main hall and left the school building. We went towards the train station and got on the train to go back home. The train stopped at our destination and we got off then continued back home.

"I'll make dinner tonight since you made lunch!" Aisha said.

"Sounds good." I smiled.

"We will have some good ol' Japanese food." Aisha smiled.

The day ended well with me meeting three other incredibly cute girls: Rebecca, Emma, and Otsuki. Each one all have a different personality that makes them unique from one another at the same time some similarities. Rebecca and Otsuki are incredibly smart, Emma and Aisha are both animated in their own right. I feel like I'll enjoy my time at the school more and more as I continue to go there everyday.
