Kisame created water that spirals around His body and made water wall to defend himself from the incoming attack, he used a huge amount of chakra too, as incoming attacker already broke the Sound barrier He didn't want to take a risk. even if he wouldn't die for real, Kisame didn't like to lose, besides his propose coming was to delay Kazekage rescue team, not just play with them.
