~Shinji Matou POV~
Okay, either this will end with me dying or getting a huge boost in power. Reaching forward, I snatched the white king chess piece off the table and held it in my hand.
This was an Evil Piece from "Highschool DxD" and one of the main focal points of the series. They were used by devils in the series to turn other races into devils as well.
I had spent a month studying it and of course I abused the hell out of my new shadow clone technique, so I was studying it with 12 other clones, so it was more of a year of studying the thing and doing various tests.
I also studied the Brave Saints, which were exactly the same as the Evil Pieces, but they allowed an angel to turn other races into angels.
Thanks to studying them both with twelve clones each, I had a good grasp on their inner workings.
And that was how I made my own race converter. And I went all out, incorporating various races' blood into the piece in question, so that the boost I would get would be a magnitude greater, even with the boost from using a king piece that boosted your natural abilities.
But there were risks involved. For starters, there was Gaia and Alaya, they hadn't done anything yet, but there was no telling how they would react with the hybrid I was about to spawn into the world. Secondly, there was the fact that all of my energies may get a bit chaotic and destroy me from the inside, and while I took some precautions, there was no telling what would happen.
"But that doesn't matter, even if this body is broken again and again, I'll keep getting stronger." Turning around, I strode out of the room I was in and headed into my bedroom, where Kunzite and Kuro were waiting for me.
"Do you really have to do this, Shinji?" Kuro asked with concern.
"Yeah, I have to do this. If I continue to be weak, then I won't stand a chance against my true enemy." I said, as I walked to the bed and with a couple of quick hand signs, I created a clone. He didn't say anything, only giving me a nod as I laid down on the bed, placing the piece on my chest as I did.
Immediately, my familiar aquabind chains wrapped around my ankles and wrists, tightly keeping me in place.
This is it. This is the moment of truth.
"Alright, see you on the other side, Kuro, Kunzite." With a smile, I used my regular sorcery trait chain, projecting it from my chest and wrapping it around the chess piece. After that, it was slowly pulled into my chest.
*Badump*
As soon as it was fully in my chest, a magic circle appeared above me, which slowly came down over my body.
*Badump*
The room was silent, the only sound I could hear was our breathing and my own heartbeat.
*Badump*
But all we could do was wai- *Gurgling Splutter*
Without warning, I coughed up a mouthful of warm and metallic blood that stained my blue shirt red. The pain was next, ripping through my body. It started off small, barely noticeable, but in a couple of seconds, it felt as if someone was taking a sledgehammer to every part of my body.
I really don't know what happened after that, but I faintly heard the voice of Kuro screaming out in worry, before everything went black.

~Kuro von Einzbern POV~
It happened so fast. One minute the house was still here and the next second I found myself standing over a crater, shocked and confused. And in the center of that crater was an orb as black as night.
"Shinji!" I was about to rush forward, ignoring the danger, when a familiar hand gripped my shoulder and pulled me away from the crater. "Shinji!" I cried out, as I looked up at Shinji's clone. He looked like he had been through hell, with his clothes torn and bloodied, and his body covered in wounds.
"Don't… be an… idiot… Kuro. He's… fine… he made… the… barrier… to not… rampage. But it… will… kill… you if… you… get to… close… so…. just….. wait." The clone said, while breathing heavily with each word, before dissipating.
"So I just have to sit here and wait, then fine." Sitting down, I stared at the sphere for who knows how long. Even with the clone's reassurance, I couldn't help but worry. It wasn't until I heard the beeping of a car horn that I finally snapped out of my trance.
Turning around, I saw Luvia's limo was parked and walking toward me were all the others.
"Kuro, what's happening!" Illya asked, running up to me in concern.
"Shinji is what happened, that idiot." I said, as I continued to look at the sphere.
"We're going to need more context! We literally felt the magical energy here surge all the way from across the city!" Rin yelled out, before pointing at the sphere in the crater. "And what is that?!"
"That's Shinji, Rin." I said, with a huff, before turning back.
"Then we have to save him." Illya said, as she began sliding down the crater.
"Wait!" I tried to warn her, but it was too late. Immediately, from the sphere, Shinji's signature chains shot out and tried to impale Illya, who was barely able to dodge. Clicking my tongue in annoyance, I dashed down and grabbed her by the scruff of her neck, before jumping away, dodging more of Shinji's chains.
But even as I landed outside the crater, I couldn't help but wonder why the chains were slower than even when Shinji was holding back against me.
"What was that?"
"A defense mechanism to keep us away and… contain Shinji, in case he goes out of control."
"Seriously, what were you two doing here!? And is it getting colder?"
"What are you talking about, Tohsaka? If anything, it's getting warmer." Luvia said, while fanning herself.
"But I feel pretty good." Illya said, with a relaxed expression.
"Me too, it is neither hot nor cold for me." Miyu said, as well.
And now that they brought it up, the area felt more relaxing. Well, more than it already did, anyway.
"It doesn't matter for now, we'll just wait and see what happens. If he goes out of control, as you said, Kuro, then as the only mages in the area, we'll deal with it." Rin said, seriously.
We then sat there for five hours, until the sphere finally began to crack, making a loud and ominous sound, before shattering completely. Suddenly, a jolt ran through my body, as more mana than ever before ran through our connection.
Looking down at the crater, I was able to see a figure that I knew was Shinji, but he looked way different than before. And thanks to my archer eyes, I could see everything in detail.
His hair was now longer and flowed gently in the breeze. And slowly, his eyes opened, revealing his eyes were now a piercing red.
He turned toward Kunzite, who floated up beside him, and he seemed to say something to him, before Shinji crouched down, and jumped and appeared right in front of us.
"What are you guys doing here?" He asked, his voice sending a tingle down my spine. And I could only ask one question.
Why is he so handsome now!?

~Shinji Matou POV~
You know, it was weird being a completely different race from before. I didn't want to give up my full humanity just yet, but I also didn't want Alaya to pull that shit it pulled in grand order and block me from the world, if I wasn't 'human enough', so I was fifty percent human. For the other fifty percent, it was divided into five ways, since I incorporated devil DNA, angel and fallen angel DNA, vampire DNA, nekoshou DNA, and dragon DNA.
But I can learn new capabilities later, for now I'll bring down this barrier. Thanks to the clone that I made, which had dispelled, I knew I made this barrier subconsciously, when I was being reincarnated earlier. Reaching out, I simply dismissed the barrier, allowing me to see my surroundings. I was in a crater that I had created.
"Master Shinji, are you alright?" Kunzite's voice rang out, as he floated before me.
"Yeah, while I feel strange since I'm so much stronger, as if I have a new body, but other than that, I feel about the same." With a smile, I turned toward where I knew Kuro should be, before jumping up to her, allowing me to see that Illya, Miyu, Rin, and Luvia were there as well.
"What are you guys doing here?" As soon as I spoke, I noticed that all of them were blushing up a storm, with their faces flushed and their eyes averted.
"Hey, what's up, you guys? Your faces are red." Yup, just ignore the implications, as usual.
"Um, I, uh, we, uh." It was kind of funny, seeing them all be a stuttering mess, but after a couple of minutes, they got themselves under control and spoke clearly.
"S-so, what were you doing here, Matou-san? We felt the magical energy on the other side of the city." Rin asked, while walking up to me, allowing me to notice that I had grown slightly taller.
"It was a magical experiment, nothing more than that." With a shrug, I glanced at the crater, where my home used to be.
"Hey, Illya, you don't mind if we stay at your house for a while, until my house is rebuilt." I said, while turning to Illya with a smile, causing her to jolt under my stare.
"Um… sure, Shinji-san." Illya said, with a smile, and I shrugged off the fact that Kuro had punched me, as soon as I suggested it, but I only felt a dull pain and judging by how she was now gripping her hand, I guess I don't have to get her back too much later. 'She's so cute when she's jealous.' I thought, as I winked at her.

~ 3rd Person POV~
What Shinji didn't realize as he walked away with a smile on his face was that his emotion dampening ring lay shattered in the crater left forgotten.

The drive from my home to Illya's wasn't really an eventful one as I was content to go over what I had just gained from this procedure.
Taking out my adventurers card from my new space I was able to see my gains form it.

So I got everything I was looking for. I thought with a smile. With all this fighting Darius had become that much easier to do.
For example the Power of Destruction could destroy his magecraft if he tried to block it as he usually does and I'm not even sure he could redirect it either given how strong it is despite only having one percent of the Gremory bloodline in me.
Then there was the Worthless ability from the Belial clan which could disable special abilities and it could take Darius out entirely.
And that was only two of the abilities he got, not to mention he was so much stronger now getting almost a double in my stats overall.
And finally there was my soul which had a core like structure in it now along with his magic circuits that was producing way more magical energy and if I had to guess it was my new magic core.
Anyway were almost to Illya's place. With a flick of my finger I placed the card back in my ring and after waiting a couple of minutes we arrived at Illya's home.
"Thank you Auguste for the great service." I said toward Auguste who was driving the limo we were in while stepping out of the limo myself.
"Thank you for the kind words Matou-san. And I must say you look much happier than when I last saw you." He said, causing me to blink in confusion.
"Do I?"
"Yes, you're no longer wearing that mask you wore a month ago." He said with a smile.
No idea how he knew my emotions were dampened or at least not being completely honest with myself but he is right ever since the procedure I felt 'free' if that's the right thing to say.
Anyway after Rin began walking to her home Miyu, Auguste, and Luvia headed into their mansion while Kuro, Illya, and myself headed into Illya's home.
"I'm home Sella and I brought some friends." Illya said while beginning to pull off her shoes.
"Who could you possibly have over this…" Sella said while walking out of the living room allowing her to see me which she blushed and then her eyes fell on Kuro and her jaw dropped.
Leysritt, probably seeing Sella's pog face, stuck her head out of the living room. "Hey Shinji-kun." She said with a wave and a light blush on her cheeks before her eyes fell on Kuro as well. "Ah Illya has a twin now."
"Sorry Sella, can we stay here for a while." I asked with a smile,
Sella released a sigh before looking at us with narrowed eyes. "Tell me what happened."
I then explained that my house had been destroyed in a magical experiment and now I had no place to stay as well as my charge Kuro.
"Fine, you can stay until your house is rebuilt Shinji-san, Kuro-san." Sella said before walking into the kitchen where she was preparing dinner.
"Well if you excuse me I have to use the bathroom." I said while getting up off the couch and heading for the bathroom. But once I knew that no one would see me I slipped out the front door.
There I walked up to the woman who was leaning outside the home. She was a woman with light gray hair and she slowly opened her eyes revealing their golden color. She wore a black dress and stockings over pantyhose, but without the skirt making it look like she was wearing a leotard.
"Hello Caren-san, it's a pleasure to finally meet the Church's representative."
