Chapter 4: The Lunch

Catherine Smith's POV

"Now that you know my major, I don't even know your name. This is a rather very interesting conversation that we have," I said as I was staring at the stranger. He laughed before he held out his hands.

"My apologies. It was just that you're so captivating that I forgot all my manners," he said before a lazy smile was on his lips. He looked damn delicious right now.

"Well, that was a new word for people to describe me," I mumbled but this stranger can hear it all too well.

"What would they usually associate with you then?" He asked as I turned to look at him. I bit my lower lips before I sighed.

"Maybe you shouldn't know about it," I said.

"But I insist to hear it,"

I eyed him up and down. Maybe he was one of the people that tried to get women to be in their charms and then they will send them away much like a brothel. I don't think I trust this guy that much.

"Before we continue this, I would like to acquire your name," I said sternly but he just arched his eyebrow.

"You interested in my name, do you?"

"One could say that I am interested to know that whether you can be trusted or not," I said as I was eyeing him. He held out his hands in surrender before he cleared his throat and stared at me with his mesmerizing gaze.

"My name is Wyatt Jones. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, miss…"

"Smith. Catherine Smith," I said as I was holding out my hand to shake with his. He took it and instantly, sparks fly. I don't know if it was my touch that was making me all sweaty and dirty but I think this man has some reaction on me.

I don't like that.

I released my hold on his hand but he was still lingering in mine before he took it off from my hand. I think I missed his big, rough, calloused hand already and that was just a handshake. I wondered what happened when he touched me…

"So, what are you doing here, Mr. Jones? Taking some vacation off from home?" I asked as I was trying to focus my mind on something else as I was playing with my hands. He smirked at me before the food arrived at our tables.

"Enjoy," the waitress said as she was eyeing Wyatt. I felt something in my chest as she was smiling at him before Wyatt turned to look at her and smiled.

Something cracked inside me.

"So, do you have anyone special in your life?" I asked bluntly before I can comprehend what I just asked him. After I registered what I just asked him, my eyes were wide.

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to—" I said as I saw that waitress just now was whispering with her co-worker. Not that I wanted to impose but I don't want to be the talk of the island. It was a small island after all. Mr. Jones chuckled before I was looking at him.

"No, Catherine I don't but I might have one after this," he said before he sipped on his drink that arrived with the food while he looked at me over the rim of the glass. I drank my own before I settled my eyes on the water. It was nice and all but I think the company that I have right now was much more enjoyable than my food.

"Shall we?" He asked as we started to dig in and the conversation was left just like that. Little did I know, I still referred him Wyatt instead of Mr. Jones, even though it was only in my mind.

Wyatt Jones' POV

I don't think my savior would be a fire underneath all that. Well, of course, she did not know that she was my savior. My Catherine. I think I rather like that notion right now. I was staring at her as she put some food into her delicate mouth as I wanted to kiss it.

Fuck, I wanted to.

I sipped on my wine as I ordered my food before I spied Catherine and took the seat at her table. She was not being rude but she was not friendly either. Maybe she was still afraid of me.

'Ours. You should claim her now…' my cat purred as I was trying to control it. It was in broad daylight and I don't think rutting with Catherine here in this restaurant will be appreciated by her as well.

"So, do you work? Or do you one of those people that don't have to work one day in their lives?" Catherine asked me as I was snapped back to reality. I don't know what to say but smiled at her as I was playing with the edge of my glass.

"No, Catherine. I did work but right now, I was being relieved of my duty for now," I said as I was looking at her. Only she knew that I have to find a bride, maybe she would be running for hills. And I don't want her to be running away, from me that is.

"I see. So you have some trouble at work that you need some vacation here, on the island?" She asked as I chuckled at her. She was inquisitive, I gave her that.

"No, Catherine. I don't have trouble only that I just have to…" I said as I saw someone outside the restaurant. I don't think that she will be here. Damn it!

"Have to what?" Catherine asked as I just trailed off from her question. I smiled before I pushed some bills on the table as I stood up. She was staring at me before I offered her my hand.

"Would you care to walk with me?"

"Oh, I can't. You see, I have to get to the daycare," she said as she was blushing in her pale face. Now, I love to see her face when she blushed.

"Come on. It will be good for you to let the food settle before you went back to work, right?" I play logic with her before she bit her lower lips. Damn her. Now my cock stirred at that sight. Then she sighed.

"Well, only for 15 minutes. Then I'm off to the daycare," she said as she pulled some notes before I stopped her.

"I already covered our lunches," I said.

"But—"

"No but. I would love to treat you and it will be my honor if you accept it," I said as I was looking at her before she was considering my treat. I can see her motor was moving inside her head. Then she shook her pretty little head.

"I just know you and now you're treating me," she mumbled before I flashed her my charming smile.

"What can I say? You're a woman that should be treated every day, I said as I tucked her hand into mine before I moved toward the door. I can sense that her eyes were on me as I was pulling Catherine under my hands.

"Wyatt!" She called before I stopped and I sighed. I don't want to be in this situation but right now I don't think I have another choice. I turned to look at her as Catherine was standing beside me and was facing that wench as well.

"Long time no see. And I see that you have found your mark," she said in Greek before I growled as I sensed Catherine was stiffened.

"Even if she is my intended, I don't think that you wanted to know," I spoke in Latin as I know Catherine understood us. She smirked as she turned to look at Catherine.

"I don't think we ever met. I'm Joanna, Wyatt's sister," my sister to Catherine.
