13. What are you developing?

Shadow, who had just come back from her mission, chose to go and have a look at the state of the organization after not coming there for a few years. She is currently standing in front of a security company. But in reality, it's just a cover for what it really is. In the company, many assassins work there.

When Shadow stepped her foot inside, a few people looked at her, staring in hatred. It's normal for them to hate her; she doesn't care about what other people think. Those gazes of detestation are because she is the only one allowed to get out of the organization.

"You realize that you put us in danger?" A senior asked, making Shadow stop.

"What do you mean?" She asked. She doesn't think that she put them in danger.

"You killed that man. It made people try to find out about you, so obviously our lives are in danger." The man said, making Shadow understand where this is going.

Shadow only walked away calmly. "But I've never gotten caught." She said this, making everyone there feel offended.

That's true. So far, Shadow has never gotten caught when doing her mission, even though she has done loads of them. Some of her senior clients have gone to her.

You..."

Shadow said and walked away. "I don't want to cause any problems. I just came to visit." But she was stopped by a short-haired woman.

She doesn't want to stir up trouble right now, but because of the mission she did, she's cornered.

"Do you want to fight me?" Shadow asked, challenging the woman. Her gaze is cold. "Sadly, I'm not in the mood," Shadow said, and disappeared from there.

Everyone who heard that felt angry and wanted to find someone who could fight Shadow and beat her.

The woman knows that many want to beat Shadow and even kill her. But no one has ever succeeded.

In a dark room, Shadow sat while shaking her wine glass. On the table beside her are some fruits for her to eat while enjoying the wine. She shook her glass slowly because wine tastes great when you drink it sip by sip, shaking it so it won't be intoxicating.

The door opened, showing a man wearing a suit standing in front of the door.

Have you had enough fun? I asked the tall and buff man.

Did I put the organization into

"Don't worry, I've taken care of that," Charles said while sitting. He pours some wine into his glass.

"Cleo... Are you satisfied right now? " Charles asked.

Charles calls Shadow by the name Cleo, the name given to the girl who has grown into a beautiful, strong, and dangerous woman.

"Yup, I'm quite a satisfied dad!" Shadow said, calling the man "dad."

How special it is for her to be adopted by this man.

"Some of them complained to me because you took many of their clients."

"They complained to you but came to me and wanted to kill me," Shadow said honestly. She said what she feels: hunted by so many people because they want her dead.

"I didn't forcefully take their clients; they are the ones who came to me and gave me missions."

Cleo explained while taking an apple from the table.

Charles knows this. He wants his adoptive daughter to stop doing these things badly, but Cleo won't listen to him. As a dad, he doesn't want his daughter to be in danger. Even though he isn't the real father of Cleo, who he still takes as a little girl, he still loves Cleo very much.

The smell of fresh blood mixed with the smell of the perfume Charles uses. Cleo knew that the man had just executed someone. She might be the lucky one, able to come and go as she wants even though she isn't a member of the organization.

"Let's go check your state," Charles said to his adoptive daughter.

"Nothing happened to me. I'm totally fine."

She doesn't want to get a check-up from the scientists at the organization's lab, but she can't refuse Charles.

Using the elevator, Charles and Cleo went to the lab. Advanced equipment can be seen when the elevator door opens. Scientists doing research can be seen almost everywhere.

Even though they are a mafia organization, they still place importance on technology development. Many of the things they make are used by the members to help with their tasks.

A few children are used as test subjects. That is common for Shadow-Cleo. She doesn't want to interfere with her dad's things at all.

Far below, about 3 floors apart, a secret lab can be seen, full of advanced technology. A few doctors and scientists bowed to welcome Charles and Cleo. The place was made especially for Cleo, and everything there is of the highest quality.

Cleo's eyes got checked a few times. Even though she is still young, she isn't only good at killing. Her other skill is science, and she is also the one who created the eye she is using.

The Al-Eye system she created is a multi-function high-tech that is used by some other assassins, but, of course, they need to pay a lot to get it.

"What are you developing?" I asked when I saw that some were doing a test on a device. She became curious about what they were doing.

They bowed when seeing Cleo. Different from the members before, the scientists respected Cleo more because she has made many contributions to technology that no one else has made.

"A mind-reading system! The thing is, it can't work for a long time. It can only be used for 5 to 7 minutes.

Cleo, who is curious to observe the tool, also tries to find out whether there is anything to fix.

"Go and see Al-Eye's structure reference. There are a few bases there." After that, try to change the basis of this tool. Add some electromagnetic waves and a scanner to help it run longer. " Cleo said.

If you have any questions, you can ask me. I'll be here for a few days before doing my next mission. " Cleo said while walking away, leaving them to do more analysis.

Shadow went into her room. Inside were a few scientists who took part in making her Al-Eye system.

Her eyes stared at something in a tube with a happy feeling.

"Nothing to worry about." A woman said after checking Cleo's body.

The researchers there have mostly been trained since a young age. Even when they die, they will still be attached to the organization. If they dare to betray the organization, they will be killed. But there is an age limit. When someone turns 50 years old, the person will be freed but still under surveillance. That is the freedom the organization gives them.
