Synopsis

A rookie scheduler ends up in a different world of swords and magic. "Hero! A demon has made off with one of our village maidens!" "Hero! There is a goblin nest! I beg of you your aid!" "Hero! This novel has a strong start with a solid premise and no info dump stat systems or status screens. That being said, the novelty of its plot plateaus after a certain point due to overexploited, pointless and bland plot devices such as; misunderstanding common human interactions, genderbending, and ignorance. The above-stated plot devices are often thrown around with little to no thought put into their execution. This gives the novel a sort of "flavor of the month" type feel to its dialog and pacing. Often times you'll find characters that are supposedly in their 20's making the same mistakes a small child of 8 or 9 would make. Characters with both low IQ and low EQ are not entertaining to read about, hence my assumption that this novel marketed towards a more younger audience range. If the above plot devices are intended then the writing quality is amazing and it has gone above and beyond its status as an original novel, if they are not intended then I would recommend resolving some the issues associated with their use. I enjoyed the design of the main character, she's fresh and clean and she feels a lot like Velma from scooby doo. That being said, the other characters are rather stale and 2-D in comparison. This isn't helped by how often plot devices are used to make them look like idiots. As far as world-building, I think some work could go into it to make it really pop, but considering the overall childish feel of this novel, perhaps that might be too much. In short, this is a great kids novel!
