“Thanks a lot for coming with me, James,” I tell the pack healer as he walks back to his office with me, which is on the way toward where I am going for training.
“Of course,” he says. “I think he knows that I know about… the situation now, though.”
I shrug. “Yeah, he should’ve been able to gather that before, though. You walked in on us making out, so it’s not like you’re some sort of an idiot who wouldn’t be able to put all of that together.”
“That’s true,” James says. “I’m a totally different sort of an idiot.”
I look at him and he starts laughing, and I slug him in the arm. “No, you’re not.” I know he has a self-deprecating sense of humor, and it is kind of funny, but I don’t want to encourage him. “Anyway, I’m glad he knows about what I saw now, and he knows about my mission. Hopefully, I will be able to figure out what it might be that Dark Eclipse is looking for.”
