On One Hand

From Katsu's PoV he's over the shoulder of the soldier that saved him. He's having his usual nightmare of watching the giant Iceman grab his fatally wounded parents. 

Katsu shouts for the Iceman to stop...and it does... it looks at the child who commanded it to stop and shakes it's head and still puts his parents above its open mouth. 

Still from Katsu's PoV he calmly wakes up in a bed looking at a ceiling. He sits up slowly and he's in a dark room. The window his PoV looks at shows it is early morning with natural light from the sun peaking over the horizon. His PoV looks to his left slightly and sees Shelly asleep in a chair next to the bed with her head on the same bed as him.

Katsu(PoV looks at right hand): "I'll save her this time."

Saku(softly): "I told you not to get seriously injured or she was going to be unbearable."

Katsu's PoV looks to the corner of the room and Saku is sitting in a chair, a half healed black-eye on his human eye, legs crossed and outstretched, his arms folded with Friend asleep under his legs. 

All of a sudden Saku's IceEye 'locks' with someones. Katsu's PoV can't turn his head and is struggling.

Katsu: "Saku, wha-what happened to my neck?"

Saku(chuckles): "You didn't do anything to your neck moron."

He unlocks his eye with whoever he was locked with and Katsu is able to freely move his head again. 

Shelly slowly wakes up, a soft confused moan comes out as she rubs her eyes and the sunlight starts coming through the only window in the room. Katsu sees pure elegance from the light shining on a freshly woken Shelly. True beauty in natural sunlight.

But the feeling isn't mutual, Shelly puts her hands over her mouth, tears fill her eyes. Revealing as the light shines over her adopted brothers face, Katsu's green right eye and his new IceEye in his left eye{stage right}.

Katsu: "Mornin' sleepybutt, whens breakfast?"

She doesn't answer him and Saku gets up, Friend wakes up too. He's a lot more relaxed than their female squadmate shaking his head.

Saku: "You wake up in a different place than the one you passed out in and that's what comes out your mouth first? How about you take a look at yourself real quick?"

The delinquent tosses a hand mirror on the bed and watches as Katsu holds up the mirror and he gets a shocked look and then yells in fear.

Katsu: "AHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

He drops the mirror showing Itsuka's bubbly mirror version is silently gigging and rolling around laughing in the mirror from pranking the boy. On queue Itsuka comes in with her 2nd stage eye active. 

Katsu stops being scared and is amazed from the new function of his eye. He can see the yellowish pink aura coming off Itsuka's eye. Just how Itsuka, Saku and Daisuki were able to see eye aura, now Katsu can too.

Katsu: "Wooaahh..."

Itsuka: "Well looks like you're all up, I'll go let Daisuki know. How ya feeling Katsu?"

Katsu: "I don't know. On one hand, I'm happy I have an eye now but on the other(looks at Shelly) I'm a little worried. Why did it attach to me? I didn't kill it, I just felt bad for the creature in the jar. Was it that desperate to live?"

Itsuka: "I meant physically but knowing the healing properties the parasite eyes have, I'm the idiot."

Saku shakes his head smiling, hands in his pockets and leaves with Itsuka.

Saku: "Well I'm getting breakfast, D said we'll get some at sunrise. Come on Friend!"

Friend: "RuFFRuff"

As Saku closes the door and they walk away, Itsuka is looking in her compact make-up mirror deactivating her 2nd stage, the yellow/pink aura slowly fading as they walk.

Itsuka: "Jealous you aren't the only lefty anymore?"

Saku(shakes head): "Nah, if anything it makes me feel a little better after she called me out for it yesterday. But like the dumbass said, 'He didn't kill it', so was that parasite actually desperate and chose the closest eye? And when he woke up, he said something."

The door closes with just the adopted brother and sister left in the room, Katsu jumps out of bed. 

He remembers how badly his ankle hurt yesterday but now, because the 'base-kit' healing ability, he is fine and runs to the window. A beautiful blue ocean can be seen in the distance from the 2 story building they're in.

Katsu: "Where are we?"

Shelly(still clearly upset): "Somewhere near Daisuki's secret community those 3 'Sisters' are accusing him of creating and keeping people from, he calls it 'Sanpaku'."

Katsu: "So those men were right about Big Bro not bringing the survivors he found back to the mountains."

Shelly: "Yea, but that doesn't give them a reason to put bounties on our lives Katsu! If anything it proves Sensei was right not to bring them there!"

Katsu: "I know that! Shelly, why are you acting so weird? Is it because this eye?"

Katsu puts his head down and a hand over the new left eye.

Katsu: "I'll admit I didn't expect myself to get an eye the way it I did, but..."

Shelly feels the switch flip but for the first time since her mother's death, Shelly is silent in fear when Katsu raises his head. His IceEye, that he had just acquired not 24 hours ago is already at 2nd Stage. 

As if he was oblivious to it, Katsu's switched self continues.

Katsu: "...When you took that risk to catch this exact eye, yesterday before you did it, you pleaded with ME to not look at YOU differently if you ended up with this very same eye, alien, or whatever it is.And I wouldn't have! I would've low-key been happy to have someone like you, protecting me. Someone who is so overpowered with both pure human skill AND alien supported powers. So why are you being a hypocrite right now?"

Shelly(stunned): "Ka- Kats-"

Still unaware that his eye stage has changed, her fear of Katsu hurts him deep down and he holds his chest while keeping eye contact with her. Shelly can only see the physical eye's stage but can't see that Katsu's eye aura is pitch black but a faint streak of "shining silver" within. She can see his tears though.

Katsu: "Now that I think about it, I technically got this eye from you and overall, the pros outweigh the cons. I still have one of my fathers green eyes and now when I see this eye, I'll remember it's technically a gift from you....So Shelly, please. Stop. Stop looking at me like that. It hurts."

Shelly snaps out of it from seeing Katsu's tears, because of her.

Shelly: "Katsu. I'm sorry it's just...your eye it's-"

Saku(from outside the closed door): "Let me go you gahdaamn convict! I'm hungry!"

Katsu's switch flips off along with his second stage. The silver isn't visible but the dark mist doesn't fade completely as Daisuki opens the door with Saku at the collar and Friend biting Saku's pant leg in a losing battle of "tug-of-war".

Itsuka enters not interested until they all look at Katsu with a finishing faded eye aura indicating he's popped off his 2nd stage already. 

Katsu accidentally EyeEngages with Daisuki, but instead of Katsu getting caught off guard unable to break, it's Daisuki.

Daisuki: "Ka-Katsu. How are you...this strong...already?"

Katsu is unaware of his control over his mentors gaze but realizes it when he can't turn his own head. Katsu unlocks their EyeEngage and Saku looks pissed.

Saku: "Hold on. What strength are you talking about?"

Saku EyeEngages with Katsu and the one struggling to break free is Katsu.

Saku: "I thought so. There's no way you're stronger than me. How come, I can overpower Katsu with our left IceEyes. D can overpower me and my left eye, but not Katsu with his?"

Katsu(jokingly while EyeEngaged): "Hehe. Saku, you just said 'D can overpow-'."

Saku: "SHUT THE HELL UP!"

While they argue like children, Daisuki is thinking with his eyes closed. Then his serious thinking demeanor flips to his "Big Bro" mode.

Daisuki: "I don't know but how 'bout I open a portal to get my wives to bring us breakfast while we talk about yesterday and bounce ideas off each other about our current situation?"

Everyone nods as it takes a second for them to register what the man just said.

Everyone: "WIVES!?!?"

Friend: "Aroo?"
