Chapter 66: First Mission
[Kaede POV]
Onii-chan has officially recruited me into his agency for work-study. I was happy that he accepted me, and I can't wait for my first job. However, that time arrived faster than I imagined and onii-chan notified me to visit his office the following day.
"Night-eye's agency?" I voiced out with confusion.
Itachi-onii-chan nodded: "Yes, you and Shisui will go help at Night Eye's agency. He will brief you on the way there."
I was surprised by this mission, one of my wishes during the pro-hero study was to save Eri because no one deserves the treatment she has to go through. I have been planning to rescue her, and being assigned to go to NightEye's agency makes this much more manageable.
Right on queue, Shisui entered the room with a smile: "Seems like we will be working with each other on this one!"
I smiled back. My heart was pounding with the excitement of actually being a hero. Even if I have done a hero internship in the past, it still wasn't the same. But, there was still a question that's still bugging me.
"By the way, onii-chan, aren't you coming?" I asked.
Shisui was also intrigued and glanced at Itachi onii-chan with expectations. Onii-chan shook his head apologetically: "I wish, but unfortunately, as of right now, I won't be able to."
"With All Might retired, I need to protect Mustutafu. Also... "Itachi-onii-chan's tone became serious: "It was reported that there have been sightings of Gigantomachia at the city's border...."
Shisui's expression darkened: "Are you sure?"
I also frowned at his response, Gigantomachia... AFO's former bodyguard. To even be the bodyguard of AFO, he must be powerful...
"I only just heard of this recently as well. However, it's best not to risk it."
Shisui nodded, and we talked a bit more before leaving Itachi-onii-chan's office. We took a train to our destination, and Shisui explained what we would be doing on our way there. Nighteye currently has been tracking an evil organization called Shie Hassaikai. Recently the leader, Kai Chisaki, has been making some suspicious moves, and they need to figure out what's happening. So basically, Shisui and I were just extra manpower.
After one hour of the train ride, we finally arrived at the agency. It was a five-story tall building without anything outstanding about it.
"Let's go." Shisui urged.
I nodded, and together we entered the building.
[3rd POV]
Mirio, Izuku, Centipeder and Bubble Girl, and Nighteye were discussing their mission in Nighteye's office. He informed the two young students that they would be patrolling the city to seek any sort of Chisaki's criminal activities to put him away for good.
"Don't we need more heroes for this job?" Izuku said with concern.
"That's why I got some outside help," Nighteye explained.
The door opened as Kaede and Shisui walked in: "Hi guys!" Kaede yelled happily.
Mirio and Izuku were surprised by her but smiled nevertheless. They were happy to know that they could quickly put their trust in their new comrade. Nighteye frowned.
Seeing Kaede's behavior, he glanced at Shisui and asked: "Are you sure she's qualified? I don't want her childish attitude to sabotage our task..."
"Don't worry, she's more than ready!" Shisui confidently replied and patted Kaede's head.
Nighteye said, "Very well, you will go with Togata and Midoriya." He said while pointing at Kaede.
"Roger!" She said with excitement and saluted him.
Izuku and Mirio chuckled, and they gestured for her to follow. Nighteye, however, still doubts her ability; he grabbed an eraser sitting on his desk. To test her, he threw the eraser at Kaede, aiming for the back of her head.
Out of his expectation, the eraser phased through her body. Kaede then caught it and tossed it back to Nighteye.
"Told you," Shisui remarked.
Nighteye scoffed as he watched the trios leave the room.
[???? POV]
'Go faster!' I screamed to myself and forced my legs to work harder.
I ran down the dark musty alley and gasped for breath. I could hear footsteps getting closer and closer. I pushed my body to my utmost limit. I'm scared of what he will do if he catches up!
I went right and finally saw the light at the end. I felt hope. Maybe this time I can escape! My speed became faster. There were shadowy outlines of three people in front of me. I tackled the nearest person, hoping that he or she would protect me.
[Kaede POV]
Midoriya, Togata, and I were patrolling, hoping to find even a slight trace of Shie Hassaikai. Suddenly I heard the sound of running beside me; I turned to look where the noise was coming from, and my eyes widened with shock.
I immediately reacted and caught the little girl leaping into my arms. The girl has white hair, red eyes, and a small horn on her right forehead. Her body was covered with bandages, and she wore a dirty sleeveless dress.
'Eri!' I exclaimed as she hugged me tightly.
"Please... help me, please...." She begged with tears in her eyes.
"Ah, Eri, please don't cause trouble for other people." A voice said further in the dark alley.
Eri started shaking in fear, my expression darkened, and I quickly put on my mask. Chisaki walked out of the shadows, and he stared at me calmly. He told me that Eri was his child and she likes to run away; Chisaki then thanked me for catching her.
Even a blind man can tell he's lying, I continued to question Chisaki, and he became increasingly annoyed. I asked about Eri's behavior, the bandages covering her body, and what he would do to her.
Chisaki replied that it was an embarrassing topic and would tell us inside the alleyway. My eyebrows furrowed. Thankfully, my mask hid my distrust toward him. However, to avoid Chisaki suspecting anything, I smiled and followed after him.
Midoriya and Togata looked worried, but I told them it was fine. I could tell Eri was terrified; we went further in and away from the public's sight. My Sharingan was tracking every movement of Chisaki.
He turned around and smiled at me as he slowly took off his gloves. Eri saw this and was struggling to break free. Nonetheless, I held her tightly and gently whispered into her ears: "It will be okay."
She slowly nodded. As I expected, Chisaki touched the alley wall, and I instantly jumped backward. A colossal spike appeared where I was previously standing. Four shadow clones, waiting at the rooftops, landed around Chisaki.
He grabbed one of my clones, wishing to disassemble it. However, nothing happened and Chisaki's eyes widened in shock.
"How...." Chisaki muttered.
The answer was quite simple, shadow clones were made of pure chakra, and it's not something Chisaki can destroy, even if he can, I highly doubt that he has manipulated chakra even once in his life.
[A/N: I think I'm correct?]
Two of my clones grabbed both his arms, stopping him from using his quirk. The other two shadow clones finished him off with Rassengan and lightning jutsu. Chisaki was quickly knocked out and my clones safely secured him and dragged him out of the alley.
Togata and Midoriya were surprised to see me easily defeat him. They congratulated me and immediately contacted Nighteye to explain what happened. I'm glad the fight ended quickly, however, it's I felt that it was not over yet...
