Shane's Ride

Two brothers, one popular with the girls and one not. One gay, and one straight. Of course, it was Wade, the older gay brother, who was chased by girls and poor straight Shane who was unlucky and alone.<br><br>Forced by their father to be dude ranch tour guides, Wade and Shane endure an unending stream of male and female tourists with no action. That is, until the latest group arrives and the barn promptly burns down, creating a mixed bag of instant heroes -- straight, gay, lesbian, transgender.<br><br>After the horses are saved and the fire burns itself out, everyone -- gay and straight -- pair off for the night, leaving a very frustrated and drunk Shane alone in his car. Chapter 2

It was a gorgeous July day, but very hot. One of the girls, Anna, was from the city, and used to running from her airconditioned car to her airconditioned home. Ninety degrees must have had her melting into her saddle. He was alert too, when she started complaining about the heat. Pulling Rusty up short once they had all reached some shade, he suggested that maybe Shane could take her back to the ranch. “Shane can take care of the horses and you can take a dip in the pool,” he suggested, winking at Shane who only side-eyed him. He’d be in the barn half an hour or more. Fuck you, he sent telepathically.

The other girl chose to stay with him. “Are you sure, Meg?” he asked. “It only gets rougher up here, we might run into a bear, and (I’m not getting off the horse/taking off my clothes/or going to kiss you) it’ll only get hotter.” Besides, if she chose to stay, he wouldn’t risk stripping off for a dunk in the pool below the waterfall, and damnit it, he was roasting too.
