"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer's lease hath all too short a da..."

*SLAM*

The boy startled at the sudden opening of the rooftop door, stopped talking. A girl pale as she was, had a glowing expression contrast to her frail apperance.

"Eh? Someone's here"

The girl upon seeing someone alone in the heat of the rooftop, looked upon the boy with glittering eyes full of curiousity.

"I heard someone awhile ago, was that you? That was you right? If I'm right that was Shakespeare's wasn't it? Right?"

Bombarded with a load of non-stopping questions, the boy furrowed his brows as if it was troublesome. Even so the girl didn't stop talking.

"Sonnet 18, you know that's my favorite of Shakespeare's works, It feels very bright and motivating doesn't it?"

The boy without muttering a word, just listened at the girl's continuous words. Without even knowing, the boy was mesmerized by the girl's expression. He wondered how could someone have such a bright expression.

"Hmm? Why aren't you speaking?"

The girl realizing the boy was in a daze and wasn't giving any response, worried.

"Are you okay? well I guess it's a bit hot here, so maybe it kinda hit you..."

Seeing that the girl was worried about him. The boy finally responded to her.

"I..m...O...y...

"Huh?"

But the problem was.

"Umm, Can you say it again abit louder?"

"Im...O..k..y"

The boy has a low voice.

"So you are quite shy? I wonder? Even though I didn't hear much, I was sure I heard a powerful voice back then"

"Was it only because you were alone? That's ashame...Hmm I'll fix it for you!"

The boy startled at the sudden promise she made, was entranced at her smiling face as she reached out her hand to him.

"Oh right, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Summer, Nice to meet you~!"

The boy was sitting at the corner of the room. He had always been like this, however ever since the boy met the girl. His gloomy corner seem to have brighten.

"There's a new cafe that opened near the school it's apparently quite popular among the students, maybe we should go too this weekend"

The boy just continuously listening to her words, not speaking nor giving any some sort of response. However the boy doesn't mind nor is annoyed by the rapid words.

The girl met a boy. She found him very lonely. She feels sad when she saw him alone. She wanted to approach him, however she didn't know how. She was talkative, she's aware of that, she had been made fun of because of that ever since she was a kid. However she didn't change that. She feels that expressing what you feel is very nice, and there's nothing wrong with it. She feels it's very comforting to let out what you feel through words.

However, not everything goes well. With her words many were also hurt. She was very talkative, so she knows how words can hurt.

She knows but despite that she never changed, because it's the only thing she has left; her words.

When the girl met the lonely boy, she saw herself in him. When she heard his strong voice, she saw herself in him. When she heard his weak voice, she saw herself in him. She wanted to help him, but she was afraid that her words might hurt him. Her words that split her family, her words that hurt her friends, she was afraid that she would hurt the boy whom she saw herself in.

But then.

"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?"

Her mind cleared of any shadow.

"Thou art more lovely and more temperate."

An old memory sprouted from her mind. Even before she was aware of the pain of life. The warm voice of her Grandma who caress her hair and comfort her when she was lonely.

"Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,"

Her heart filled with nostalgia of the past, filled with sadness and joy as she opened the door in a hurry.

"And summer's lease hath all too short a da..."

"Ah..."

Realizing what she had done. The girl hid her lonely face and smiled.

"Eh? Someone's here"

She was surprised that she suddenly rushed out. She was startled, because of the memories that appeared. Her heart was in a fluster, because of that strong, and warm voice that he uttered combined with the reminiscing words. She didn't know what to do.

"I heard someone awhile ago, was that you? That was you right? If I'm right that was Shakespeare wasn't it? Right?"

She started talking and talking, without any sense, with no essence. But only to calm her distressed heart. She looked at the boy as she talked, she put up a facade to continue smiling brightly. He was calm. He look troubled at her sudden appearance. Her heart became faster thinking she irritated him.

"Shakespeare's Sonnet 18, you know that's my favorite of Shakespeare's works, It feels very bright and motivating doesn't it?"

She couldn't take a break. But her heart calmed down a bit when she saw the boy stop frowning. She looked at the boy as she continued her words with a smile on her face; happy that the boy no longered seem irritated and is listening to her words with focus. As time goes on, the boy only continued to listen to her chatter. As time went on she finally calmed down. She stopped talking and look at the boy.

"Hmm? Why aren't you speaking?"

The girl finally gained courage to ask. However the boy seems to be in a daze. So she asked in worry if the boy was fine. And with that the boy awoke from his senses. The boy opened his mouth.

"I..m...O...y..."

The voice was weak. The girl looked at the boy in loneliness, but the feeling dispersed as soon as it appeared. She didn't want him too look at that expression. She wanted him to see the brightness in life. So she smiled.

"Umm, Can you speak it abit louder?"

"Im...O..k..y"

The girl smiled wryly. She thought it would be long way to go. However she won't give up. She won't back down til the boy has gained his voice to express himself to others. Maybe she was just a nuisance to him, but that voice that she heard. That strong voice; it was calling out to be heard.

"Was it only because you were alone? That's ashame...Hmm I'll fix it for you!"

The girl determined herself and reached out to the boy.

"Oh right, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Summer, Nice to meet you~"

"How about you?"

Many days have passed since that day.

and the days that came after appeared all the same. But was never the same as before. Like a rain in summer, the two worlds that shouldn't be together appeared before his eyes.

The boy wanted this moment to last. His world was lonely like rain. her world was bright as the sun. But it was too bright for him. He was afraid that this moment would disappear.

He wasn't very interesting, he was afraid to speak to others. However the girl still stayed by his side. He was afraid that the girl would disappear so he always listened to the girl's words. To him, listening was very important. When you listen, you can understand what people likes and doesn't like. When you listen, you can avoid hurting others. When you listen, everyone can be happy. That's what his Mother always said.

He listened everytime to the girl. That's why he knows. He knows that the girl was sad. He knows that he was a part of it. He listened and understood why. He has a weak voice. The girl felt pity to him. He knows that the girl pities because she sees herself in him. He knows that behind that bright light, lies a frail voice. He didn't pity the girl because of that, instead he admired the girl. He wanted to be like her. But he didn't know how. Words could hurt, that's why he only listened. He only listened that's why everyone became happy. He only listened that's why....

.

.

.

"Summer..."

The girl looked in suprise, the voice wasn't loud but it was clear. It was warm.

"You spoke...You finally spoke"

She laughed. She smiled brightly. She look at the boy, she was glad. She was glad he was able to speak clearly with her. She was also glad that it was her name.

"Ah...Umm..."

The boy was struggling again.

"It's fine, don't force yourself. We can do it step by step. Hehehe~ I'm so glaaaad~"

.

.

.

The boy called out her name. The girl was very happy. But he was frustrated that he couldn't continue. The girl comforted him. He was glad that the girl was happy, he was glad the she was happy because of him. Because of this, he wanted to speak more. For himself and her.

"I-I... want to s-speak more..."

"How about we join a club?"

"club?..."

"The literary club, I remember you were very good at declaring poems. So why don't we start with that?"

The boy nodded. And they decided to go.

The girl was happy. The boy was finally gaining his voice. She was very happy for him. they decided to join a club. She though it was the next step for the boy to find his voice. She thought of this since that day at the rooftop.

They have been visiting the club for a week now. There were only 5 people excluding them. They usually take turns to read a phrase or a book. At the first day it was a bit hard. But the boy was able to gain courage.

"But love, first learned in a lady's eyes,"

His voice was weak. But it was clear. It was contained with emotions. with those words he gained the attention of others.

"Lives not alone immured in the brain,"

"But, with the motion of all elements,"

With a voice that started weak, continued in a soothing rhythm. There was only 6 audience but everyone payed attention.

"Courses as swift as thought in every power,"

"And gives to every power a double power,"

The voice was steady. Everyone was mesmerized.

"Above their functions and their offices."

Everyone sucked in a breath. They were lost for words. Because it was "that boy" the boy without a voice. His voice was weak yet delivered multitude of emotions.

Everyone applauded. And the boy awakened from his stupor.

"Ah...Thank you"

He bowed to the applause. Then look at the girl. The person whom is the source of his emotion. Emotion of admiration that became love. The girl was had tears in her eyes. But she had a bright smile full of splendor that put the light of the sun in shame. And she spoke.

"You did it, Rain..."

the boy was enchanted. He smiled back.

.

.

.

The days continued. And dark clouds were gathering.

The boy was alone, however it wasn't lonely.

He had a charming smile. A bright smile to contrast the dark clouds outside the window.

He was waiting, waiting for the girl. He looked at the window. In thought of everything that happened this month. The girl she met at the rooftop, the girl who promised to help him find his voice, the girl who was sad for him. the girl smiled for him. the girl who gave light to his lonely corner. the girl that never came.

.

.

.

The rain was heavy, the clouds were dark. The bell rang as it signaled the students to go home. however she wasn't here. He was still smiling in hopes to meet her tomorrow. He was worried but never sad.

.

.

.

Tomorrow came. But she wasn't there. Til tommorow once more, and another. He got worried, and worries became anxiousness.

His breathing became heavy. He felt the world turning dark. He stood at the gate, everyone already went home.

"Hey, I was gone for a bit and now look at you."

He looked up. Tears were filling up his eyes as he stood up as he hug her.

"Really now, you rely on me too much."

.

.

.

He looked awful, looking at him like that...It's painful. That is why I am to act strong in front of him. I don't want to leave him. I need to live for him. Feeling his distressed heart. I felt sad.

"Really now, you rely on me too much."

I must act strong for him.

"What will you do when I disappear?"

I shouldn't speak too much.

"What would you do when you can't help but live without me?"

I need to stop talking, or else he wil find out...or else he will find out that I'm not strong,

or else he will find out that the hands that he had been reaching out to is nothing but a fake.

Tear began to appear in the girl's eyes.

"How will you live on without me?"

The boy didn't speak, but he listened to the continuous questions of the girl.

.

.

.

To him, listening was very important. When you listen, you can understand what people likes and doesn't like. When you listen, you can avoid hurting others. When you listen, everyone can be happy. That's what his Mother always said.

His brother died, because he didn't listen. His family broke apart because he didn't listen. His friends betrayed hIm because he didn't listen. Everyone was unhappy because he didn't listen. That is why he always listen.

The boy listen to the girl. He listen to the girl's heart. The girl was sad, the girl was afraid, the girl was lonely. All those emotions was for him.

"Summer, you are strong"

He needed to let her know that she was strong.

"Here I am with a voice, that's the evidence that you are strong"

He needed to let her know nothing was fake.

"Summer, you are strong because I am here standing."

"You might think that your light is nothing but a facade, but to me it's everything that made me stand here. If it weren't for your light, I would still be in a corner, lonely and without a voice."

"Doubt the sun may move, doubt the stars are fire, But never doubt that you are strong, here I am living because of you, here I am shouting to the world with the voice you have given me."

The girl cried as she hugged the boy tightly.

The girl was happy, that someone like him cared for her. She didn't want to die. She wanted to be him forever.

She looked at the boy smiling gently.

"The course of true love never did run smooth."

The boy smiled wryly in response.

.

.

.

The boy and the girl continued their days in peace. But time was not an ally.

the girl was losing strength. her color became even paler. she was at loss. Life is a passing shadow, her time was numbered. her life was short but it was all she could ever ask for. On her deathbed at a young age. On a room with only three persons.

"Mom, can I speak with Rain for a moment?"

The lady was hesitant for a moment, but gave the precious time to the boy. As the lady left.

The girl spoke in a warm voice.

"Rain, my bounty is as boundless as the sea,

my love as deep; the more I give to thee,

the more I have, for both are infinite. "

"My life will be gone, but my love will stay. My life is blessed because of you. I couldn't have ask for more"

"If this is the price for having you, I wouldn't trade it for anything"

The boy was silent. but was listening. he was silent but he continued to meet the girl in the eye.

"Why aren't you speaking? Are you shy? Fufufu~"

"You can cry you know?"

The boy was now strong, because of her. Yet he couldn't stop his tears.

"Hey, can you give me a one last favor?"

"Sonnet 18 please~?"

The boy who sobbed yet silent til the end spoke.

"Okay..."

He wiped his tears.

"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?"

Once upon a time, a boy met a girl.

" Thou art more lovely and more temperate,"

The girl promised the boy to find his voice.

"Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,"

The boy admired the girl's strength.

"And summer's lease hath all too short a date,"

The boy listened to the girl's every word.

"Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,"

The boy saw a weakness in the girl's heart.

"And often is his gold complexion dimm'd,"

The boy admired the girl even more.

"And every fair from fair sometime declines,"

The boy found light within the girl.

"By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd,"

The boy called out the girl's name.

"But thy eternal summer shall not fade"

The girl was happy.

"Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest."

The boy found his voice.

"Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,"

But tragedy loomed the girl.

"When in eternal lines to time thou growest,"

The boy and girl found love in tragedy.

" So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,"

The girl slept but her love was awake.

"So long lives this and this gives life to thee."

The boy was alone but her light is with him.
