Shadow slave: In The Eye of The Beholder

In the cluttered and putrid place of the outskirts, a man lay in one of the many alleyways. A tiredness overtook him as the nightmare spell began its work, pulling him away from this world and its troubles. Another death sentence on his frail form, already stricken by sickness long before. His desires, hopes, and aspirations left unfulfilled, destined to vanish like smoke before the eternal rest ahead. His cloudy grey eyes gazed up towards the lights beyond his reach—the more fortunate, living and existing without worry, enjoying the life that was thrust upon them. He cursed his existence, his place, a mere bump in the road of destiny, a single thread in the vast weave of fate. For a moment, the drowsiness lifted, replaced by determination that filled his broken body. He would make them know—not just of him, but of all the people forgotten in the rubble known as the outskirts. With one final proclamation, the spell took him. Who knew how far his desire would take him? _________________________________________________________________ "With every flap of a butterfly's wings it affects the wind surrounding it, tornados can be made in its wake from just coincidence. and with a swarm of these delicate creatures. even the earth can shake."-Thicc-potato_6372 (2024)

In The Eye of The Beholder(chap11)-Blade Meets Blood

The sword traced across the space, bending the air to its will. Flesh parted like paper, bones crushed like gravel, and blood splattered like paint. The victim's expression of rage flew through the air, its head landing before one of the many cabinets as the decapitated body, still full of momentum, hurtled past Silas and over the destroyed balcony.

Before the awakened will of the [Mad Cows Canine] The dormant figure of a person was venerable to the blade.

The spell whispering into his ear.

[You have slain dormant beast. Skin Puppet]

Silas spared only a glance at the corpse, feeling the warm blood of the once-human creature matting his hair and staining his cheek. But there was no time to dwell on it—another mindless was already leaping toward him.

the mindless were silent, but their faces were screaming out, as if the madness they contained simply could not be voiced.

Silas dashed Sidways, recovering his form, as the mindless clawed at the air before him, their eyes not once losing contact with his own.

He felt his greaves grind against the flooring as he slid into a new stance, reading his blade once again, the strain felt in his muscles as he brought the sword over his shoulder, gritting his teeth, and slashing down with all the force he could muster.

The mindless rushed directly into the attack, driven by pure rage. It dived at Silas, its head meeting the spine of the sword. The sharp weapon cleaved through the skull and continued downward, splitting the mindless into two pieces as blood sprayed from both ends.

Before Silas could react, another skin puppet burst through the bloodied curtain, catching him by surprise. It slammed into his chest, its teeth sinking into his shoulder and fingers digging into his back as it pinned him against a bookcase.

The books in it shelfs cascading upon the both of them, the anger, surprise and fear Roared within Silas in the struggle.

"ARRRHHHH YOU LITTLE SHIT!"

Silas yelled out, pained as the fingernails dug through his leather shirt and into his skin, gripped the [Mad Cows Canine] And attempted to thrust it into the mindless, but in the brawl, the mindless removed its hand from his stomach and launched them forward.

Its fist striking directly on his wrist, the grip on the handle weakening, resulting in the blade clattering against the carpet. Much to Silas's displeasure

Silas looked at the fallen blade in shock, and then to the mindless in dread, the creature was pushing him back further, his back felt the wooden edges of the bookcase dig deeper, as Silas's muscles faltered, his from being overpowered by the madness of the puppet.

'Is this where it ends? to some random beast? no, No, NO IT CANT! Silas screamed in his mind, the strength in his body flaring up as his will, his desire [Empowered] it.

He stared into the mindless that opened it mouth, ready to bite down directly on Silas eyes, with Silas only to fruitlessly struggle with both his arms pinned by the puppet.

'Not you. If I'm going to die, I'll at least have to take some legacies with me, not just some braindead puppet!' Silas's eyes, void of his aspect, still contained a vast outburst of defiance.

The strength that started fuelling his body ramped up, as Silas craned his neck backward.

And brought it forward with force, as he headbutted the monster directly into its nose, the impact sent the beast backward for a slight moment, long enough for Silas to free his arm, and slam his fist into the monster's chest, sending it spiralling backward onto the carpet.

With the freedom returning, Silas got down and reached for [Mad Cows Canine] grasping it in his hand, he then launched himself forward, the mindless who was sprawled out on the floor, ravaging its surroundings in an attempt to get up.

It got up on all fours, and tilted its head, attempting to look at its prey, only to witness the very point of its sword centimetres before its pupil, they vision of the mindless for a quick second was completely grey, before turning black, as the sword thrusted through the cornea and out of the other side of the skull, then biting into the stone flooring.

[You have slain dormant beast, Skin Puppet]

The cacophony of the combat finally dying down, the only sound being the painting of Silas lying before final corpse, the blood starting to spread on the floor, it pooled on the floor and started flowing past his grey locks.

His body felt totalled, his tendons refused to work anymore, and his bones ached in solace, all He wanted to do was lie down, to rest his frail body, to finally meet true peace in his chaotic life.

Yet as the painting of his breath quieted down, the Ramage of the battle above sounded once again, the screams and crashed reverberating through the very walls of the castle.

So, for that, Silas despite his exertion had no choice to move, sure rest sounded heavenly, yet he might go to heaven if he kept this up.

'Though with what I've done, hell doesn't seem too far of either.' Silas mused with a sad smirk.

Getting up on his own two feet, Silas observed the corpses, the blood, the gore scattered across the room, the feeling of something familiar resonated once he stared into the monotone depths of red liquid.

He found out once it struck him, the pain stress burdening his head, the myriads of memories flashing by his head, threatening to bring him down to his knees as the images constricted his heart.

The blood, the gore, the corpses—he had seen it all before. He had spent most of his life in the outskirts, witnessing the aftermath of turf battles, muggings gone wrong, and the devastation wrought by rouge police.

But this blood reminded him not of those scenes, but of the experiments—the children beside him, begging and pleading, only to be left broken and bloodied on the floor, their eyes filled with the same frozen madness

The dance of brown eyes, the beautiful deep purples eyes visible to him in a faint image, the girl smiling brightly and whispering, her image being smudged away, obscuring and vanishing in the faintness of his mind.

Clutching the side of his head, with sweat beads running down his blooded and disgraced form, Silas pushed himself back up to his legs, gritting his teeth as the horror still latched onto him like an unwanted parasite.

"Stay strong Silas, its over, it has been over, Shes gone, Shes gone..." Silas whispered to himself the feelings still etched into him begging to retreat once again.

He grasps the [Mad Cows Canine' the blood running down the metal and dripping onto the floor.

His battered form treading past the mayhem and out of the room.

Into the emptiness and unknown of the hallway.

That was a fun write!

instead of trying to rush, i let myself take my time, and enjoy the writing process.

I got the same amount of words as the times i would rush, but instead it was alot better lol.

What do you think of the new image for the novel? should I keep it, use the old one, or try to make a better one?

Anyway.
