Edge of Survival

As Ragna and the white humanoid creature stood in front of eachother, sweat rolled down Ragnas face. His hands were shaking slightly while holding his sword.

The Creature, even tho not specializing in physical strength, would still be way stronger than Ragna.

That didn't mean that he had no chance tho. He had a ascended sword at his arsenal and he could also augment it with his blood. There were also the attributes of the sword itself, which would make it grow even stronger. He just needed to get a good and clean hit.

Since Ragna got scared at fighting the creature, the [Emotional Blade] Attribute of his blade made it shine blue and weaken it but infuse it with a poison. Ragna didn't know what kind of poison but he hoped it was strong.

The Creature took a step forward and suddenly arrived directly in front of Ragna, swinging its right hand at Ragna hand.

Ragna put all his power into stepping backward, dodging just in the last second but still being grazed slightly.

'Shit, he's faster than I expected.'

He quickly changed his form and swung the augmented sword at the creatures extended arm but it quickly pulled it back and then kicked at Ragna, shooting him a few meters back.

'Why is that bastard so smart and strong? Isn't he "only" a Fallen creature ?'

After hastily standing up he suddenly felt a pang in his head. The creature was attacking him with mind attacks again.

He felt his senses dull so before he fell into the mind attacks, he quickly thrust his sword through his own palm, making him break out again.

Ragna tried everything to not scream because of the pain but it didn't help much.

'How do I beat something like that ? It's just impossible'

Thankfully Ragna had already started his plan. Just before, when the creature had kicked him, he thrust his blade down, just grazing the creatures skin but hitting it with the poison. He just needed to survive long enough. Since Ragna was also hit by the creature, the [Reflective Edge] Attribute, which made the Mirrorblade stronger the more damage It's user took, also started taking its effect.

Ragna gritted his teeth, fighting back the agony that pulsed through his hand. He tightened his grip on the hilt, feeling his blood tickle down on it. The creature stood still, not showing much emotions as it just analyzed Ragnas next move.

His mind raced, desperately wanting to find and opening, to give him the upper hand, if not just for one second. Since Ragna grew more scared, the poison also got more potent but the blade also got more dull.

The creature was smart but it still also had its born arrogance and confidence. Thats also why it didn't fully commit with it's strikes yet and rather toyed with Ragna.

As the creature lunged at him once again, Ragna stood his ground and decided to not dodge backwards like last time. Time was going slow as he waited for an opening. At the last moment, Ragna dashed forward. The sudden shift in his movements confused the creature and made it unable to adjust just in time.

With all of his strength, Ragna swung his sword upward, slicing through the creatures chest and chin, infusing its flesh with the potent poison.

The creature let out an inhumane screech as black blood dropped down from its wounds.

The poison, whatever it exactly was, was slowly taking its effect, his plan was working.

But it wasn't over yet.

After Ragna slashed upward, a trail of blood followed, deepening the wound and making it bleed more.

Desperately, the creature swung at Ragna with full force but he already expected it to do that so he weaved under it and then thrust his sword through its chest, another slash of blood following it.

The creature let out another, more louder inhumane screech as the sword got stuck inside of its flesh. Ragna dashed back and recalled his blade since it was stuck. It would take another few seconds to manifest it fully again.

Unfortunately the creature was still somehow standing, tho way weaker now. It put all of its strength into dashing forward, suprising Ragna as in just a second he saw the creatures fist close down on his face.

But suddenly Ragna grinned like a psychopath

'So predictable'

Ragna had deliberately dashed right to the edge of the mountain, which the creature didn't realize. So now, just before he was about to get hit, he took a step back and fell down, the creature falling down with him him and rolling down the steep ground.

The creature couldn't step back up for a few seconds and those few seconds were just what Ragna needed. His Mirrorblade manifested into his right hand, so while rolling down he turned around, somehow kept balance and slashed at the still rolling creature, cutting of its left arm fully. For a moment everything was silent while the the creatures limp body continued rolling down the mountain

'Just die, you bastard'

but then the thing he hoped for whispered into his mind.

[You have slain a Fallen Demon, The Blank]

[You have spilled Blood]

[Your Core grows stronger]

'Oh god, that was hard'

Ragna thought that was it but the spell wasn't done yet.

[You have gained a Memory]

'.. can't even be happy because I'm too exhausted. I'll look at it later, I need to find Layla first.'

It took around half a hour but after that time Ragna arrived at the place where he pushed Layla down for her safety. Her unconscious body was stuck inside of a bush, thankfully she didn't roll down too much.

He recalled his [Redfur Cloak], since it was about to break and then picked Laylas body over his shoulder before climbing up the mountain again.

After he arrived he sat her down and then waited.

Time to look at my runes, I guess.

Ragna just waited for Layla to wake up while thinking of random stuff and maybe just after one and a half hours she slowly stirred up.

"Mnhnm, what happened ? Where are we ?"

"At the top of a mountain. You fell asleep because you were exhausted. Nothing much happened."

Ragna was lying since he didn't have the power to explain nor wanted to make her feel bad because she was "useless" this time.

"This mountain seems to be safe. Lets rest for some time, carrying you was really hard. You're heavier than you look."

Layla blushed slightly while staggering

"I-I'm n-not heavy ! You're j-just weak !"

"I would say the same if I were you. But you can't change the truth."

Layla blushed more and punched Ragna's shoulder.

'I weight like 56 kilos and i'm tall for a woman!'

Ragna just started laughing.

'I'm just playing with you, no need to get worked up.'

Suddenly Layla splashed at Ragna with ink and made him go blind. Ragna tensed as he crawled backward.

"W-wa-wait ! What are you doing ?"

"Your getting kinda mean, Ragna. Didn't your parents teach you to not talk about weight in front of a lady ?"

Ragna felt her warm breath against his ear as he still couldn't see.

"Just what do I do about you, blind boy ? Maybe I should punish you for doing such a big sin."

Ragna didn't see it but Layla manifested a Memory. It was a feather of sorts. It had special effects but Layla used it to tickle the blinded Ragna, making him laugh and struggle against her.

"Oh god ... hahaha .. pl-please stop. I can't anymore. Im sorry, please"

Yet Layla didn't stop, continuing for as long till the blindness went away.

"Hmph, i hope you learned your lesson."

"Y-yes, Miss"

Feel slightly better today. Also wrote the exam and I think I did pretty good.

I don't really have anything to say but I hope y'all enjoyed the fight against the white creature.

I think my writing skills got slightly better when it comes to fighting skills but I'll still try to get better over time.

Peace ✌️
