Horror effect.

Ever since Kevin got the system, he had been curious about many things. One was how he got the system. Another was what it could do. Then the last was the system itself, something all werewolves had but was never mentioned in the books. If that was the case, he also wondered just how many more rewards he could get from it.

If the system was just like a game, Devon wondered if perhaps he could hack into it and access all that the system had to offer. But he declined such thoughts due to the risks at hand.

He could only imagine what they would do to him if someone were to find out that a digital interface was living in his mind like a system. Surely he would be turned into a guinea pig, and multiple experiments would be carried out on him, just like Kevin had warned.

With these thoughts in mind, Devon could only focus on working hard for the system to grant him more rewards if possible, such as a skill that could help him earn extra cash.

That's why whenever Devon had a quest, he would do his best to complete it. Right now, another reward had been granted to him after he had beaten the group of boys without getting a scratch.

[Level 1 skill: Horror - This is an influencer skill. It brings out the horror of a werewolf when used on a target.

Cost: 5 points of energy to activate and works only for one minute]

[Note: This skill only works on those below the host mentality level]

The first thing Devon noticed was that the skill had a level added to it. This was the first time the system was giving him a skill with a level.

The problem was that Devon had no idea how this skill was meant to help him, even in a battle. He read the skill description carefully to be sure he didn't miss anything.

'If my guess is right, this skill is mainly used to scare people away,' Devon thought. 'But how is that going to help me?'

Regardless, before Devon jumped to a conclusion, he had to test the skill out. Since it was something that was not meant to hurt someone, he was more than willing to try it out on the people lying on the floor.

Picking the one with a gun, Devon made sure to throw the gun at a distance before giving the boy a hot slap on his cheek.

The boy jumped up in shock, holding his cheek in pain. He glared at Devon angrily, but his face soon paled.

[Level 1 skill horror activated]

[-5 energy]

"Please...please... Don't hurt me... I will do whatever you want, but please let me go!" the boy said, pushing himself back away from Devon.

Devon was startled by the boy's reaction. He didn't expect this, and subconsciously, Devon touched his face, wondering whether he had a beast face, but felt nothing. His body was still in order.

Unknown to Devon, the power of the horror did not affect his appearance. It was just that his body was emitting this intimidating pressure that he couldn't feel, but those around him could. It almost felt like the others were staring at a beast ready to devour them, yet at the same time not.

"You will do anything I want?" Devon asked, a smile appearing on his lips. An idea had just come into his mind.

Meanwhile, a few moments later, two people entered the alleyway and were shocked by what they saw.

"Just what happened here...?" Malik asked, looking around the alley and then at the person who brought him here.

"I am not sure, I swear, I left the boy here with the others to call you. I thought he couldn't handle them, so I called you," the blue-haired girl said.

Just then, they heard a noise from one of the bodies lying on the floor. On closer look, they could see that the boy's body was trembling, and goosebumps were visible on his skin, as large as chickenpox.

"Please... Don't kill me... I won't hurt anybody again," the boy muttered in a low, trembling voice.

"Just what happened here... This boy who helped you, do you know who he is?" Malik asked.

"I don't know, but his school uniform... It's the same as yours," the girl replied.

Malik was left thinking as he started to wonder, 'Just who is he?'

Meanwhile, the main culprit of it all was on his way to school. Devon couldn't believe just how lucky he was that morning.

Of course, after beating the boys, he didn't hesitate to take all that they had in the thief's bag. As expected, most of them were spoiled brats who carried loads of cash.

'With this, maybe I can try out the gym,' Devon thought. He was happy that he had more stat points on him. He wasn't going to use them yet until he was in a condition where he would need them.

Looking at the time, Devon could see that there was still some time left before he could be considered late.

Seeing this, Devon canceled the idea of visiting the gym. "That can wait until after school hours," Devon thought as he shoved the money into his pocket.

He started to think about how he got the money. Seriously, Devon felt no remorse for what he had done. People like those boys deserved more than what they got.

'This makes me wonder, will he even abide by my instructions? Maybe the effects of the horror will disappear after I leave the area,' Devon thought.

Devon didn't just take the money from the teenagers; he had given them instructions to never try harassing anyone. The reason for this was that Devon feared that one day it might be his sister online, and he might not be there to save her.

The problem was that Devon wasn't even sure if the skill would still be effective while he was not around. If only he knew just how much damage the horror skill had done to the young boy mentally, perhaps he would even feel empathy for him.

Unaware of this, Devon's day moved on as he eventually reached his school.

As always, Kelvin was already there, and from the looks of things, his mouth was leaking information as he was dying to tell Devon all he had heard about the previous days.

"Get your ass over here... You heard what happened, right?" Kelvin asked.

Devon shook his head in answer.

"The beast hunters that arrived last week happened to have run into the beast," Kelvin said.

Devon wasn't so surprised to hear this. After all, it is nearly impossible for it to be hidden when an actual police chase occurs.

"Guess what?" Kelvin said.

"What?" Devon asked.

"It turned out that it was not a beast; rather, it was the power of an extraordinary human."

"You heard me right, an extraordinary just appeared in our city."
