Shadow Assassin: Dual Attributes

(!The credit for the Book Cover goes to the creator, it isn't mine!) It is a hard living in the new age of the modern world, on Earth. Especially if you did not have any Abilities; it was the case for Quinn. His parents were ambassadors, and secretly, Assassins working for the 'greater good'. Wars were quite a frequent occurance on Earth, leaving only ravaged remains of the once beautiful planet. Although, the once frequent wars had stopped and the world finally entered a fleeting age of peace, the larger powers were in a deadlock and in high geopolitical tension. The majority of the interstellar planets and bases were owned by Capitalist powerhouses that held only base value in high regards and sought after strong trans-humans: an evolved species of Humans that were compatible with Ability Dews that were found on alien planets and could extract and use different types of supernatural Abilities themselves. Quinn's parents were sent on an obvious su**ide-mission on the battlefront of some planet by the Governance of Earth, to 'fight and serve' their home-planet by fighting off the opposition consisting of a terrorist group called the "Elementals", and secretly, a whole another unknown enemy... Receiving their last, parting gift, Quinn got his hands on something that was completely out of scope for normal Humans, or any other intelligent race that could possibly or ever will exsist. It was of unknown origins when his parents found it, and only he would be the one to discover its true functioning and creator. He would become something that was nothing like a Human... he would forsake his life and living, only to find the truth about the artefact and why it chose him. He would fight enemies of the peaceful inhabitants of Earth in hopes to protect those that he once loved, when he was still Human. Furthermore, he would fight other beings in the shadows of different realms; discover secrets of the Universe and the one above it all. No, not God; nor the Great Old Ones. Nay, not even the Outer Gods. But, the one and only... above creation itself: a dream that birthed it; the Absolute Being. Existing in the Real World, out of this wretched Dream of his. Only by meeting his real origins and awakening, would Quinn be able to escape this accursed cycle that only he knew the truth of; alone, would he protect the mortals... in hopes of protecting only those that he loved.

Boredom

Stepping out of the headmaster's office, Quinn walked till he reached the windows that allowed him a view of the rest of the academy: a giant structure that was the fame of Vastoria and a myriad of different facilities. The integration of the natural beauty of the flora of Nyxterra just made the scenery of even within the Royal academy incredibly breathtaking.

A notification which spelt imminent doom for Quinn for all he knew appeared once again, disturbing the brief moment of peace that his mind had managed to acquire, reminding him of his objective in Nyxterra and the limited amount of time that he had to accomplish it: a month—or less, considering the meter that fills up with no hint of stopping.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a voice rang in his head—as it did with every other student that had passed the examination—and instructed him to brace for the teleportation to the grand hall of the Royal academy. The very next second, Quinn's body was enveloped in a blinding white light; it almost irked him that he was being forcefullly teleported, but he was not really in a position to decline the summons from the Royal academy—nor did he have any way to blocking the teleportation Ability or Magic.

'Unless I can interrupt the Ability's interference with my body by using Arcane Energy... somehow.'

Having been teleported to the grand hall once again, Quinn looked around; there were about 200 students that had successfully passed both the written test and the physical or Ability prowess examination. Originally, there were a lot more rowdy candidates that were looking forward to sailing smoothly through the examinations, but now: the situation was quite the opposite, with a drastically less amount of students that were actually accepted into the academy.

'Hmm... that guy with the golden aura is here as well. Good,' Quinn looked at the person who had piqued his interest the most: Second, from across the hall, 'But, why's he with that old man? A Vampire Elder... .'

[Arfric Elmos]

[Race: Vampire Elder]

[Ability: Millennium Contract]

'Why can't I access his information using my [Scrutinize] Skill?' Quinn asked. 'Hmm, I thought it not possible... the gold aura that you can perceive is the same as Scion's: the presence of Origin Energy that has been modified because of her existence as a True, Original and Primordial Vampire. Oh, this is a headache, if I ever had one. This might mean that this person is either Scion incarnate, a True Vampire that possesses Origin Energy—which I personally find ludicrous—or he is Kin of Scion that possesses Origin Energy—which might seem absurd since Scion has been long dead.

'However... I want you to try and get close to him. Try and figure out this mystery; perhaps, I might be able to know what actually happened to Scion's physical consciousness.'

It seemed as though Quinn's pile of side-quests just kept on increasing; however, he was also rather interested in what manner of being a True Vampire might be and the powers that the mysterious person has—along with a desire for the same's power as well, of course: considering Quinn's nature and thirst for power.

The Vampire Elder, Arfric, cleared his throat before he spoke, signalling the rowdy crowd to quiet down again. "I would like to introduce and call upon a student—most honoured by the Royal academy and the Table of the Vampires—to make a speech for the best assets of this generation: the Vampire and Human youth that has endured much and is now under the best guidance that can be provided. I bid you all: welcome Second, a young Vampire Lord working alongside myself!"

As instructed by a venerated Elder, the crowd erupted with claps, welcoming Second to the podium, on the stage. Now could Quinn finally see Second in his full glory without using his powers.

Second seemed to tower over most of the people present at the event, standing at over 6 feet, 3 inches tall; his build was the perfect and ideal blend of lean yet muscular. His skin was of a pale, near alabaster hue, and almost translucent in its pallor—smooth and unblemished. His hair was long and flowing, however, slicked back elegantly in a mane of dark, raven-black locks. The hair truly framed his face, accentuating his sharp features—befitting of Royalty—and high cheekbones. The mention of his facial features: they were finely chiseled, with a strong jawline and a perfectly symmetrical structure.

However, Second's eyes were the most note-worthy and captivating feature: fake deep, piercing crimson coloured iris with a pulsing gold burst of Origin Energy which could only be detected by Quinn and other Origin Energy users; it seemed as though Second was not the most skillful person in the department of completely concealing his Origin Energy.

'A Vampire that can control Primordial Energy.... and it is none other than the Origin Energy,' Void mused, thinking for a few seconds before speaking up again, 'I am certain; the child is, in one way or the other, related to Scion.'

As Void explained in detail, the similarity between Second's and Scion's attributes, the more it seemed likely that the two were most certainly related.

'Haa... I'm the least interested in this speech, so I'll just skip~'

———

'Classic honour student and rep of the academy speech,' Quinn remarked, 'Couldn't care less about that. But... what the actual fuck am I doing here? Isn't the military academy, back on Earth, starting in a month? How am I gonna... oh, right.'

Stopping his train of thought all of a sudden, Quinn thought of a possibility that maybe he could just rely on some—in his words—'mystical bullshit'; in other words: magics and Energy—perhaps even with his Authorities if they could work along side the former two. He remembered that he had gotten a [Shadow] Skill specialised for spying called [Shadow Attach]; so, the use of said Skill would be imperative in knowing the happenings of Earth through the clone that would be sent there.

'That said, I wouldn't really wanna send just some emotionless thing that would spell disaster for both me and to its victims at the base,' Quinn expressed his concern to Void, 'This is kinda confusing now... who would've thought that I would be having trouble with these kind of temporal things... .'

'Thing are getting boring again... . I wish I could fight something stronger than that Draconis.'

You might be wondering: 'Why the late and inconsistent releases again?' Well, my friend, I've just been working on another cool ass project that I name: Project Relic. Ngl, it's the coolest thing I've come up with and the best writing that I have expressed with. Originally, I had just been building up on the concept, but ever since participating in a writing contest, I thought that I might just submit the prologue of the story in it and continue building on the story. Plus, I also just have a lot on my plate... shit's been tough for a while. idek when I can come back w the releases.
