Chapter 1: Dark's Origin

Year: 1950

Location: Space Colony ARK

After creating the Ultimate Live Form with the Black Arms, Gerald Robotnik, a genius at that time, decides to create a perfect opponent to defeat Shadow, if he tries to destroy the Humanity. He goes to an secret room, goes to his desk and, with the Project Shadow plans and the hedgehog's DNA, starts working on the new project called "Project Dark".

The room had technology all over the place. High tech CPU's, specimen containers, DNA samples and worktables. The computers were making mechanical noises that ecoed all over the room. Gerald put the plans on this worktable and said:

- Ok Dark, let's create you.

The professor was working on the project ,when suddently his granddauther, Maria Robotnik. She askes:

- Grandfather, what are you doing?

Gerald quikly grabs the plans for the new project and replied:

- Nothing, honey. Why don't you go talk to Shadow?

She answered:

- He's been a little...dispersed today. He doesn't want to talk with anyone right now. - And she asked again - What are ou doing?

Gerald sighs heavily and asks:

- Can you keep a secret?

Maria replies:

- Yes.

- I think that the Black Arms will use Shadow as a weapon to destroy the Earth.

- What?!

- shh. Don't scream.

- Ok sorry.

- You don't need to apologize. I'm creating an opponent to defeat Shadow if that happens.

- Seriously? - Asked Maria, whispering

- Yes.

- So...What if Shadow doesn't destroy the Earth?

- In that case, he will have a brother who will take care of him. But, don't tell him about this. If you see that he has no trace of becoming evil, tell him to come here and I will speak to him personally, okay?

- Okay grandfather! - Maria replied, as she left the room.

When she left, Gerald started to created Shadow's brother, Dark the Hedgehog.

After a few hours, Gerald started to see something inside the capsule where Dark was. The hedgehog's body trembled and a light gray glow came from his wrists.

The professor was a little bit scared, as this did not happened when he was creating Shadow. The computers were detecting interference inside the capsule.

Dark was alive

The container was shaking more and more, as if an earthquake was happening. Gerald was scared. The capsule was gonna to explode. He tries to hide behind one of the computers near to the capsule.

Finally, the container explodes, releasing a bright green light that illuminated the entire laboratory.

After the explosion, Gerald comes out of his hiding spot and looks at his creation. The hedgehog was similar to Shadow, but with yellow eyes, light gray stripes, blue bracelets and blue airshoes. He's more agile and more cunning, but he was more weaker about brute force. The hedgehog looked at his creator and asked:

- Did you create me?

Gerald replied stammering:

- W...Well, yes.

Dark looks at his hands and asks:

-What is my purpose, master?

- Please, don't call me master. Call me professor.- Gerald said - Your purpose is, if my first project turns against us, you have to destroy it.

- Right. How exactly is your first project, professor?

Gerald sighed and replied:

- The first project... is your brother, Shadow the Hedgehog.

- Wait, WHAT?! - said Dark, surprised and confused.
