Battle class

Maxwell was bored listening to the old professor talk about the geography of the continent. Apparently the empire divided the continent in half leaving the northern and southern kingdoms without any kind of communication. The people in the north were prejudicedly known as barbarians and uncivilized. For their kingdoms were constantly at war and their people had a more conservative culture. On this point Maxwell could not help but agree as many things he had seen in the north were not seen in the empire. like poor hygiene, wedding customs, the law that forbade any sexual relationship with a commoner.

He lived in his own flesh the disputes and wars, in addition to that the architecture, fashion, even the cities were very backward compared to the empire.

On the other hand were the southern kingdoms, which were known for their prosperous lands, warm climate, and large number of wealthy merchants. All the southern kingdoms were part of a coalition which they simply called the alliance.

Maxwell's boredom didn't end until the teacher commented, "Alright, our time is up. Head to the coliseum for your battle lessons."

Maxwell was by no means a battle freak, but he wanted to know exactly where his strength lay in the empire. The old teacher led them through the long corridors of the building until she left it and headed towards the back. After about 10 minutes of leisurely walking, the group of 20 children and an elderly woman reached what looked like a large Roman coliseum.

They all entered without saying a word and once inside they realized that they were not the only ones there. Several other classes of various ages were practically or having a little sparring.

"Alright guys, in today's class I want to see your skills and items." The old woman clapped her hands to get her attention. "So I'm going to pair them up for a little sparring section, the winner will fight the winner of another sparring match until there's only one left, ok?"

"Yes ma'am." They all responded with little synchrony and much reluctance.

You had to know that the vast majority of the class were girls between 10 and 15 years old. None of them were really excited about fighting someone.

Maxwell's class has 17 girls and 4 boys including him.

The other groups looked at them briefly before going back to their business.

The teacher called member by member to participate in sparring, but Maxwell was quickly disappointed. They were all very weak, they could barely control their elements and they did it in a very crude way.

Something that surprised him was that Adelaida apparently had the plant or nature element, which he didn't know very well. As she is placing her hands on the ground, she started to sprout many herbs and plants but her opponent only had to throw a single punch to defeat her.

He didn't know how to fight or defend himself, plus her magic could only make plants grow. It was more than obvious the result of it.

"Tina vs. Maxwell." the old teacher yelled.

At her call, Maxwell de Ella got up and walked towards the arena. A girl about 14 years old, with dark hair, brown eyes and a developing body appeared in front of him.

"Fight."

Once the teacher screamed, the girl raised her hands and materialized a small sphere of water that she shot in Maxwell's direction.

Maxwell simply tilted her body to the side and dodged the sphere of water, with two quick steps he approached the girl and hit with a right hand. The girl managed to dodge her but Maxwell grabbed her shoulder, placed one of her feet behind the girl's legs and knocked her down.

Quickly and unnoticeable to many, Maxwell grabbed the girl's ass as she fell.

"Maxwell winner." The teacher shouted without flinching.

The rest of the class continued like this, Maxwell winning his matches and taking advantage of the girls a bit in the process. All this without even using his magic.

Eventually only two finalists remained.

Maxwell and Jacob.

Jacob was a young man in his 15th year with brown hair and black eyes, he was very tall and a bit skinny. He always with a smile on his face.

Maxwell thought this game would be just as relaxed as the others. But as soon as the teacher gave the signal, Jacob stamped his feet on the ground and great spikes of stones rose in front of him.

"Woo-oops." Maxwell jumped back a little startled. Before he could react small shards of stone formed in front of Jacob and shot in his direction at high speed.

Maxwell had no choice but to activate his lightning speed, dodge all the stones and suddenly appear in front of Jacob and hit him on the forehead, which knocked him unconscious.

The entire class fell silent and stared at him in amazement.

"I am sorry." Maxwell raised his hands. "I didn't want to knock him out, I reacted without thinking."

The teacher snapped out of her surprise and looked at Maxwell with appreciation.

"Don't worry, it was just an accident." The teacher shook her head and smiled. "Maxwell is the winner."

Once everything was over and Jacob regained consciousness, the teacher ended the class.

As Maxwell was heading towards Adelaide to leave for the mansion, the teacher approached him.

"Maxwell has a very good item and skills too, but you attack and defend almost instinctively. You don't have a clear or defined fighting style, I recommend you look for one in the library or ask someone to teach you." recommended the teacher.

"Yes, teacher." Maxwell obediently nodded.

The teacher patted Maxwell's shoulders with a smile. "You have a good talent and aptitude. You know, I have a beautiful granddaughter that I would like to introduce you to."

Miriam thought that Maxwell would politely decline her offer or evade the question in embarrassment, but Maxwell looked at her seriously and asked, "What would that granddaughter of yours be willing to do?"

To say that she was surprised would be an understatement to describe Mirian's thoughts. She initially saw that Maxwell had a lot of talent and power, so she brought up the subject. But she never in a million years thought Maxwell would be interested.

Miriam thought a bit about Maxwell's question and smiled suggestively. "She will be willing to do what I tell her to do."

Maxwell smiled wickedly and looked at the old woman in the crotch. "Even that?"

Miriam followed her gaze and smiled.

"Yes. I could even have her sister come with her."

Maxwell swallowed hard and shook his head.

"I am indeed very tempted, but I highly valued my freedom."

With a will he didn't know he had, Maxwell turned and fled from the old woman before she could repent and accept her offer.

When Maxwell had gone, the old woman shook her head at her and smiled.

"Who said you had to get married? Silly boy."
