A Kingdom Reclaimed, Part I

Not much time had passed since Mei Xilan and her faction reclaimed the palace. The first thing she did was make a public announcement to the people. While just about everyone in the capital already knew about her and what she hoped to achieve, they didn't know if she would succeed. The people needed to be reassured that she had accomplished her task. She also needed to assure them that she would not betray their trust and ensure their continued safety and prosperity.

The people seemed to have mixed feelings. Wu Jian had wandered the streets a few days after the decisive battle to find that not everyone was pleased to see her reclaim the throne. However, for every one person who was upset, there were at least two that were happy. And ambiguity seemed to be the most prominent feeling among the people. To them, it didn’t matter if the Undying Sun Sect or Mei Xilan were in charge. They were all just faceless rulers who lorded over them from on high.
