The One Who Feasts on Dreams and Nightmares

"Hahaha! We're going to be eating good for the new few days boys! Attack! Take what you want and do what you want!" A largely built fellow commanded with joy. He wielded a large curved blade and wore a shirt that was a few sizes too small for a person of his great size. His porky belly was out for anyone to see but despite looking like this he was quite respected and powerful among his men.

Behind him were dozens of men carrying dangerous weapons and wearing light clothing. It was dark out but the moon's glow on the town was bright enough that the large man's men didn't even need torches to see. They charged at his command and swarmed into the small village like savages. Their eyes were filled with evil and their cries were like vile orcs.

"Bandits! Bandits are attacking the village! Someone call the---" His yells forcibly stopped as a bandit shoved his sword through the man's chest.

"Shut the hell up you, bald prick." He pushed the dying man off his sword and spotted a beautiful young girl fleeing away in a dress. He ran towards her with nothing in his mind but ripping that dress off of her and taking her against her will.

The next few hours were filled with nothing but cries of terror, cheers of banditry, and the slaughtering of innocent men, women, and children. The bandits took everything they could from the village. Food, barrels of ale, money, lives, and virginities were all taken by the bandits. No one from the surrounding towns and villages knew of the terrible plight that this village was suffering from. No one but the villagers and the bandit themselves. Well, almost no one, except for the strange creature watching from the bushes outside the village.

It was watching ever since the beginning of the pillage. It also watched until the end of it as well. What were its thoughts on the actions of the bandits? What about the horrible fate suffered by the villagers? Only it could ever know. It didn't let anyone spot it while it was observing through the night. Being spotted could threaten it and possibly get it killed by the big creatures.

It was hungry and needed to hunt. It couldn't hunt while those big creatures were killing and hurting each other, so it waited until they were finished and hoped to find any scraps leftover for itself. After checking its surrounding, it left the bush it was hiding in and entered the ravaged village. The ground was covered in corpses, the wooden houses were partially destroyed or completely destroyed, and there was no sign of life anywhere. The strange creature passed by any dead bodies in the village. It seemed as if it had no interest in eating the fallen bodies.

But the creature could sense that there were still creatures living within the village, two, to be exact. If it was just one it could handle it without a problem but since there was two it would be too dangerous to attack like this. It looked around for one of the tools used by the big creatures. The way they used them to effectively disable prey in one or two hits with them was very useful to the creature. It found a weapon next to the corpse of a young naked girl. Her dress was ripped apart and dried blood could be seen stained between her thighs.

The creature didn't even spare a look at the body and grasped the handle of the iron weapon. It lifted it from the ground and mimicked the way the creatures from last night used their tools. The being swung the weapon around effortlessly. It was a spiked mace. The weapon looked unused and there wasn't a spot of blood anywhere near it. The creature was content with the weight and appearance of the item.

It began to walk towards the two creatures it sensed from earlier. They were inside the large structure. It pushed open the door and entered inside. The insides were a complete mess. Anything made out of wood was split in half or destroyed, the beds were sliced apart and ruined, and some parts of the floor were broken in by something. There was nothing of valuable worth taking left inside this home.

Nothing but two remaining humans that somehow managed to survive the bandit raid. The creature stalked its way towards the two and could sense them hiding below the floor boards. It raised its mace and struck the floor with a strong strike. Two screams yelled out as a young lady appeared below and struck at the creature with a hatchet.

"DIE BANDIT!!!" She screamed with her eyes filled with hatred.

The young girl's beauty was on par with noble ladies even though she looked haggard and was mad with bloodlust. Her hair was a beautiful light brown that reached past her neck, her fair skin and stunning proportions along with her gorgeous facial features would send any man in a frenzy just at the sight of her. It was too bad that it wasn't a human male she was attacking.

The creature looked as if it already knew how she was going to attack it and promptly jumped out of the way as the girl fell to the floor. She looked up at the creature in confusion to see that it wasn't a bandit at all but a monster! A monster from the forest! It looked almost like a goblin but it was far too big and different to be a goblin.

The monster was tall enough to match her in height and was even bigger than her too! It was yellow all over except for the white fur around its neck. Its eyes were unlike any goblin eyes she's ever seen. They looked... intelligent. But what other kind of monster could it be? The nose was large and pointy like a goblin's as well but it had 5 fingers on its hands and three toes on each foot. A goblin would have to evolve at least two times to reach the size of this monster! Could it be a mutant goblin?

"Stay away from me and my brother!" She reached for her hatchet in a desperate hope to defend herself from the monster.

The monster swung its mace into the head of the girl without a second thought. His mace struck terribly and her skull was smashed open from the back with its power. With a fatal blow like that, she was going to die within seconds.

"Big sister!!!" The other human cried out with a soul shattering cry.

The monster looked over at him to see that this one was without a dangerous tool. It was also much smaller and weaker looking than the one it just killed.

'Good.' It thought.

It took out an odd tool from its ruff of white fur and began swinging it back and forth as the boy looked in its direction. The boy's focus on his sister's dying body was switched to the flat silver ring that was swinging left to right. It was as if he had no control over where his eyes were going anymore. The swinging ring was all he could focus his eyes on. His distraught over his sister's death at the hand of the yellow goblin was being clouded, even his very thoughts were disappearing at he focused on the ring.

The boy's eyes became muddled. It was as if someone conjured a magical fog within his brain that scrambled his thoughts and relinquished all control over his body. It was like falling into a deep relaxing sleep after a long day of playing with his big sister. Playing with Jess is always so fun.

'Pick up that tool and kill this creature.' The monster ordered.

The young child slowly walked over to the hatchet and picked it up. He then stood over his dying sister and dropped the axe down on her neck. She twitched after being hit. With the boy's weak strength, he couldn't get through her neck in one hit. He tried again and again until his hatchet finally decapitated his older sibling. There was no emotion on his face but tears could be seen fiercely falling down his face.

'Follow.' The monster ordered.

The two left the empty village behind and entered into the forest together. The fate of the village wouldn't be found out until a few hours later but nothing will be known about what took place between the monster, the young boy, and his older sister. The monster brought the boy deep into the forest and far away from the destroyed village. It had a bad feeling about sticking around such a place for too long.

The goblin-like creature reached a part of the forest where the area was dense with trees. It used its pointy ears to hear for any monsters in the area and could only hear the sounds of small creatures. This was a good time to feed.

'Sleep!' It commanded to the boy.

The boy immediately drifted off to sleep and the yellow monster crouched over the boy's body. From the boy's mind, it could draw out his dreams and feast on them! This was how it fed. The boy was dreaming about watching himself decapitate his sister and trying to stop it. Nightmares were especially tasty after being hungry for so long but there was little difference between eating good dreams and eating nightmares. Good dreams felt like they had more nourishment than nightmares but nightmares were more flavorful.

The monster ate the boy's nightmare and climbed up on top of the tree to rest. It has spent more than a couple hours hunting for food. It needs to rest to keep up its strength or it will be eaten by the other creatures in this forest in no time. The monster plans to keep the boy under its hypnosis as it will be a good source of food for it. It could also possibly be a good tool for it to use in other matters as well.
