Lin Feng activated Survival mode and promptly invited Eula to join.
"Eula, it's daytime now. Let's start by chopping trees and building a house!" Lin Feng immediately took charge, rushing towards the forest with determination.
Eula was still bewildered. Chopping trees? She came here to play a game, not for manual labor. Besides, without an axe, how would they even cut down trees?
"Just keep tapping on that tree; it'll eventually fall, turning into blocks which will automatically be picked up..." Seeing Eula standing motionless, Lin Feng quickly explained.
Half-understanding, Eula approached a tree and pressed her hand against its trunk. Sure enough, after a moment, the phone vibrated, the tree disappeared, and a piece of wood appeared in her character's hand.
"Exactly, just like that! Keep chopping more!" Lin Feng noticed the wood in Eula's hand and promptly encouraged her.
Using the few logs he had gathered, Lin Feng crafted a workbench and then made a pickaxe. With the pickaxe, he began digging nearby stones right away.
Soon, Lin Feng tossed a stone axe, stone sword, and stone pickaxe next to Eula.
Initially focused on chopping trees, Eula glanced curiously at Lin Feng as three new items suddenly appeared in her inventory.
"The stone axe can be used for cutting trees..." Lin Feng explained the purpose of each tool before instructing Eula:
"I'll go kill some sheep; we can use their wool to make beds later!"
"Okay," Eula responded half-understandingly and continued chopping trees diligently. Although unsure of the game's mechanics, she looked forward to battling monsters soon.
Quickly, Lin Feng finished building the house, but Eula seemed unsatisfied. The Lawrence Clan placed great emphasis on etiquette, and subpar architecture was not acceptable.
"You call this a house?" Eula questioned skeptically, then proceeded to demolish the wall with her stone pickaxe, gesturing for Lin Feng to step aside so she could rebuild it properly...
Feeling helpless, Lin Feng resumed chopping trees. Soon, night fell, and Eula finally completed her version of the house.
As zombie moans echoed outside, Eula gripped her wooden sword, vigilantly scanning the surroundings. Lin Feng returned with several stacks of stones and wood, admiring Eula's construction despite himself.
If Lin Feng's house resembled a fenced-in graveyard, Eula's was akin to a luxurious mansion.
Lin Feng set up the beds and suggested they sleep together, albeit on separate mattresses. Despite lying apart, Eula felt as though Lin Feng were still close by.
"In the daytime, we'll mine resources, and at night, we'll fight zombies. We can even build a Nether portal..." Lin Feng explained numerous gameplay elements, captivating Eula deeply.
Within the Lawrence Clan, there was no time for leisure or entertainment. The only activity that truly relaxed her was performing the Sacrificial Dance. Consequently, facing this game, Eula felt more drawn to it than anyone else, as the pressure she endured was immense.
They played late into the night, and Lin Feng began feeling exhausted. Turning to Eula, he suggested, "Why don't we continue playing tomorrow? This game can be saved."
However, Eula seemed energized, as if discovering a whole new world. She looked at Lin Feng with reluctance, clearly not wanting to stop. Feeling helpless but unable to keep his eyes open any longer, Lin Feng set aside his phone and let Eula play on her own.
Fortunately, the phone was freshly issued by the System, devoid of any personal content; otherwise, he wouldn't have trusted leaving it unattended. After all, there's a saying: "One may die, but their browsing history must remain private."
Lin Feng went to sleep, appreciating the comfort of the bed over the floor. However, without Eula nearby, it still felt somewhat strange.
The next morning, upon waking up, Lin Feng noticed Eula still engrossed in her phone and immediately panicked. He rushed over and asked, concerned:
"Did you stay up all night?"
Eula lifted her head, revealing severe dark circles under her eyes, her face looking haggard.
"No, why do you ask?" Confused, Eula replied before lowering her gaze back to the phone.
"Stop playing and go to bed! If you continue like this, you'll collapse!" Lin Feng swiftly took Eula's phone away, his expression stern.
"No...not..." Before she could finish, Eula slumped over in her chair, falling asleep instantly.
Lin Feng shook his head, realizing he had underestimated the game's allure. This situation couldn't be allowed to persist; if anyone in Mondstadt were to die from exhaustion, the Knights of Favonius might arrest him.
"System, System, can you implement an anti-addiction feature?" Lin Feng urgently asked, determined not to let his beloved Eula meet such a fate.
"Fifty thousand Mora!" The System responded firmly, leaving no room for negotiation.
"No problem," Lin Feng agreed promptly.
Instantly, an anti-addiction layer was enforced on the phone. Lin Feng watched as a system notification popped up on Eula's device:
"You have been gaming continuously for 12 hours. Please log out now and take a rest."
Satisfied, Lin Feng nodded. Then, using his own phone, he logged into the game and opened the chest, surprised to find diamonds inside.
During his sleep, he hadn't even managed to dig up gold, let alone obtain a gold pickaxe.
Moreover, he noticed that a fence now surrounded his house, with a tall watchtower built beside it...
Lin Feng glanced at Eula lying on the chair and shook his head, intending to lift her gently and carry her to bed. However, he overestimated his own strength.
Eula's eyes fluttered open drowsily, saw Lin Feng, and promptly fell back asleep, mumbling something like, "This grudge, I..."
With no other choice, Lin Feng had to rely on the deceitful System for help.
"Anemo Vision rental: one million Mora for one minute," the System announced gleefully.
"Fine!" Lin Feng gritted his teeth, eyeing his remaining one million Mora as he nodded reluctantly.
Suddenly, a Vision materialized out of thin air in Lin Feng's hand. Without wasting any time, he swiftly activated the wind element, lifting Eula slightly, and rushed with her to her bedroom.
Once inside, Lin Feng quickly placed Eula on the bed and returned the Vision.
"Ding! Rental fee deducted: 1,000,000 Mora for one minute!"
The System's notification sounded, and all the Mora in Lin Feng's pocket vanished instantly.
"Hey, System, that was only thirty seconds!" Lin Feng hurriedly protested, feeling utterly cheated.
"Rental is charged per minute, regardless of actual usage time!" The System responded, seemingly quite pleased.
Lin Feng's teeth gnashed with frustration, but feeling helpless, he decided to let it go. He began examining Eula's room decor, only to find, disappointingly, that there was nothing particularly noteworthy, much like her small wooden hut.
He stepped out, gently closing the door behind him. Sensing his departure, Eula's lips curved slightly upwards.
"Hello, Traveler," Ella Musk pointed towards a nearby group of Hilichurls and asked, "I noticed a Hilichurl tribe over there. Could you help me communicate with the guard at their entrance?"
