Chapter 5

I was up quite early, well, around 5 am. I had completely forgotten that I had to attend a significant lesson today. I double-checked my schedule, and it was true, I had to attend it. It was still early, so I promptly planned out a schedule for today. I had to attend two places within a short time frame. Meanwhile, I was there distressing myself whereas Frederick was quietly asleep. I knew he had nothing to do with it, however, I was slightly envious of that moment.

There are days, you feel like sleeping continuously until you feel like actually waking up. I had no right to complain much about things I never valued when I was younger. I have to do it, I haven't gotten another option. It's simple if I don't work, I'll starve and remain broke for the rest of eternity whereas if I actually start working hard, my situation may be slightly better. I managed to squeeze those two crucial elements into my schedule. Well, I cut out my lunch break, toilet break everything, you name it. The only free time, I will potentially have is when I'm actually driving to my destinations.

Quite absurd!

I couldn't bother to shower under that cold freezing water this morning. I simply brushed my teeth and splashed some water all over my face. I was ready for the day. Simple as it.

It was barely 6 30 am, well, I patiently waited for the time to fly by. One minute felt like 10 minutes, indeed when you are bored time goes by extremely slowly. I kept on staring out the window, It was so early that nobody was out in the streets. I patiently loitered for a good 20 minutes. I grabbed my car keys from the living room's entrance table. I securely kept my bag in a safe compartment and I was off for the whole day. First and foremost, whilst, I had to smoke a good old cigarette.

I did the usual, my first stop was at the provincial coffee shop. It was the only store that actually opened quite early. They somehow made impressive coffee and they actually knew how to operate adequately. I grabbed my Ice tea and took the next left for the highway. My university wasn't quite far away, it took me a solid 20 minutes to arrive at my destination.

I got there safe and sound. I had to park my car quite far from the University block, cause on several occasions some university students drove recklessly in the parking lot. Most of them didn't even have a driving licence, the only thing they know to do was to get in trouble, bump into someone's car and simply run away.

Couldn't risk leaving Alexander's car anywhere. I had to take more precautions and act like a broke university student. I attended those classes, and as usual, everything was going adequately.  I left slightly earlier than I actually thought I would. I wasn't running late, luckily our lectures finish a few minutes before their supposed scheduled time. Fate was on my side after a while.

I quickly passed by the corridors of the building. I didn't want to get recognised by any other professors. They would simply waste my time and they talked about useless things. The only valuable piece of information they told me was during class hours. Other than that, they liked questioning me on several things. They knew that I no longer live with my parents due to some internal issues.

Somehow they were really interested in getting involved in my personal issues. They were more worried about me than I was for me. I discreetly tiptoed my way out the block and proceeded by going to the parking lot. The worst possible thing was about to arise, I wasn't in a good mood for jokes that morning. I noticed a few young boys approaching my car carrying a massive object what seemed to be a black bin bag.

My doubts were proven to be right, I was convinced that they had just vandalised my car.  As soon as I commenced running, they instantly fled away from there. I wondered what was wrong with these young boys. I started inspecting the car around, the tyres seemed to be in an untouched condition. As I approached the back part of the vehicle, I noticed several scratches on the car's body panel.

Great! It ruined my mood even more than it was beforehand. I couldn't waste any further time, I sat in the car with remorse on my face. I lit another cigarette, it was the last remaining cigarette, there weren't any shops nearby. I took a major risk, there was one shop slightly far but I thought I'd managed to reach my final destination on time.

I hit the gas pedal at its maximum speed. Well, it didn't reach its maximum speed. It was rather slow for a car, although it was spacious inside, you could easily fit in all of my mates. Indeed, I had other friends too, it wasn't just Frederick.

" Ohhh no, no way!" I told myself with anguish.

I didn't have much fuel left in the car's tank. Now I was certain, that I would run late to Alexander's meeting. I rapidly filled the car with some fuel and also managed to purchase that box of cigarettes. I smoked a lot of cigarettes in a short time spell. At least it was distressing me. I played some music, it was pretty decent, I was starting to jam with that song.

I was on the motorway safely speeding up, I had to make it there on time. A few cigarettes into the journey, the well-dreaded road came, and I slowly proceeded with it. I gradually decreased the volume from that radio, I had to remain more focused in that area compared to other places. The streets themselves were ludicrous, it wasn't a safe location to be in that often. I secretly parked my car somewhere and made a phone to Alexander's cabinet. His assistant counselled me to park elsewhere. At first hearing, I didn't get why I had to park elsewhere.

He further added," I will explain everything once you come here."

" Okay, hurry up!"

" Okay sure, I'll be there in a second."

I answered back with a few doubts left in my mind, I did everything as instructed by him. I didn't do any insanity and I also arrived there on time. I reached out in the backseat of the car for my backpack and took my pack of cigarettes along with me.

I will probably need them for the several possible outcomes that may arise today.  At least it will give me some kind of relief, after all, it's a common thing people do these days. I calmly went toward that door, I was supposed to go through, it required only one knock and they opened the door for me. His assistant opened the door for me, how kind it was of him for opening me the door.

We commenced exchanging.

" Morning, how are you?"

" Morning, I'm fine, what about you?"

" As you are aware, the boss gave you a mission scheduled for today."

" Yes, I'm fully aware."

" I told you to park elsewhere for a good cause."

" We don't want others to recognise you easily."

" No one will know that you are working with us, absolutely no one can guess that easily unless someone revealed that you are one of us."

" Be cautious, about where you park that car."

" I don't know if the boss told you, but it's a stolen car."

" All of these vehicles, you see here are all stolen from high profile people."

" That car, you are currently driving was previously owned by a director of a local bank."

" Long story short, that director, refused our boss to open an account there cause he is doing illegal work."

" He was furious about that mistreatment"

" He kidnapped his wife for ransom money."

" Our boss doesn't have bad intentions as such."

" He just dislikes when people disrespected him, he didn't like to be refused to do something."

" However, I can't deny that has a generous heart."

" I have been working for several years now, probably I'm the oldest employee here."

" Boss always treats me like his younger brother."

" On numerous occasions, I have indeed been afraid with things I have come across since I have been working here."

" However, I'm sure you will certainly enjoy a few moments with us soon."

" We are not mafias as such, we also do own a few factories and all."

" Look, the boss told me to instruct you for today."

" You will be accompanied by a few other workers for this task."

" You will be given a different vehicle, for identification purposes."

" So, the first task will be to kidnap a rich  man's daughter."

" Yes, you heard me."

" We are not intending to hurt that little girl."

" We just want our money back!"

" That caused us a lot of trouble, so now we shall show him what we are capable of doing."

" I know that you must have the guts to do such things, trust me there won't be any physical violence towards the girl."

" After we are also humans, we all have a heart."

" Just at times, people cause a lot of nuisance to others business and they even forget that their loved ones may get harmed."

" We have constantly been watching, where the girl is at this time of day and all."

" Thanks, to our few spies, we got to know her exact schedule.,"

" We hope that her father will solve this matter as soon as possible with our boss."

" We want it to finish sooner."

" As I said, we don't want to harm or traumatise her from these things."

Well, to be honest, I wasn't aghast that I would be doing such jobs. I was fully aware that I would be earning much more money than I ever did in my life. Just a few missions, could set my life for good. I knew that it wasn't the best of choices to earn well, however, that was how my destiny was written as. I have always noticed that those who stay innocent and honest don't succeed well in life.

Regardless, those do bad things for a living and earn a lot of money. Indeed it wasn't in my objectives to do some really bad things.  I just wanted to live a happy life, nonetheless, these things are really common in today's world. I proceeded by following his instructions for this mission.

I wasn't sure if I was ready to do such things. I took a deep breath in and told his assistant.

"I'm, ready!"

I wore some balaclavas to hide my identification, it felt quite absurd, the upcoming minutes. I took the required gear to accomplish this mission. Alexander and his team were on good terms with the local authority. I knew that at least I wouldn't get arrested for doing such things. We were told that we would get driven by in a black van, indeed I won't be driving.

That was my first ever time doing such things, but I had to be calmer.  They helped me out a lot financially and in other areas too. Well, nothing is given for free, I got money, so now I have to work for them.  So that is actually worth it for them. If I don't do what they ask me to do, I'll no longer get paid. I lit my first cigarette for this journey full of thrills. I was the one leading the little team on this mission.

Alexander had really put all his trust in me.

He handed me out the chance to lead the group, now I should lead them to what they are actually expecting. I got into the vehicle, and it felt quite different than most of the time. Only four members of the group were required for this mission, including me. We eventually left the locality with the required gears and materials for this mission. I sat in the front seat of the van, the mirrors were all tinted, and absolutely no one could recognise me.

The plan was to abduct her from her school. We knew the path she took when returning home, apparently, she had a personal chauffeur who dropped and picked her up from school every day. There was a road that had a massive hill in front, the car can't proceed to go in front either. As per our plan, we will follow them from behind and block the path from thereon. A few of the members will eventually come out of the car and snatch the girl out of the car. It doesn't seem to be that easy, though according to the plan, we will successfully manage to get her into our captivity. We had no plate numbers, so there was no chance for them to report us at the highest level. Later on, we planned to take to her to a store, a place where absolutely no one could even guess that she was there.

It had been 20 minutes since we left the starting point of our mission. Absolutely no one uttered a single word throughout the whole time. The atmosphere got even tenser, no one was there to calm or motivate each other. I smoked a few cigarettes till reaching our location. At least it helped me to calm myself down, and be more composed for this mission.

I sat in the front seat of the car,  I could see everything just flashing back in my head, I was getting flashbacks of my childhood. Our drive toward the location nearly came to an end, and the other members of Alexander's team commenced getting ready.  I took it under the chin and began to set up our strategy.
