Fear and Delight.

Vela, in a few words, was mesmerized by Nix. She figured the other-worlder would finish the last of the soldiers off with her rifle since it made the most sense. But seeing her rush in and fight in close combat was something else. It wasn't pretty, it was beautiful.

The way Nix fought seemed rustic and barbaric, but it had a feel of something that could only be gained if you were a veteran, bringing it home that she had really fought in the unrealistic war Nix had described before. She was finally brought back to reality was when Nix received the spear to her leg and faced off against the last group of soldiers.

God's, she's insane.

That thought quickly brought Vela to climb down the tree and draw her sword. Her feet barely touched the ground as she rushed the flames that surrounded the battlefield. She barely thought about what could happen to her, instead picking up pace to a sprint and jumping as high as she could. Her foot caught a burning branch just as she barely cleared the crackling shrubbery, causing her to land heavily on her chest with a grunt. She quickly recovered and scrambled to her feet, clutching her sword tight and looking for Nix. Once more, she could only find the scene before her as beautiful and was frozen in place with the heat clawing at the back of her neck.

Nix was a ways away holding a spear, looking down at an Oracian that was laying on his back. Her helmet was off, showing her fair skin and long white hair that melted down the side of her neck. Her forehead bled profusely, dripping down onto the spearhead that she held fiercely at the throat of an Oracian that struggled desperately to hold it away from her. Letting out a final roar, Nix pulled the spear back a bit before lunging it through the man's throat and into the ground. To Vela, Nix looked like a Goddess of battle, bearing broken armor, a splintered shield and a spear. Her eyes filled with a deep rage that seemed unending, shimmering among the flames that danced for her, cheering for her to keep dancing her bloody dance.

Shaking her head, Vela gathered herself and sheathed her sword. As she ran over, she called out to the woman as she pulled the spear out of the man. "Nix, NIX."

She was only a few paces away, but was forced to stop suddenly and lost her footing on the blood soaked soil. As she fell onto her butt, she held one hand up to defend herself from the spearhead that was aimed at her chest. Once more, Vela could only stare at that rage-filled face, beautifully surrounded by blood and fire as those dark eyes pierced her soul. Though now she felt no feeling other than fear, thinking she'd made a grave mistake. "N-Nix...?"

Nix's breath was heavy, making her head spin while her battle-high blurred her vision. Upon hearing her name dripped with fear, she seemed to sober up quickly. She didn't know how, but she found Vela at the end of her spear, making her drop it quickly and take a step back.

"Vela. Sorry....I thought...you were..." Nix tried to explain, but the rush finally hit her head and caused her to collapse onto her knees. As she sat on her ankles, Vela scrambled up to catch her and hold her close.

"By the God's Nix, you were amazing. How-"

"It's not over. The wounded....and the fire."

"I'll deal with the clean up. Just rest, you deserve it." Vela spoke softly upon seeing the soft look on Nix's face. Unlike the uncaring and nonchalant looks she was used to seeing from the other-worlder, she had a look of someone who was broken and lost, as she should've been when she'd first arrived.

Vela's words seemed to calm Nix's heart, making her vision fade as she leaned her head on Vela's shoulder. Due to her exhaustion, Nix fell quickly into a deep slumber. This would've been much more peaceful for Vela in a normal setting. Sadly, several groans and some movement caused her to glance around the battlefield and slowly let Nix down onto her back.

"Seriously, no one is going to believe this." Vela muttered as she stood up and drew her sword. Once more, she looked at Nix's sleeping face, smiling a little at how astonishingly peaceful the girl looked now.

Just then, a man kicked himself from underneath a Skivvers tail, struggling to stand slowly and look around the God's forsaken battlefield. "What...kind of...there was nothing...about a Demon."

These words brought a deep shadow over Velas face. Turning to the source of the voice, she found a Va'Rish in some pretty fancy golden armor. Where he would've stood proudly, sword and shield in hand in full plate-mail and sporting a dragon etched into his chest plate, he was now a struggling man missing an arm and most of his chest plate. His sword was still in its sheath, bent and broken from the fall, and his shield broken from an explosion.

Vela could only snort as she walked towards the man, gripping her blade hard enough to draw a little blood from her palm. Upon seeing her, the man fell onto his back and held up his arm in fear. "Y-you...stay back. Do you not know which nation I hail from?"

Vela stood above the man who'd backed himself up against the dead Skivver, raising her blade and glaring down at him. "Your nation be damned." She said in a cold tone, bringing her sword down to cut the man's head off.

After witnessing such a battle, she found no fear against the Empire, or the Alliance for that matter. All the fear she had laid in Nix's hands now. She'd seen a battle between the two nations when she was a child, and nothing came close to a battle like this. The destruction and brutality was on a whole other level.

"Now, how the Hell's am I supposed to clean this up?" Vela asked as she looked around the smoldering battlefield. A sudden thunder could be heard overhead, making Vela chuckle and shake her head a bit. "I see even the God's are on Nix's side huh?"

Nix really knows how to put the fear of the God's into someone huh? Now that we are here, who do you think Nix is under that rough layer of the soldier she is?
