Cedric still couldn't understand what Rosie meant but the fear in her voice made him react. He reached for her but she backed away from him. Rosie didn't want to be held. She didn't want to be comforted.

The idea about getting murdered might not exactly be a bad idea.

"Damn it, Rosie. Be honest with me now," he grated out, grabbing hold of her hand and holding tight. She struggled to pull free but he wouldn't let go. "Why are you crying?"

She took a long shuttering breath. His touch wasn't helping her control her emotions.

"I'll make it right." At his words, she quit trying to peel his hand away from hers and looked up at him through a wobbly blur of tears. "Whatever's wrong, I'll fix it, Rosie."

She wanted to scream at him. And this time, she didn't suppress the urge.

"I don't want to love you!" she shouted.

His head jerked back in response.

"But I do. So please. God, please, stop playing with my heart."
